This paper deals with the topic of qLPV state-space model based control design in which LMIs are used to optimize the multi-objective control performance. In this paper we investigate how the convex hull of the polytopic model influences the control performance of the LMI based control design. We examine these influences through the controller and observer design of the two dimensional aeroelastic wing's example. First we define various TP type polytopic model representations of a wing section whose vertices define different convex hulls. In the second step we investigate how these models change the control performance.

Hydrocephalus is a neurological disorder which is associated with disturbed cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) system dynamics. Estimation of dynamical parameters is an important part of the diagnosis process, and can be performed via a controlled infusion of artificial CSF into the lumbar cavity. Current methods for testing and data analysis are not optimized in any way and may be very inaccurate. Maximizing information and minimizing experiment time are important for accuracy of the diagnosis, efficient use of hospital resources, and minimizing discomfort for the patient. In this paper, we show that a known and proven nonlinear differential equation model of the CSF dynamics can be transformed into a linear time invariant system via a nonlinear change of variables. After this change of variables, the parameter estimation problem becomes a standard system identification problem. We address important issues such as model validation, prefiltering and disturbance modelling. We present experimental results on a phantom, as well as preliminary data from a clinical trial currently in progress.

The objective of the discrete-time modeling tools is twofold. First, they give an insight into the basic ideas of discrete-time modeling of dc-dc converters for university students and interested power electronics specialists. Second, as it is being presented below, the interactive calculation tools facilitate the fast and simple model development in WEB browser after entering the basic circuit and load parameters. This feature can especially be useful for the practicing design engineers, since without long calculations with matrix functions the linearized discrete-time system model is immediately and automatically developed in both mathematical form (state-space equations and transfer functions in the Z domain) and also in graphical form (pole-zero map and bode plot).

Vehicle Ad-hoc Network (VANET) is a kind of Mobile Ad-hoc Network (MANET) that establishes wireless connection between cars. In VANETs and MANETs, the topology of the network changes very often, therefore implementation of efficient routing protocols is very important problem. In MANETs, the random Waypoint (RW) model is used as a simulation model for generating node mobility pattern. On the other hand, in VANETs, the mobility patterns of nodes is restricted along the roads, and is affected by the movement of neighbour nodes. In this paper, we present a simulation system for VANET called CAVENET (Cellular Automaton based Vehicular NETwork). In CAVENET, the mobility patterns of nodes are generated by an 1-dimensional cellular automata. We improved CAVENET and implemented some routing protocols. We investigated the performance of the implemented routing protocols by CAVENET. The simulation results have shown that DYMO protocol has better performance than AODV and OLSR protocols.

The mobile cellular systems are expected to support multiple services with guaranteed Quality of Service(QoS). But, the ability of wireless systems to accommodate expected growth of traffic load and broadband services is limited by available radio frequency spectrum. Call Admission Control (CAC) is one of the resource management functions, which regulates network access to ensure QoS provisioning. However, the decision for CAC is very challenging issue due to user mobility, limited radio spectrum, and multimedia traffic characteristics. In our previous work, we proposed a fuzzy-based CAC system by considering the priority of the on-going connections. As priority parameter, we considered only one parameter (service request). In this work, we extend our work by adding different priorities. We call this system FACS-MP. We evaluate by simulations the performance of the proposed system. From the simulations results, we conclude that the FACS-MP can differentiate better different services compared with previous system.

Cluster formation and cluster head selection are important problems in sensor network applications and can drastically affect the network's communication energy dissipation. However, selecting of the cluster head is not easy in different environments which may have different characteristics. In our previous work, in order to deal with this problem, we proposed a power reduction algorithm for sensor networks based on fuzzy logic and number of neighbour nodes. We call this algorithm F3N. In this paper, we evaluate F3N and LEACH by some simulation results. From the simulation results, we found that the probability of a not to be a cluster head is increased with increase of number of neighbour nodes and remained battery power decrease of distance from the cluster centroid.

From the simulations results, we conclude that the FACS-MP make a good differentiation of different services and has better behaviour than FACS-P.

Sensor networks are a sensing, computing and communication infrastructure that are able to observe and respond to phenomena in the natural environment and in our physical and cyber infrastructure. The sensors themselves can range from small passive micro-sensors to larger scale, controllable weather-sensing platforms. In order to simulate Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs), we implemented a simulation system as a Digital Eco-System (DES) approach. We implement our system as a multi-modal system considering different topologies, radio models, routing protocols, MAC protocols, and different number of nodes. However, in this work, we consider the goodput metric and evaluate the performance of WSN for AODV and TworayGround model considering different topologies and number of nodes. To reduce the consumed energy of a large scale WSN network, we consider a mobile sink node in the observing area. We investigate how the sensor network performs in the case when the sink node moves. We compare the simulation results for two cases: when the sink node is mobile and stationary. The simulation results have shown that for the case of mobile sink, the goodput of random topology is better than the case of lattice. In the case of stationary sink, the goodput is unstable. In case of mobile sink, the goodput is stable and better than in case of stationary sink.

Sensor networks supported by recent technological advances in low power wireless communications along with silicon integration of various functionalities are emerging as a critically important computer class that enable novel and low cost applications. There are many fundamental problems that sensor networks research will have to address in order to ensure a reasonable degree of cost and system quality. Cluster formation and cluster head selection are important problems in sensor network applications and can drastically affect the network's communication energy dissipation. However, selecting of the cluster head is not easy in different environments which may have different characteristics. In our previous work, in order to deal with this problem, we proposed a power reduction algorithm for sensor networks based on fuzzy logic and number of neighbor nodes. We call this algorithm F3N. In this paper, we implement a simulation system for clustering algorithms in sensor networks. We evaluate LEACH and F3N by some simulation results. Presently, we have implemented LEACH algorithm in NS-2. However, F3N is implemented in MATLAB. We are working to implement also F3N system in NS-2 in order to compare their performance.

We compare the simulation results for two cases: when the sink node is mobile and stationary considering lattice and random topologies using AODV protocol. The simulation results have shown that for the case of mobile sink, the consumed energy is better than the stationary sink (about half of stationary sink in lattice topology). Also for mobile sink, the consumed energy of lattice topology is better than random topology.
