This work consists of presenting a brief review of the evolution of metallic connection technologies in busbars applied to the front and rear of solar cells, thus demonstrating their fundamentals, materials and essential manufacturing processes that impact on improving the energy efficiency of solar modules. In this brief review, one can follow the technical limitations that led to the evolution of metallic connection technologies in busbars over time and their impacts on the photovoltaic market. Contributing to a broad understanding of the resistive components of solar cells that consists of the series resistance parameter.

Ageing is a natural and unavoidable process that all humans go through, and it is marked by a series of typical physical, psychological, and social changes. Increasing social isolation and loneliness are severe yet underappreciated public health risks, affecting people of all ages and backgrounds. Therefore, we propose to co-design a novel Television Enable Application (TEA) for healthy ageing in this study. Our co- designed AI-based television-enabled application (TEA) can adapt to home television, which is universally helpful in enabling older people and others to connect with befriending services. In this paper, we have completed an extensive literature review and propose a framework for co-designing the application with older people. We adopt an agile approach to developing TEA with iterations, inception, and elaboration, of the prototype. Additionally, a co-creation methodology and a quantitative evaluation of social isolation and loneliness will be used to improve the prototype between the inception and elaboration phases and assess the impact of TEA on social isolation and loneliness. To evaluate the effectiveness of befriending and of TEA versus traditional befriending, we propose a series of mixed two (group: traditional versus TEA) x 2(time: baseline and follow-up) ANOVAs tests will be considered for each questionnaire measure to assess if there are any statistically significant changes in scores over time, and between groups with alpha level 0.05. The developed TEA will be capable of addressing loneliness and isolation by connecting ageing people. TEA will also provide older people with a feature to communicate with care services. © 2022 IEEE.

Quantum dot (Qd) as a color conversion layer (CCL) is gaining increasing attention for use in next generation displays. However, Qd CCL, especially those based on indium phosphide (InP) materials, are vulnerable to oxygen and moisture. Accordingly, even in CCL technology, encapsulation is essential to mitigate performance reduction due to the degradation of color conversion efficiency (CCE). Herein, we employed only acrylic-based resin to produce a uniform encapsulation layer on a CCL, enhancing the CCE reliability of the Qd CCL under ambient conditions. To print a uniform encapsulation layer, we confirmed the significance of the minimized surface energy differences on glass, bank, and Qd film through O2 plasma treatment. We also investigated coating characteristics through adjustment of the drop spacing to analyze the reliability of the CCL. Compared to the CCL without an encapsulation layer, the CCE only showed a decrease of 1.96% at green 9and 3.6% at red light, after 168 hours. The T95 (time to 95% of the initial luminance) was improved from 5.25 hours to 75.02 hours by applying the encapsulation layer. As a result, we enhanced the stability of the InP-based Qd CCL by printing only an organic encapsulation layer using the inkjet printing process. © 2024, The Authors. All rights reserved.

NbN/TiN, TiNb-NX and CH-TiNb-N12 coatings are deposited by rF magnetron sputtering to determine the corrosion resistance. ‘x’ is the flux rate for nitrogen and ‘CH’ signifies the addition of acetylene. In terms of the corrosion resistance, all the coatings have a similar corrosion potential and NbN/TiN multilayer coatings exhibit the lowest corrosion current. The NbN/TiN multilayer has a low pitting potential so severe pitting corrosion is observed on the surface. The results for this study show that a TiNb-N12-CH coating has the best corrosion resistance. It will be applied to corrosion wear resistance field. © 2021 Trans Tech Publications Ltd, Switzerland.

Chromium aluminum nitride (CrAlN) coatings containing Cr2AlN phase were prepared by unbalanced magnetron sputtering followed by annealing at 1000 °C. The crystal structures, X-ray diffraction patterns, and selected area electron diffraction patterns of the Cr2AlN phase were modeled using computer software and compared with experimental observations. A good agreement was found between the two sets of results, thereby confirming the presence of Cr2AlN phase in the coatings. While previous studies have demonstrated the formation of Cr2AlN phase theoretically, this study presents experimental evidence of its physical existence. The potentiodynamic polarization results and interfacial contact resistance measurements show that the CrAlN coating with Cr2AlN phase has excellent corrosion resistance (a corrosion current density of 5.35 × 10−7 A/cm2 and electrical conductivity of 5.5 mΩ·cm2) and is thus a promising candidate for the protection of fuel cell bipolar plates. © 2024 Elsevier B.V.

The development of highly reliable packaging products is paramount, as accurately predicting the thermal resistance values (Theta JA, JB, JC) of IC packages is crucial for calculating maximum power dissipation and mitigating self-heating effects. In this paper, we focus on the prediction and analysis of thermal resistance in packaged products. Traditionally, finite element methods (FEM) are used for simulations to predict thermal resistance. However, these simulations often employ idealized assumptions that may not align with real-world conditions. Furthermore, traditional simulation methods require substantial memory space and high-performance hardware, leading to significantly increased computation times as the complexity of the simulation increases, thereby extending the product verification timeline. Machine learning methods can effectively improve operational speed and reduce costs. This research utilizes datasets generated from past FEM simulations, testing various machine learning models, among which the Artificial Neural Network (ANN) models, a deep learning approach, yielded the best results. These models were then primarily employed for predicting the characteristics of packaged components. The findings indicate that the predicted results closely align with the FEM simulation data, with the percentage error in thermal resistance for QFN packages being less than 5%, thereby achieving structural optimization of packaged products and shortening the design cycle. Additionally, a user interface platform was developed to enhance research efficiency significantly. researchers simply need to select the desired packaging technology product and enter the structural parameters to generate predictive results and visual charts, making it accessible even for operators lacking programming skills. The importance of student achievement in STEM fields remains a key aspect of academic and career success affecting society. Understanding the obstacles and setbacks which affect students is a key aspect to minimizing attrition losses observed in STEM career pathways for underrepresented student demographics. Through developing a system dynamics modeling and simulation framework and evaluating survey responses specifically related to offsetting events in the careerization pipeline, insights can be gained into mitigation strategies. Analysis of system dynamics modeling outputs demonstrates the detrimental effects of obstacles to student achievement; however, elucidating mechanisms present in counterexamples suggests that bolstering student resilience is achievable. Implementing active learning and project-based learning strategies with the specific goal of enabling failure and student development to overcome initial failures can foster development of key individual student traits and behaviors. This approach can be combined with events such as family STEM nights, focus on gateway curriculum that enables student self-efficacy, and implementing near-peer mentoring strategies. The modeling and simulation framework results show that promising improvements can be achieved with resources available across the education and outreach ecosystem, providing substantial benefits to all students with STEM aspirations and to society as a whole.

Scuba diving is a common aquatic leisure sport that many individuals enjoy in the sea. With the increasing number of people participating, there is a corresponding rise in related incidents and accidents. Typically, such events are caused by inadequate user proficiency with equipment, sudden onset of physical symptoms, failure to respond to external obstacles, and equipment malfunctions. As interest in scuba diving grows, the development of diver safety equipment that enhances convenience and usability through the interaction between divers and equipment is crucial, not only to assist underwater activities but also to preemptively prevent accidents. This paper explores the analysis of divers' physiological conditions and diver equipment evaluation criteria. Building upon this, it proposes a HrI(Human-robot Interaction) evaluation system to facilitate the research and development of safety equipment for secure scuba diving operations.
