The current work aims to develop computational models for the thermal characteristics of turbulent CH4flames for varying burner dimensions. This study develops a platform for data-driven analysis of temperature prediction of turbulent non-premixed flames, in which the influence of flow and geometric parameters, including burner head diameter (d), half cone angles (α), and co-flow air velocity (Ucf), have been considered. The algorithms used were ridge regressor (rr), linear regressor (Lr), and three variations of support vector regression (SVr): SVr with a linear kernel (SVr-Lr), SVr with a radial basis function (SVr-rBF), and SVr with a polynomial kernel (SVr-Poly). The performance of each computational model was evaluated and contrasted based on several metrics: mean absolute error, regression coefficient (r2), mean absolute percentage error, and mean Poisson deviance. From the modeling of the output data, it was observed that the SVr-rBF predictions were more accurate compared to those from the other algorithms, as it achieved the highest training value of 0.955. The testing predictions of rr, SVr-Lr, SVr-rBF, and SVr-Poly algorithms were also robust, withr2values ranging between 0.91 and 0.94. It is, therefore, established that these computational models are effectively suited for predicting sensitive turbulent CH4flame characteristics based on varying input factors.

The longer survival of virus and bacteria under low temperature greatly accelerates the infection risk and duration. How to effectively and rapidly inactivate them beneath ice layer in cold chain logistics has been an important issue never being well studied. Here, we demonstrate a novel light condenser design of high power UVC-LEd device for rapid penetrating inactivation through ice layers. With fish-scale, ellipsoidal and alumina coated condenser, a portable UVC (275 nm) LEd device in ultrahigh light output power (> 3 W) was fabricated in a narrowed propagation angle (< 60^o). Such condensed light beams are able to overcome the interfacial refringence at the ice and bubble interfaces in different types of ice layers for enhancing the transmission rate. As a result, the penetrating UVC light could give rise to the effective necrosis and apoptosis influence as well as dNA/rNA destruction on cells. A 99.99 % inactivation rate of Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus has been obtained through 5-mm-thickness opaque ice layer. By 1.5 s irradiation, SArS-COV-2 virus can be completely inactivated and disinfected. This work proved the strong power of UVC-LEd for cold chain disinfection applications. © 2025

Common visualization methods require an underlying grid. For visualization of scattered data samples it is required to approximate the data at the same grid using some interpolation technique. It is common that the data samples are positive and representing the quantities for which negative value is meaningless. For example mass, volume and density are meaningless when negative. Modified Quadratic Shepard method is a commonly used method for gridding purposes. However it does not preserve positivity for inherently positive data sets. This paper discusses the problem of gridding inherently positive data sets for real time visualization applications using Modified Quadratic Shepard's method. Key requirement for an algorithm to be used for real time application is its predictable timing behavior. We present an efficient and deterministic alternative Quadratic Shepard Method as a solution to the problem of visualization of multivariate positive data in real time. © 2006 IEEE.

The speech corpus often needs to be constructed frequently for the diversified speech synthesis. This paper discusses our efforts on construction of speech corpus automatically from broadcasting speech databases for trainable Text-To-Speech (TTS) system. We present a new framework of automatic speech corpus construction from broadcasting speech databases. We select the clean speech audios from the broadcasting audios with a music detector which is based on speech/music discrimination. An automatic speech sentence segmentation system is used to generate the sentence database from the clean speech audios. At last, a text corpus construction method selects appropriate sentences speech which is maximizing the coverage of the sentence database's diphones. Experiments show that our method can generate a good speech corpus rapidly with minimum manual intervention. © 2010 IEEE.

