Space-air-ground integrated networks (SAGINs) are emerging as a pivotal element in the evolution of future wireless networks. Despite their potential, the joint design of communication and computation within SAGINs remains a formidable challenge. In this paper, the problem of energy efficiency in SAGIN-enabled probabilistic semantic communication (PSC) system is investigated. In the considered model, a satellite needs to transmit data to multiple ground terminals (GTs) via an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) acting as a relay. During transmission, the satellite and the UAV can use PSC technique to compress the transmitting data, while the GTs can automatically recover the missing information. The PSC is underpinned by shared probability graphs that serve as a common knowledge base among the transceivers, allowing for resource-saving communication at the expense of increased computation resource. Through analysis, the computation overhead function in PSC is a piecewise function with respect to the semantic compression ratio. Therefore, it is important to make a balance between communication and computation to achieve optimal energy efficiency. The joint communication and computation problem is formulated as an optimization problem aiming to minimize the total communication and computation energy consumption of the network under latency, power, computation capacity, bandwidth, semantic compression ratio, and UAV location constraints. To solve this non-convex non-smooth problem, we propose an iterative algorithm where the closed-form solutions for computation capacity allocation and UAV altitude are obtained at each iteration. Researchers are working hard to face various challenges in the fast-moving field of network security and data exchange. When it comes to encryption techniques, efforts vary to address multiple issues such as computational speed, data size requirements, application scope, etc. that are driven by the purposes of collecting and sharing sensitive data that must be stored and processed securely. This paper proposes an efficient asymmetric cryptosystem that bases on the multiplication of plaintext by a variable public key. The origin of this key is constant, but for each encryption, a random number must be added to it. Therefore, a new public key each time is generated; in other words, a simulation of a one-time pad system. For each message, the sender generates a new secret twin of the public key; The receiver can decrypt all messages encrypted by different twins with a single private key. The proposed probabilistic scheme is linear coding and hence is lightweight, easy to execute, and practical in many areas. We consider the cloud to be an untrusted part that tries to disclose data when decoded by systems, the proposed method provides the additive homomorphic property and ensures data integrity when a homomorphic operation is performed by the cloud; thus, we realize verifiable partial homomorphic encryption.

Collaborative federated learning (CFL) enables device cooperation in training shared machine learning models without reliance on a parameter server. However, the absence of a parameter server also impacts vulnerabilities associated with adversarial attacks, including privacy inference and Byzantine attacks. In this context, this paper introduces a novel CFL framework that enables each device to individually determine the subset of devices to transmit FL parameters to over the wireless network, based on its neighboring devices' location, current loss, and connection information, to achieve privacy protection and robust aggregation. This is formulated as an optimization problem whose goal is to minimize CFL training loss while satisfying the privacy preservation, robust aggregation, and transmission delay requirements. To solve this problem, a proximal policy optimization (PPO)-based reinforcement learning (RL) algorithm integrated with a graph neural network (GNN) is proposed. Compared to traditional algorithms that use global information with high computational complexity, the proposed GNN-RL method can be deployed on devices based on neighboring information with lower computational overhead. Simulation results show that the proposed algorithm can protect data privacy and increase identification accuracy by 15% compared to an algorithm in which devices are partially clustered for model aggregation.

Wireless Charger Network (WCN) emerges as a promising networking paradigm, employing wireless chargers with Wireless Power Transfer (WPT) technology to provide long-term and sustainable energy supply for future networks. Although extensive research has been conducted in this area over the last decade, there is currently no comprehensive survey to compile the latest literature and provide insights into future research directions. To fill this gap, our survey explores the recent developments in the active research area of WCNs. This paper starts by providing a framework of WCNs in detail, covering aspects of network architecture, various charging models, network design issues, and typical applications of WCNs. Then, we give an overview of charger deployment schemes, focusing on omnidirectional, directional, non-radiative, and heterogeneous charger deployments. We also provide an overview of charging scheduling schemes, encompassing power control, time allocation, energy beamforming, and multi-resource scheduling. Moreover, we explore communication optimization schemes, including Medium Access Control (MAC) protocols, routing protocols, broadcast transmission, and data collection. Finally, we highlight some future research directions and present corresponding open issues to advance the research on WCNs. © 1998-2012 IEEE.

With the continuous development of IoT, a number of sensors establish on the roadside to monitor traffic conditions in real time. The continuously traffic data generated by these sensors makes traffic management feasible. However, loss of data may occur due to inevitable sensor failure, impeding traffic managers to understand traffic dynamics clearly. In this situation, it is becoming a necessity to predict missing traffic flow accurately for effective traffic management. Furthermore, the traffic sensor data are often distributed and stored by different agencies, which inhibits the multi-party sensor data sharing significantly due to privacy concerns. Therefore, it has become a major obstacle to balance the tradeoff between data sharing and vehicle privacy. In light of these challenges, we propose a privacy-aware and accurate missing traffic flow prediction approach based on time-aware Locality-Sensitive Hashing technique. At last, we deploy a set of experiments based on a real traffic dataset. Experimental reports demonstrate the feasibility of our proposal in terms of traffic flow prediction accuracy and efficiency while guaranteeing sensor data privacy. © 2022, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

