Fe–Si sheet, which has {110} crystal orientation (Goss-FeSi), consists of Basic domain and Lancet-comb domain. Although the geometric structures of the Lancet-comb domain have been predicted by theoretical aspects, they have not been proved by experimental studies. In this paper, we study the Lancet-comb domain structures of a Fe–Si steel by a volume sensitive method, i.e., transparent X-ray topography (XrT). From the XrT results, we found the parallelogram structures, which is bulk structure of the Lancet-comb domain. The long side of the parallelogram forms about 55° angle to the rolling direction and the short side forms about 35° angle to the rolling direction. We assigned the long side of the parallelogram to {110} domain wall and the short side to {111} domain wall based on the geometric analysis. This Lancet-comb domain model well explains the behavior of the magnetic moments of Goss-FeSi. © 2025 The Iron and Steel Institute of Japan.

Since deep learning inference involves a significant amount of computations, there have been a lot of efforts to accelerate the inference process by eliminating ineffectual compu-tations. As a solution to this problem, several sparsity-aware deep learning accelerators have been proposed. These accelerators perform the inference on compressed data (filters and feature maps) and dynamically remove the ineffectual multiplications with zero operands. For efficiently handling the compressed data on the accelerators, a simple and effective compression scheme, which encodes the whole data with its nonzero values and their positions, is necessary. However, prior approaches have several shortcomings, such as low compression efficiency and high complexity in compression and decompression hardware. This paper proposes a low-cost compression scheme that can be applied to sparsity-aware deep-learning accelerators. The compression scheme synergistically combines two low-cost compression schemes: Zero-Value Compression (ZVC) and Base-delta-Immediate Compression (BdI). Our experimental evaluation shows that the proposed compression scheme achieves an average compression ratio of 2.26, resulting in 2.33x performance improvement,

Anomaly detection is one of the key applications of data utilization in smart factories, particularly in monitoring factory facilities. Early detection and resolution of anomalies, such as system failures, can lead to cost reduction and quality stabilization. One of the targets of abnormality detection applications in the industry section is a refrigerator unit used in food processing factories and warehouses. Anomalies in the early stages in refrigerator units appear in the operating sounds, which can enable their detection. In this study, we propose a method for detecting abnormal sound, extracting abnormal frequency components, and identifying the direction of the abnormal sound source. To identify the direction of the anomalous sound source, multi-channel sound recorded by a microphone array is used. To the best of our knowledge, no method has yet been proposed for anomaly sound detection using multi-channel acoustic data. In the proposed method, anomaly scores calculated in each channel of the microphone array are aggregated to determine whether the entire data is anomalous or not. Anomalous sounds were extracted from the anomaly data using a deep generative model. The extracted anomalous sounds were used to localize the sound source and the direction of the anomalous source was identified. The proposed method improved the precision of anomaly sound detection while maintaining the recall rate of a conservative comparison method. Using the proposed method, anomalous sounds were extracted from the anomaly data, and their arrival directions were identified. © 2022 IEEE.

The classification of small, low-observable airborne targets, such as drones and birds, poses significant challenges due to their low detection rates. Conventional vision sensorbased approaches often suffer from reduced performance in low-visibility environments or adverse weather conditions. Additionally, the integration of infrared sensors alongside camera sensors increases hardware complexity and cost, rendering such solutions inefficient. To address these limitations, we propose a method that leverages deep learning and inverse synthetic aperture radar (ISAr) imaging for accurate target classification, using only radar sensors. Our proposed deep learning-based ISAr image classifier comprises two key components: simulated ISAr image generation and deep learning-based classification. We construct simulated ISAr datasets using point scatter (PS) modeling for quadcopter drones, hexacopter drones, and aircraft, and three-dimension (3d) mesh modeling for birds, unmanned aerial vehicles, and quadcopter drones. The two datasets based on PS and 3d mesh modeling are used to train a proposed deep learning classifier. The proposed classifier can achieve a classification accuracy of 98% on the PS-based dataset and 9 6% on the 3d mesh-based dataset, where scattering was calculated using the physical optics method. © 2025 IEEE.

Kelasu gas field in Tarim Basin is characterized by ultra-deep (6500-8000m), ultra-high temperature (160-19°C) and ultra-high reservoir pressure (110-136MPa). The wellhead pressure during production is also as high as 80-100MPa. rigless well intervention is always difficult to perform because of the high well control risks. Slickline testing, electric line testing and optical fiber monitoring have all been tried, but problems like breaking of slickline, loss of signal, falling of instruments into well, etc. were encountered. A slickline fishing technology has been used for bottom hole well surveillance in this area with many optimizations on the instruments. Grease injection sealing assisted by packing sealing is used to reduce friction of slickline and to guarantee well safety during operation;a choke tube stabilization device is invented to deal with the eccentric wearing of slickline and choke tube;self-supporting lever together with 8 anchor ropes are used to stabilize the blowout prevention tube assembly to withstand the high wind in the mountainous area;grease collection device is used to avoid the discharge of grease into the environment. The technology has been successfully used in more than 70 wells in Kelasu gas field. The interventions include production testing, pressure built up (PBU) testing and well interference test. The maximum setting depth of the manometer reaches 7189 m. The highest wellhead pressure during testing reaches 90 MPa. Longest pressure survey time comes up to 52 days. No surface or downhole problems have been encountered and all the required data have been acquired. The wells were not killed during the intervention so the reservoir is well protected. Well interference tests were conducted in Keshen 8 block using this technology. The results showed very good interwell connectivity and suggested that well spacing should be enlarged. The horizontal section length of shale gas horizontal wells in Sichuan Basin in the south-west of China generally exceeds 2000m. Cuttings are apt to accumulate and form cuttings beds along such long and curve horizontal sections due to low cuttings carrying capacity, which often results in excessive torque and drag or even stuck pipes during drilling process. According to the statistics dada inthe period of Jan. - Oct. 2019, more than 25 stuck pipe incidents and 15 rotary steering tools loss in borehole were reported due to inefficient cuttings transportation in the long horizontal wells in Sichuan Basin. This paper studies the cuttings transportation and cuttings bed formation in horizontal wells. A prediction model for the distribution of cuttings bed was established. A monitoring and analysis software for the cuttings bed and cuttings cleaner with V-shaped spiral blades that is used to agitate the cuttings bed wasdeveloped. The software calculates the distribution and thickness of the cuttings bed according to the well trajectory, wellbore structure, drilling fluid characteristics, etc., and provides the optimal operating parameters for the removal of the cuttings bed by the rotating and reciprocating drill string. Then, the drill cuttings remover in the drill string moves to the predicted position of the drill cuttings, scrapes the drill cuttings and creates a swirling flow during the pipe rotation. The combined application of software and makeup remover can effectively solve the issue of borehole cleaning in long horizontal wells. One of the field applications was carried out in the well Ning 209H12, a shale gas horizontal well in Sichuan Basin. The well experienced excessive torque and drag issue during the tripping of drill string of long horizontal section.
