Classical Computing (CC) takes place in the binary form of 0 and 1, whereas Quantum Computing (QC) takes place adhering to fundamental principles of quantum mechanics, i.e., superposition, entanglement, and tunneling. Humanity is in the race to show that QC is better than CC in terms of time, accuracy, and memory requirements. But since Fault-Tolerant QC hardware with solving problems computationally exhaustive for today’s CC are out of reach, we in this paper emulate Use case of the recommendation System on Quantum Singular Value Transform Framework (QSVT) of Quantum-Inspired Machine Learning (QiML) on CPU using the Qiskit Library, pyqsp library and have shown a quantum advantage in terms of accuracy, in terms of time and memory requirement classical implementation is a winner as computations in the Quantum Emulations are larger owing to unitary matrix conversions of input matrix and considerable depths, but these depths can be reduced to approximate the target polynomial function in which case the Quantum Implementation is comparable to/better than its counterpart at cost of *** entanglement principle of QM is used in the QSVT Circuit for entangling the QSVT Qubit with unitary Qubits by using the CNOT gates. Also, the entanglement principle is inherently present in the Input User Preference rating Unitary Matrix as well, if the exact tensor decomposition at a break-off qubit length of the input user preference unitary matrix is not *** input quantum state of our QSVT circuit can be initialized to the superposition of input user states to access all the items corresponding to all the users in one run of the circuit. This article describes the challenges in the use of the stereo camera for forward obstacle detection for automatic operation and verifies the possibility of the use of LidAr as a complementing device. Particularly, we evaluated the detection performance of LidAr under environmental conditions in which the stereo camera has difficulty in distance measurement. We confirmed that the detection performance of the stereo camera can be complemented by combining with LidAr to improve forward obstacle detection performance. We will further collect data under various weather conditions and conduct evaluation and performance verification. © 2023 Japan railway Engineers' Association. All rights reserved.

The article describes the design process for a low-cost aerial delivery system (LCAdS) that is a one-time use, disposable, airdrop system consisting of cargo parachute and container. The parachute systems is developed for military resupply missions and for humanitarian relief efforts in areas where ground supply and/or recovery of airdrop equipment is difficult or not feasible. LCAdS consists primarily of three types of cargo parachutes capable of supporting and delivering in a wide range of weights, from 70kg up to 1000kg. during the product development will be targeted three types of delivery topologies each with its own type of low-cost parachute: 'Low Velocity' delivery where the cargo is slowed down considerably by the parachute down to 5-7m/s for fragile and sensitive equipment using a cross type parachute made of fabric bands;'High Velocity' delivery where the cargo is only stabilized during descent and only marginally slowed down by the parachute for non-fragile equipment also using a cross type parachute made of fabric bands;'High Altitude Precision delivery', where the cargo is driven to a specific target using a self-steering a ram-air parachute. The high velocity and low velocity parachute use the same basic design principles to keep the costs as low as possible. These parachutes are 55% to 80% less expensive than the traditional nylon cargo parachutes due to a much lower cost of material. The parachutes are made from woven polypropylene fabric obtained from recycled source materials. An added benefit for the LCAdS, which are made from woven polypropylene fabric, is that these parachutes have shown to have a lower rate of descent than standard nylon cargo parachutes. In modern radars, electronic beam steering using phased-array antennas is prevalent to achieve rapid beam steering response times. However, if the phase values differ from those that control the phase of each individual element, the performance of the antenna radiation pattern will degrade (antenna gain reduction, sidelobe level increase). Initially, during antenna manufacturing, calibration table is obtained to compensate for phase offsets due to manufacturing process errors, etc., using near-field measurements (off-line calibration). real-time phase calibration (on-line calibration) is essential to compensate for phase errors caused by changes in rF device characteristics, such as temperature changes, during radar operation. A common transmitter phase calibration method involves constructing an individual calibration line for each array element and detecting the transmitter phase of the array element using the signal coupled to the calibration line as a result of the antenna array element transmission[1]. This paper presents a method and experimental results for accelerating the transmitter calibration of a fully digital phased-array antenna using OFdM. © 2024 IEEE.