In many AI settings an agent is comprised of both action-planning and action-execution components. We examine the relationship between the precision of the execution component, the intelligence of the planning component, and the overall success of the agent. Our motivation lies in determining whether higher execution skill rewards more strategic playing. We present a computational billiards framework in which the interaction between skill and strategy can be experimentally investigated. By comparing the performance of different agents with varying levels of skill and strategic intelligence we show that intelligent planning can contribute most to an agent's success when that agent has imperfect skill. We introduce a game setting called a joint process, where the history of actions determine the state, and the state and agent properties determine the payoff. This setting is a special case of stochastic games and is a natural model for situations with alternating control. Joint process games have applications as diverse as aggregate rating sites and wiki page updates. These games are related to Black's median voter theorem and also strongly connected to Moulin's strategy-proof voting schemes. When each agent has a personal goal, we look at how the play converges under a simple myopic action rule, and prove that not only do these simple dynamics converge, but the actions selected also form a Nash equilibrium. The convergence point is not the mean or the median of the set of agent goals;instead we prove the convergence point is the median of the set of agent goals and a set of focal points. This work provides the first theoretical model of wiki-type behavior and opens the door to more questions about the properties of these games. We introduce a constrained mechanism design setting called internal implementation, in which the mechanism designer is explicitly modeled as a player in the game of interest. This distinguished player has the opportunity to modify the game before play. Specifically, the player is able to make reliable binding commitments of outcome-specific monetary transfers to the other players in the game. We characterize the power of internal implementation for certain interesting classes of games, and show that, the impact, of internal implementation on the utility of the players' and the social welfare is often counterintuitive;for example, the social welfare can be arbitrarily worse after an internal implementation. False sharing is a notorious problem for multithreaded applications that can drastically degrade both performance and scalability. Existing approaches can precisely identify the sources of false sharing, but only report false sharing actually observed during execution;they do not generalize across executions. Because false sharing is extremely sensitive to object layout, these detectors can easily miss false sharing problems that can arise due to slight differences in memory allocation order or object placement decisions by the compiler. In addition, they cannot predict the impact of false sharing on hardware with different cache line sizes. This paper presents PrEdATOr, a predictive softwarebased false sharing detector. PrEdATOr generalizes from a single execution to precisely predict false sharing that is latent in the current execution. PrEdATOr tracks accesses within a range that could lead to false sharing given different object placement. It also tracks accesses within virtual cache lines, contiguous memory ranges that span actual hardware cache lines, to predict sharing on hardware platforms with larger cache line sizes. For each, it reports the exact program location of predicted false sharing problems, ranked by their projected impact on *** evaluate PrEdATOr across a range of benchmarks and actual applications. PrEdATOr identifies problems undetectable with previous tools, including two previously-unknown false sharing problems, with no false positives. PrEdATOr is able to immediately locate false sharing problems in MySQL and the Boost library that had eluded detection for years. Copyright © 2014 ACM.

In this paper, we introduce the 3d caricature generations system working on the mobile handset. Mobile handset is quite a good research target because of popular use and has restrictions on using general method used on PC computing environment. We propose simple but quite effective algorithm on face detection and face modeling. These algorithms do not degrade the performance of the system and show good results at the experiment. The proposed system use our own OpenGL-ES implementation which shows good performance compared with commercial implementation result for 3d graphics. Based on the good 3d capability, we can implement efficient morphing algorithm and animation effect. Additionally, we can have the ability to change caricature's accessory, background image and put emotional effect, aging effect on generated caricature. Although the result image is not same with drawing image by artist but gets satisfactory feedback from users who used this system. © 2007 IEEE.

Cloud storage has been widely used because it can provide seemingly unlimited storage space and flexible access way, while the rising cost of storage and communications is an issue. In this paper, we propose a data deduplication System Framework(ddSF) for cloud storage environments. The ddSF consists of three major components, the client, fingerprint server and storage component. The client component divides file into chunks and calculates hash value of each chunk. And it only sends the chunk whose hash value has not existed in fingerprint server component to the storage component, so it can reduce consumption of communications and storage space. We developed an Index File System(IFS) to manage the metadata of user file in fingerprint server. The fingerprint server component maintains a hash table containing the hash values of chunks already stored in storage component. This paper presents a two-level indexing mechanism to improve the both spatial and temporal overhead to access to the hash table. The first level employs the Bloom Filter and the second level uses hash table partition mechanism. In order to reduce the possibility of accidental collision of data block hash value, we use two hash algorithms to calculate the hash value of the chunk. We further conduct some experiments in our framework. The results of these experiments demonstrate that framework proposed in this paper can improve storage space utilization and reduce consumption of communications.
