Decision support systems like computer-aided energy system analysis (ESA) are considered one of the main pillars for developing sustainable and reliable energy transformation strategies. Although today's diverse tools can already support decision-makers in a variety of research questions, further developments are still necessary. Intending to identify opportunities and challenges in the field, we classify modelling capabilities (32), methodologies (15) implementation issues (15) and management issues (7) from an extensive literature review. Based on a quantitative expert survey of energy system modellers (N=61) mainly working with simulation and optimisation models, the status of development and the complexity of realisation of those modelling topics are assessed. While the rated items are considered to be more complex than actually represented, no significant outliers are determinable, showing that there is no consensus about particular aspects of ESA that are lacking development. Nevertheless, a classification of the items in terms of a specially defined modelling strategy matrix identifies capabilities like land-use planning patterns, equity and distributional effects and endogenous technological learning as "low hanging fruits" for enhancement, as well as a large number of complex topics that are already well implemented. The remaining "tough nuts" regarding modelling capabilities include non-energy sector and social behaviour interaction effects. In general, the optimisation and simulation models differ in their respective strengths, justifying the existence of both. While methods were generally rated as quite well developed, combinatorial optimisation approaches, as well as machine learning, are identified as important research methods to be developed further for ESA. A model for information processing parameters estimation in distributed systems with a dynamic structure that realize the heterogeneous distributed databases is suggested. With the advancements of various autonomous car projects aiming to achieve SAE Level 5, real-time detection of traffic signs in real-life scenarios has become a highly relevant problem for the industry. Even though a great progress has been achieved in this field, there is still no clear consensus on what the state-of-the-art in this field is. Moreover, it is important to develop and test systems in various regions and conditions. This is why the "Ice Vision" competition has focused on the detection of Russian traffic signs in winter conditions. The IceVisionSet dataset used for this competition features real-world collection of lossless frame sequences with traffic sign annotations. The sequences were collected in varying conditions, including: different weather, camera exposure, illumination and moving speeds. The increasing complexity of medical device (MD) management software requires the adoption of new methodological approaches that pay particular attention to safety issues. The risk analysis is one of the key activities to be carried out by the manufacturer before the development of the software application as it determines the type of documentation to be provided as well as the activities to be performed to place the MD on the market. After the definition of software requirements and their iterative transformation into architectural items and/or units, the manufacturer defines the safety class of each item. The adoption of an axiomatic design approach facilitates this process. This combination of techniques helps to focus the design of medical device software on non-conformities with a clear link to clinical risk. This objective can be achieved by assessing the complexity of the system to be designed, both in terms of its functional size, and as a level of overall clinical risk. In this multi-dimensional perspective, the software effort expressed in function points provides an estimate of the development cost. While the clinical risk analysis allows to quickly identify critical areas, to intervene with the same promptness and to draft a management plan according to the regulations of the various control authorities. © 2019 The Authors, published by EDP sciences.

Cancer home care is a sector of particular relevance for the Italian health service. The budget ceilings imposed by public finance pose the need to reduce hospitalisation costs, moving patients from treatment to home care as much as possible. This is especially true in the field of pediatric oncology, where a protected family environment offers a variety of benefits to young patients and their families. However, in order to guarantee adequate assistance services, an integrated information system for management must be devised as the center of gravity of a coordinated network of, even heterogeneous, actors. This paper focuses on the identification and evolving development of web services for regulation and control of home administration of drug infusion in pediatric oncology. The Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) remains the software architecture of reference, where as the methodological approach is open to a reconsideration of the continuous improvement of the whole process in light of the ceaseless progress of medical science and information technology. In this paper, his goal is achieved by using a methodological design approach that combines the UML modeling based on Case Stories and the process optimization of Axiomatic Design. Case Stories allow the formalization of end users' requirements in UML language, easily interpreted by software developers. On the other hand, Axiomatic Design allows optimizing the design process by identifying the most robust solutions in terms of greater logical coherence and lesser systemic complexity. We analyze a case study focused on the design of web services supporting the home administration of drug infusion, for young cancer patients in home care. Then, we show how the UML-modeling methodology can be used to design new services on the basis of specific Use Cases. Finally, through theAxiomatic design approach we verify the proposed solutions, by identifying the robust set of web services to be implemented. © 2019 The Authors,