This paper presents the starting phase of a research project that aims to develop the technological demonstrator of a wind power generator system using a wind sail to capture the high altitude wind energy. The sail will capture the wind energy and will be raised to an altitude of minimum 100-200 meters to capture the stronger and more constant winds at this altitude. Flight attitude control will be done via an active control hub named WCU (Wing Control Unit) attached to the cable at about 10m from the sail. The ground station will be made up, at large, of a drum that will hold and wrap the push-pull towing and control cable, a flywheel for storing the mechanical energy, a centrifugal clutch coupled to an electric motor used in rewinding the towing cable on the drum and of course the electric generator. The system will have an electronic command and control unit that will launch the sail from the platform, guide the sail to the cruise altitude, control of the flight trajectory in the wind and on the return path, optimal landing on the platform in case of storm or other weather vagaries. The demonstrator system will be sized to generate approximately 20kVA. Current calculations show the need of a sail area of about 25m2 to achieve this power ratting. © 2023 International Multidisciplinary Scientific Geoconference. All rights reserved.

The swirling flow with cavitation can cause pressure pulsations in a draft tube of a hydro turbine at off-design operating conditions. Especially at the full load condition, the cavitation volume may fluctuate greatly, causing pressure pulsations with flow rate fluctuations known as cavitation surge throughout the hydraulic system. The cases that predicted the phenomenon qualitatively using the CFd analysis have been reported previously, whereas the methods to predict the cavitation volume and the fluctuation frequency in the cavitation surge condition quantitatively have not yet been established. Therefore, in this study, unsteady CFd analysis was conducted for the experimental apparatus that simulates the flow in the draft tube downstream of a runner using the stationary guide vane and the venturi tube. In CFd analysis, the influence of the turbulence models by using LES and SST and the influence of the number of meshes in LES simulation were investigated. It was founded that LES simulation captured the vortex generation finely and improved the prediction accuracy of the cavitation volume than SST simulation. On the other hand, it was founded that too fine mesh has a small effect on the prediction accuracy of the cavitation volume, although the resolution of the vortex is improved. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Implementation of inverter-based resources (IBrs) accompanied with phasing out of unabated thermal power plants for decarbonisation brings stability challenges to future power grids. For ensuring the stable operation of IBrs, short-circuit level is a key criterion. Short-circuit level can be improved by installing synchronous condensers, which provide short-circuit current, reactive power, and inertia to the power system. The installation place of synchronous condensers affects the improvement of short circuit level and voltage profile of the power grid. However, the optimal placement problem of synchronous condensers becomes a Mixed-Integer Nonlinear Programming problem, which is too complex to be solved directly, due to the nonlinearity of the short circuit level and reactive power flow. To solve this complex problem, we applied Benders decomposition with a linearisation of the short circuit constraint. Preliminary evaluation with WSCC 9-bus and IEEE 118-bus standard system models on single period ensures that the proposed approach can provide a solution for improving short circuit level and reducing total expenditure. © 2023 IEEE.

Since deep learning inference involves a significant amount of computations, there have been a lot of efforts to accelerate the inference process by eliminating ineffectual compu-tations. As a solution to this problem, several sparsity-aware deep learning accelerators have been proposed. These accelerators perform the inference on compressed data (filters and feature maps) and dynamically remove the ineffectual multiplications with zero operands. For efficiently handling the compressed data on the accelerators, a simple and effective compression scheme, which encodes the whole data with its nonzero values and their positions, is necessary. However, prior approaches have several shortcomings, such as low compression efficiency and high complexity in compression and decompression hardware. This paper proposes a low-cost compression scheme that can be applied to sparsity-aware deep-learning accelerators. The compression scheme synergistically combines two low-cost compression schemes: Zero-Value Compression (ZVC) and Base-delta-Immediate Compression (BdI). Our experimental evaluation shows that the proposed compression scheme achieves an average compression ratio of 2.26, resulting in 2.33x performance improvement, © 2025 IEEE.

In the automotive industry, thermal imaging systems are increasingly explored for night vision applications. Building on our previous study, which introduced a region-based contrast enhancement algorithm designed to deliver consistent performance across varying driving environments, this paper focuses on a detailed performance analysis based on different parameters. Specifically, we investigate the algorithm's effectiveness using four operation bits (8, 10, 12, and 14) and four divided region (dr) parameters (4, 8, 16, and 32). Our experimental results demonstrate that the algorithm meets real-time processing requirements and performs optimally with an 8-bit operation and a dr parameter of 16. These findings indicate that this configuration provides the best balance between performance and real-time processing capabilities. Based on these results, we aim to offer users the most effective performance solutions for future night vision applications utilizing thermal imaging systems.
