The face mask is an essential sanitaryware in daily lives growing during the pandemic period and is a big threat to current face recognition systems. The masks destroy a lot of details in a large area of face, and it makes it difficult to recognize them even for humans. The evaluation report shows the difficulty well when recognizing masked faces. rapid development and breakthrough of deep learning in the recent past have witnessed most promising results from face recognition algorithms. But they fail to perform far from satisfactory levels in the unconstrained environment during the challenges such as varying lighting conditions, low resolution, facial expressions, pose variation and occlusions. Facial occlusions are considered one of the most intractable problems. Especially when the occlusion occupies a large region of the face because it destroys lots of official features. © 2022, CC BY.

In this paper, we consider a novel hybrid reconfigurable intelligent surface (HRIS) consisting of active as well as passive reflecting elements mounted on unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV). The aim is to improve air-to-ground communication by assisting multiple users, while detecting several moving targets. We formulate an optimization model that account for statistical channel estimation errors (SCEEs) to concurrently fine-tune both active and passive phase-shift matrices, UAV trajectory and transmit beamformer for integrated sensing and communication (ISAC), while aiming to maximize the overall achievable sum-rate. Subsequently, we introduce an alternating optimization algorithm that employs a repetitive method to address the combinatorial nonconvex optimization problem and ultimately yielding a solution that is nearly optimal. Using Monte Carlo simulations, we showcase the superiority of the suggested approach in comparison to baseline schemes.

The traveling salesman problem (TSP) famously asks for a shortest tour that a salesperson can take to visit a given set of cities in any order. In this paper, we ask how much faster k ≥ 2 salespeople can visit the cities if they divide the task among themselves. We show that, in the two-dimensional Euclidean setting, two salespeople can always achieve a speedup of at least 1/2 + 1/π ≈ 0.818, for any given input, and there are inputs where they cannot do better. We also give (non-matching) upper and lower bounds for k ≥ 3. Copyright © 2025, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Growing environmental concerns and the need for sustainable living have increased interest in eco-friendly materials for noise reduction, leading to research on natural and biodegradable alternatives to traditional synthetic sound absorbers. This study investigates the acoustic performance of sound-absorbing panels fabricated from nonwoven poly(lactic acid) (PLA) fibers blended with hemp fibers. The panels were produced with PLA-to-hemp fiber ratios of 100/0, 75/25, 50/50, 25/75, and 0/100 (by weight). Hemp fibers underwent alkali treatment (NaOH) to remove lignin and hemicellulose, which was confirmed by FTIR analysis, showing an increase in C=C stretching (1600–1740 cm⁻1) of cellulose compounds and a reduction in C–C aromatic rings. Morphologic analysis revealed that alkali treatment smoothed the hemp fiber surface by removing wax and lignin, reducing the average fiber diameter from 23.31 to 18.39 µm. To enhance structural integrity and acoustic efficiency, sandwiched PLA/hemp woven fabrics were incorporated as outer layers. The impedance tube method demonstrated that PLA fibers exhibited higher sound absorption than hemp fibers. The sandwiched PLA/hemp (50/50, treated) configuration achieved the highest sound absorption coefficient, attributed to increased porosity and surface area, enhanced acoustic impedance matching, and improved airflow resistivity. These findings confirm the potential of PLA/hemp biocomposites as eco-friendly sound absorption materials, offering a sustainable alternative for acoustic applications.

Market forecasts are more precise and effective thanks to the analysts. For providing higher returns, the trading firms efficiently mitigate the risk using Artificial Intelligence Techniques. Our proposed Stock Market system is a Web Application which uses the random Forest Algorithm. The random Forest Algorithm comes under Supervised Learning. With the system, one can forecast the stock prices for the subsequent days.

In this paper a detailed description of the design and implementation of a system capable of detecting various obstacles for wheelchairs is provided. This system is part of a larger project that its goal is to create intelligent applications for patients using powered wheelchairs. The system is implemented on an electric wheelchair using low-cost ultrasonic and infrared sensors. All tests took place in indoor environment inside our laboratories, and the performance of the system is found to be adequate for the purposes of our project. © 2022 IEEE.

Data breach is a serious issue as it leaks the personal information of more than billions of users and their privacy is compromised. More than 77% of organizations do not have a Cyber Security Incident Response plan. So, it is necessary to be informed of network security and ways to store and generate secured passwords. Having different and random passwords for ones digital accounts can exponentially increase the security of user’s data. The goal of this project is to build a password manager which can securely store and encrypt passwords and other data. The multifactor authentication will provide increased security to validate the user into password management system. Multifactor authentication system includes physical security key and graphical password authentication.

5G communication systems provide an end-to-end wireless connection to billions of users and devices across the globe. The quality of signals received during radio communication is notably influenced by the behavior of the radio propagation channel. A major parameter used in characterizing this channel is the Path Loss Exponent (PLE). Several works that have estimated and analyzed the PLE mostly considered the effect of distance and carrier frequency. However, the effect of base station antenna height and channel bandwidth on the PLE for 5G networks have not been adequately considered. To address this, the impact of antenna height of base station and channel bandwidth on the PLE within the 5G Frequency range 1 (FR1) frequencies was investigated in this study, specifically at 800, 3500, and 5900 MHz. The licensed EDX Signal Pro software® with Cirrus high resolution global terrain and clutter data base was utilized to model, simulate and analyze the PLE for Kano City, Nigeria. Results showed that for the tested frequencies, an increase in either base station height or channel bandwidth leads to a significant reduction in the PLE. This study can be utilized by network planning engineers and the wireless research community to further improve network implementation and optimization toward understanding the behavior of signal propagation in 5G networks and beyond. © 2023 IEEE.

This paper presents an analysis of a data set to determine the factors influencing airline passenger satisfaction. The study examines various criteria such as gender, customer type, age, travel type, class, and range to assess their impact on passenger satisfaction. The dataset consists of 25 columns, including attributes like Wi-Fi availability, convenience of online booking, seat comfort, in-flight entertainment, baggage handling, and overall satisfaction. The sample is relatively balanced, with equal representation of men and women, predominantly repeat customers, and a majority flying for business purposes. Key findings include a strong correlation between departure and arrival delays, higher satisfaction among passengers in business class, and positive ratings for Wi-Fi service correlating with overall satisfaction. Correlation analysis reveals interdependencies between different attributes, such as the influence of cleanliness on seat comfort and food and beverage ratings. In addition, a neural network forecasting model is used to estimate the average ratings of passengers, although with low accuracy, which was later excluded. Finally, a decision tree algorithm is utilized to identify the most significant attributes affecting passenger satisfaction words. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2024.