Energy system models underpin decisions by energy system planners and operators. Energy system modelling faces a transformation: accounting for changing meteorological conditions imposed by climate change. To enable that transformation, a community of practice in energy-climate modelling has started to form that aims to better integrate energy system models with weather and climate models. Here, we evaluate the disconnects between the energy system and climate modelling communities, then lay out a research agenda to bridge those disconnects. In the near-term, we propose interdisciplinary activities for expediting uptake of future climate data in energy system modelling. In the long-term, we propose a transdisciplinary approach to enable development of (1) energy-system-tailored climate datasets for historical and future meteorological conditions and (2) energy system models that can effectively leverage those datasets. This agenda increases the odds of meeting ambitious climate mitigation goals by systematically capturing and mitigating climate risk in energy sector decision making. © 2022, CC BY-NC-ND.

In this work we present the model for construction of e-trade management system architecture which consists of two basic blocks: the landing Web-pages management unit of the online store is responsible for interacting with the user, receiving orders and collecting primary information and Web-enterprise management unit, responsible for processing orders, their delivery, and all enterprise's business processes realization. We have focused our attention to developing an architecture model for e-trady management system. A service-oriented architecture (SOA) using enterprise service bus (ESB) concept is offered for architectural implementation. In developed e-trade management system architecture we used the method of integrating complex information systems within the information environment based on SOA and ESB technologies, which represents an independent, integrative subsystem for relatively integrated information systems. Typical information systems that belong to the e-trade system are used as services. These web-based services should be developed and used to enhance ESB efficiency. Such web-services implement SOAP and use WSDL (Web Services Description Language), as well as UDDI specification (Universal Description, Discovery and Integration). At that, each typical information system is simultaneously data supplier and data consumer. Each information system handles its own data class, while being able to both transmit and receive, adjust and modify data according to operational information from other information systems within main business processes.

Point cloud learning has lately attracted increasing attention due to its wide applications in many areas, such as computer vision, autonomous driving, and robotics. As a dominating technique in AI, deep learning has been successfully used to solve various 2D vision problems. However, deep learning on point clouds is still in its infancy due to the unique challenges faced by the processing of point clouds with deep neural networks. Recently, deep learning on point clouds has become even thriving, with numerous methods being proposed to address different problems in this area. To stimulate future research, this paper presents a comprehensive review of recent progress in deep learning methods for point clouds. It covers three major tasks, including 3D shape classification, 3D object detection and tracking, and 3D point cloud segmentation. It also presents comparative results on several publicly available datasets, together with insightful observations and inspiring future research directions. Copyright © 2019, The Authors. Motional quantum effects of tunneling methyl radical isolated in solid gases as they appear on experimental electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) spectra are examined. Obtained analytical expressions of the tunneling frequency for methyl rotor/torsional-oscillator utilizing localized Hermite polynomials are compared to full numerical computations and tested against experimental EPR lineshape simulations. In particular, the X-band of methyl radical was displaying partial anisotropy averaging even at lowest temperatures. EPR lineshape simulations involving rotational dynamics were applied for the accurate determination of the potential barrier and the tunneling frequency. Tunneling frequency, as the splitting between the A and E torsional levels by the presence of a periodic C3 model potential with periodic boundary conditions, was computed and related to the EPR-lineshape alteration. The corresponding C2 rotary tunneling about the in-plane axes of methyl was also studied while both the C2 and C3 rotations were compared with the rotation of deuteriated methyl radical. © Nikolas P.
