This paper investigates the advancement of magnetic induction-based heart and respiration rate sensing by actively controlling the coil current. This is realized through the implementation of a current-starved inverter mechanism. Experiments show a notable level of accuracy of the proposed circuit in measuring heart and respiration activity when compared to a reference sensor. The direct manipulation of current levels was found to have a direct impact on the signal strength. Incrementing the overall current within the proposed circuit from 60 mA to 100 mA resulted in an augmentation of the output amplitude of the heart rate signal from 8.5 mV to 27 mV, accompanied by a marginal enhancement in beat-to-beat interval accuracy. Moreover, the proposed sensor demonstrates noteworthy precision in monitoring the respiratory rate when compared with the reference sensor under different current values, exhibiting the same trend in signal strength. This finding offers valuable insight for the development of future power-optimized magnetic induction sensors with enhanced robustness. © 2024 IEEE.

The goal of this study is to develop and test an automated integrated speech analysis system for detecting mild cognitive impairment (MCI) and dementia in spontaneous free speech. During the years 2010–2016, speech recordings (N = 2800) were obtained from 200 Greek Cypriots over the age of 65. Urban pluvial flooding causes threats to human lives, economy, infrastructure, and ecosystems around the world, particularly in developing countries. Pakistan is among those developing countries that have become vulnerable to urban flooding due to global warming, climate change risks, rapid urbanization, and the occurrence of extreme and unusual rainfall events in the monsoon season. To effectively mitigate the adverse effects of pluvial flooding, there is a pressing need for an advanced and accurate predictive model that is capable of predicting urban pluvial flooding. The aim of this research is to utilize the potential of machine learning (ML) techniques and algorithms to accurately predict the occurrence of urban pluvial flooding, for this study we have worked on the monsoon rainfall data of multiple cities of Sindh province in Pakistan. We made an attempt to use multiple ML models especially logistic regression (LR), random forest (RF), k nearest neighbor (KNN), and support vector machine (SVM) to propose the best and accurate predictive model. The developed models were evaluated and assessed using various performance evaluation metrics which includes accuracy, recall, precision and F1 score. The best among proposed models was created using LR which achieved an accuracy of 97%, while the accuracy of other models which were created using SVM, KNN and RF were 96%, 93%, and 92% respectively. © 2024 IEEE.

In the rapidly evolving digital music landscape, identifying similarities between musical pieces is essential to help musicians avoid unintended copyright infringement and maintain the originality of their work. However, detecting such similarities remains a complex and computationally challenging problem. A novel approach to address this issue is a song similarity detection system that utilizes a Siamese Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) with Triplet Loss for effective audio input comparison. The model is trained on a custom dataset from WhoSampled, an extensive database of information on sampled music, cover songs, and remixes. The dataset comprises pairs of audio samples and interpolations, making it suitable for the Siamese CNN approach. Incorporating Triplet Loss enhances the model's performance by learning discriminative features for improved comparison. The performance of this system is assessed using a confidence interval-based metric, achieving a 96.86% accuracy at a 99.7% confidence level in determining the similarity between music samples. The solution provides a helpful tool for musicians to actively compare their creations with existing songs, helping to reduce the likelihood of unintentional plagiarism and possible legal issues. © 2023 IEEE.

Given the circumstances the healthcare system, the Internet of Things (IoT) is crucial. IoT gadgets offer patient data for the framework of healthcare monitoring. IoT is a key component in every aspect of the health care management system since people can use smart devices to check on their health. Lung cancer is a fatal malignancy, and the likelihood of survival is increased by early identification. Because of the computational difficulty involved in gathering characteristics, it is imperative to design an approach using machine learning techniques for categorising cancer disease because the classification results given by the current methods are inadequate. With the use of the synthetic minority oversampling methods (SMOTE) methodology, the incoming data is pre-processed and balanced. With the help of the binary grey wolf optimisation algorithm (BGWOA), the pertinent features are best chosen. Finally, the suggested model's hyper-parameters are best chosen by the tunicate swarm optimisation (TSA) model, and the classification is carried out by the extreme gradient boosting (XGBoost) model. The experimental analysis demonstrates that the suggested model attained accuracy and recall values of 98% and 95%, respectively, compared to 95% and 95%, respectively, for the identical proposed model without the feature selection (FS) method. © 2023 IEEE.

Emotion recognition in text has become an essential research area within artificial intelligence and natural language processing due to its applications in sentiment analysis, human-computer interaction, and social media analysis. This paper introduces an approach for emotion recognition in social networks using transformer models enhanced with explainability techniques. By leveraging the advanced capabilities of transformers to analyze and classify emotions in written content, our finetuned models achieves high accuracy in identifying emotions according to the Ekman emotional model. The integration of LIME and SHAP provides transparency and interpretability to our model, making it more trustworthy for practical applications. Our findings indicate that models like XLNET report an exceptional performance in emotion recognition tasks. The explainability techniques illustrate the transformer model decision-making processes and the way that they utilize words and their continual information in sentences.

Cloud computing is a modern technology that has become popular today. A large number of requests has made it essential to propose a resources allocation framework for arriving requests. The network can be made more efficient and less costly this way. The cloud–edge paradigm has been considered a growing research area in the computing industry in recent years. The increase in the number of customers and requests for cloud data centers (CDCs) has created the need for robust servers and low power consumption mechanisms. Ways to reduce energy in the CDC having appropriate algorithms for resource allocation. The purpose of this study was to develop an intelligent method for dynamic resource allocation using Takagi–Sugeno–Kang (TSK) neural-fuzzy systems and ant colony optimization (ACO) techniques to reduce energy consumption by optimizing resource allocation in cloud networks. It predicts future loads using a drop-down window to track CPU usage. By optimizing virtual machine migration, ACO can reduce energy consumption. Simulations are provided by examining the implementation and a variety of parameters such as the number of requests made wasted resources, and requests rejected. In this paper, we propose the use of virtual machine migration to accomplish two main goals: evacuating additional and non-optimal virtual machines (scaling and shutting down additional active physical machines) and solving the resource granulation problem. We evaluated and compared our results with literature for rejection rates of virtual and physical machine applications. The performances of our algorithms are compared to different criteria such as performance in request rejection, dynamic CPU resource allocation with reinforcement learning, multi-objective resource allocation, NSGAIII, Whale optimization and Forecast Particle Swarm allocation. A comparison of some evaluation criteria showed that the proposed method is more efficient than other methods. © 2023 Elsevier B.V.

This paper forecasts the microeconomic level household expenditures using a novel hybrid deep learning approach. In terms of research significance, household finance control has a major influence on the finance system within the economy. Accurate forecasting of household finances assists in maintaining positive financial behavior among individuals and the economy. The DeepBoost multi-output regressor proposed in this paper is based on the 1D CNN-ANN and the XGBoost. The proposed model in this paper is compared with the R 2 , MSE, and MAE since it’s a regression problem. The experimental results reveal that the proposed DeepBoost multi-output regressor has the best application in forecasting the multiple expenditures of households by outperforming the ANN, 1D CNN-ANN, and random Forest Regressor models. The proposed DeepBoost multi-output regressor evaluated the housing, food, transportation, healthcare, other necessities, childcare, and tax expenditures that had 0.94, 0.98, 0.83, 0.94, 0.97, 0.97, and 0.99 values for the R 2 , 9037.71, 2692.12, 9788, 15077.33, 1373.93, 13629.36, and 1904.52 values for the MSE, and 66.07, 34.05, 73.17, 87.05, 26.25, 78.74, and 29.47 MAE values than the ANN, RFR, and 1D CNN-ANN models.