Backdoor attacks pose a significant threat during the model’s training phase. Attackers craft pre-defined triggers to break deep neural networks, ensuring the model accurately classifies clean samples during inference yet erroneously classifies samples added with these triggers. Recent studies have shown that speaker recognition systems trained on large-scale data are susceptible to backdoor attacks. Existing attackers employ unnoticed ambient sounds as triggers. However, these sounds are not inherently part of the training samples themselves. In essence, triggers can be designed to maintain an intrinsic connection with the original speech to enhance stealthiness. Our paper presents a novel attack methodology named Speed Master, which undermines deep neural networks by manipulating the speed of speech samples. Specifically, we execute poison-only backdoor attacks using speed or tempo adjustment. Changes in speech rate have become a common occurrence, as seen on platforms that allow users to adjust playback speed. In real-world scenarios, people naturally adjust their speaking rate depending on the context. As a result, changes in a speaker’s speech rate are typically perceived as normal and are unlikely to raise suspicion. Furthermore, detecting such subtle adjustments becomes challenging for users without reference speech. Our comprehensive experiments demonstrate that Speed Master can achieve an ASR over 99% in the digital domain, with only a 0.6% poisoning rate. Additionally, we validate the feasibility of Speed Master in the real world and its resistance to typical defensive measures. To ensure the security of image information and facilitate efficient management in the cloud, the utilization of reversible data hiding in encrypted images (RDHEI) has emerged as pivotal. However, most existing RDHEI schemes suffer from lower security and limited embedding capacity. To tackle these challenges, we propose a reversible data hiding with secret encrypted image sharing and adaptive coding scheme. Specifically, in the encryption phase, we introduce an improved secret sharing (SS) encryption method based on the chinese remainder theorem for polynomials (CRTP). This method not only improves the security of encrypted images but also vacates a larger room for embedding. In the embedding phase, we introduce an adaptive coding embedding approach using XOR preservation (XORP) and huffman coding, which provides high embedding capacity. Experimental results and security analysis demonstrate that our proposed encryption method achieves optimal values in security indicators for encrypted images, such as information entropy, histograms, NPCR and UACI. The proposed embedding method is superior to some state-of-the-art schemes in terms of embedding capacity. Furthermore, in datasets BOSSBase and BOWS2, the average embedding rates of the proposed embedding approach can reach 2.1745 bpp and 2.0656 bpp, respectively. © 2025 IEEE.

Jointly Optimizing Terahertz based Sensing and Communications in Vehicular Networks: A Dynamic Graph Neural Network Approach

In this paper, the problem of vehicle service mode selection (sensing, communication, or both) and vehicle connections within terahertz (THz) enabled joint sensing and communications over vehicular networks is studied. The considered network consists of several service provider vehicles (SPVs) that can provide: 1) only sensing service, 2) only communication service, and 3) both services, sensing service request vehicles, and communication service request vehicles. Based on the vehicle network topology and their service accessibility, SPVs strategically select service request vehicles to provide sensing, communication, or both services. This problem is formulated as an optimization problem, aiming to maximize the number of successfully served vehicles by jointly determining the service mode of each SPV and its associated vehicles. To solve this problem, we propose a dynamic graph neural network (GNN) model that selects appropriate graph information aggregation functions according to the vehicle network topology, thus extracting more vehicle network information compared to traditional static GNNs that use fixed aggregation functions for different vehicle network topologies. Using the extracted vehicle network information, the service mode of each SPV and its served service request vehicles will be determined. Simulation results show that the proposed dynamic GNN based method can improve the number of successfully served vehicles by up to 17% and 28% compared to a GNN based algorithm with a fixed neural network model and a conventional optimization algorithm without using GNNs. In recent years, as people’s living standards have improved and consumption concepts have been transformed, the demand for purchasing consumer electronics online has continued to grow, further stimulating the development of the logistics industry. Consequently, how to deliver consumer electronics to households at minimal cost has become a crucial factor that limits the development of the consumer technology industry. To tackle this problem, this paper studies the task assignment problem for multiple initially dispersed UAVs to deliver products to target locations while minimizing their total operation time. Each UAV can continuously provide delivery services to multiple target locations within its limited loading capacity and operation time. To solve this problem, we propose several hybrid multipopulation genetic algorithms. First, a novel crossover operator for the genetic algorithms is designed, through which a single parent chromosome can generate offspring individually. Second, two mutation mechanisms are performed to increase gene diversity. Third, multiple local search strategies are employed to enhance the populations’ fitness during each iteration of evolution. An improved 2-opt local search strategy is applied to optimize individual chromosomes when their similarity with the current best chromosome falls below a prescribed threshold. Alternatively, local search strategies are utilized for 1-opt, 2h-opt and interchange processes. Combining local search strategies, genetic operators, and the multi-population mechanism leads to several hybrid multi-population genetic algorithms. Numerical simulations and experimental tests demonstrate that the hybrid multi-population genetic algorithm, integrated with the improved 2-opt and 1-opt local search strategies, exhibits superior performance among the designed hybrid genetic algorithms, the minimum marginal cost algorithm (MMA), and the existing popular Co-evolutionary Multi-population Genetic Algorithm (CMGA).
