Coating Structure and Corrosion Mechanism of Zn-19%Al-6%Mg Alloy Coating Layer

The purpose of this report is to compare the coating structure and corrosion mechanism of newly developed Zn-19%Al-6Mg-Si with conventional Zn–Al–Mg alloy coating Zn-11%Al-3%Mg-0.2%Si. In past papers the corrosion resistance of Zn–Al–Mg alloy coating layers was mainly discussed based on analysis methods that focus on one aspect of early corrosion stage. However, this report focuses on the changes in the corrosion mechanism until the end of the coating lifespan and picks up the factors of the coating layer that contribute to corrosion resistance. The results of the corrosion cross section images of the Zn–Al–Mg alloy coating layer after cyclic corrosion test suggested that corrosion of the coating layer progresses selectively in each phase, which means each phase has its own electrochemical potential. Considering the differences in the corrosion mechanisms of these two coated steel sheets, it was suggested that the phase proportion of the coating layer and the unique potential determine the corrosion resistance of the coating layer. © 2025 The Iron and Steel Institute of Japan.

Classical Computing (CC) takes place in the binary form of 0 and 1, whereas Quantum Computing (QC) takes place adhering to fundamental principles of quantum mechanics, i.e., superposition, entanglement, and tunneling. Humanity is in the race to show that QC is better than CC in terms of time, accuracy, and memory requirements. But since Fault-Tolerant QC hardware with solving problems computationally exhaustive for today’s CC are out of reach, we in this paper emulate Use case of the recommendation System on Quantum Singular Value Transform Framework (QSVT) of Quantum-Inspired Machine Learning (QiML) on CPU using the Qiskit Library, pyqsp library and have shown a quantum advantage in terms of accuracy, in terms of time and memory requirement classical implementation is a winner as computations in the Quantum Emulations are larger owing to unitary matrix conversions of input matrix and considerable depths, but these depths can be reduced to approximate the target polynomial function in which case the Quantum Implementation is comparable to/better than its counterpart at cost of *** entanglement principle of QM is used in the QSVT Circuit for entangling the QSVT Qubit with unitary Qubits by using the CNOT gates. Also, the entanglement principle is inherently present in the Input User Preference rating Unitary Matrix as well, if the exact tensor decomposition at a break-off qubit length of the input user preference unitary matrix is not *** input quantum state of our QSVT circuit can be initialized to the superposition of input user states to access all the items corresponding to all the users in one run of the circuit. Hence by using the fundamental principles of quantum mechanics, we have shown quantum advantage over classical implementation in terms of accuracy. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2025.

As semiconductor devices shrink and their manufacturing processes advance,accurately measuring in-cell critical dimensions(Cd)becomes increasingly *** test element group(TEG)measurements are becoming inadequate for representing the fine,repetitive patterns in cell *** non-destructive metrology technologies like optical critical dimension(OCd)are limited due to their large spot diameter of approximately 25μm,which impedes their efficacy for detailed in-cell structural ***,there is a pressing need for small-spot and non-destructive metrology *** address this limitation,we demonstrate a microsphere-assisted hyperspectral imaging(MAHSI)system,specifically designed for small spot optical metrology with *** microsphere-assisted super-resolution imaging,this system achieves an optical resolution of 66 nm within a field of view of 5.6μm×5.6μ*** approach effectively breaks the diffraction limit,significantly enhancing the magnification of the *** MAHSI system incorporating hyperspectral imaging with a wavelength range of 400–790 nm,enables the capture of the reflection spectrum at each camera *** achieved pixel resolution,which is equivalent to the measuring spot size,is 14.4 nm/pixel and the magnification is *** MAHSI system enables measurement of local uniformity in critical areas like corners and edges of drAM cell blocks,areas previously challenging to inspect with conventional OCd *** our knowledge,this approach represents the first global implementation of microsphere-assisted hyperspectral imaging to address the metrology challenges in complex 3d structures of semiconductor devices.

Parametric analysis and model selection for economic evaluation of survival data

Health technology assessments of interventions impacting survival often require extrapolating current data to gain a better understanding of the interventions' long-term benefits. Both a comprehensive examination of the trial data up to the maximum follow-up period and the fitting of parametric models are required for extrapolation. It is standard practice to visually compare the parametric curves to the Kaplan-Meier survival estimate (or comparison of hazard estimates) and to assess the parametric models using likelihood-based information criteria. In place of these two steps, this work demonstrates how to minimize the squared distance of parametric estimators to the Kaplan-Meier estimate. This is in line with the selection of the model using Mean Squared Error, with the modification that the unknown true survival is replaced by the Kaplan-Meier estimate. We would assure the internal validity of the extrapolated model and its appropriate representation of the data by adhering to this procedure. We use both simulation and real-world data with a scenario where no model that properly fits the data could be found to illustrate how this process can aid in model selection. © 2024-IOS Press. Lean NOx trap is a dedicated deNOx catalyst for lean hybrid gasoline engines. Noble metals (usually platinum group metals) play the role of catalytic sites for NOx oxidation and reduction, which have significant impact of the performance of LNT. This work focuses on the influence of noble metal catalysts on self-inhibition effect from the view of competitive adsorption between NO and CO, and investigates the influence of CO self-inhibition effect on the main by-product of LNT: N2O formation. Adsorption configurations for NO, CO and N2O on noble metal clusters supported by γ-Al2O3(100) are confirmed. For detailed investigation, electron structures are analyzed by investigating Bader charge, dOS (density of state), charge density differences and COHP (crystal orbital Hamilton population) of selected *** results show that CO self-inhibition effect is caused by competitive adsorption between CO and NO. The essence of competitive adsorption between CO and NO is that adsorption process of CO and NO on catalytic sites is similar. Excessive adsorption of CO on the catalytic site occupies the catalytic site and limits the NO adsorption and subsequent processes, making NO conversion efficiency decrease. Competitive adsorption between CO and NO will limit NO adsorption and dissociation, thus limiting N2O formation. Meanwhile, stronger adsorption of N2O on catalytic sites will make N2O desorption difficult. © 2025 SAE International.

Inhalation provides an opportunity to target drugs to the lung, potentially improving efficacy and safety margins for the treatment of respiratory conditions. The discovery of inhaled medicines is a specialized endeavor and has different challenges to medicinal chemistry for oral drugs. The appearance of a successful campaign delivering an inhaled PI3K delta inhibitor is therefore an opportunity to highlight how a team can address the challenges involved in the identification of such a compound. This Viewpoint seeks to highlight a great example of medicinal chemistry in the inhaled space.

Silicone rubber as a wide spread material with high thermal/chemical stability yet high mechanical flexibility and play an important role in emerging flexible hybrid electronics of bio-medical device and deformable IoT units. However, limited direct fabrication method was provided with low fabrication speed and poor quality after either machining and chemical etching. In this study, ultrashort pulse laser utilized for high fabrication performance with high quality was proposed and demonstration on FHE was realized as well. © 2024 Japan Institute of Electronics Packaging.
