Extending OpenStack Monasca for Predictive Elasticity Control

PACE: Reputation-Driven Hierarchical Incentive Mechanism for Trusted Healthcare Transactions in Model Marketplace

Federated learning-based model marketplaces have the potential to securely leverage healthcare data for efficient healthcare transactions. However, the willingness to participate in this marketplace is severely hindered by self-interested model sellers, who maximize their personal gains via distorting the quality of their models. To this end, we propose a rePutation-driven hierArchical inCentive mEchanism, called PACE, which combines contract cooperation and game pricing to motivate model sellers to be honest, thereby improving the sustainability of the model marketplace via two-layer cooperation. Specifically, at the training layer, we design a reward payment rule based on multidimensional contracts, while at the trading layer, we use a competitive market pricing game to develop the accuracy pricing rule. In particular, the above rules cleverly combine the fine-grained model sellers' reputations with the willingness of healthcare devices to indirectly affect the model sellers' utilities. Theoretically, we prove that PACE can effectively incentivize model sellers to truthfully report model quality while satisfying both individual rationality and incentive compatibility with a fairness guarantee. Experimental results conducted on four real-world datasets show that our PACE improves the global performance by up to 12.85% and reduces the global loss by at least 19.23% compared with the state-of-the-art baselines. © 1975-2011 IEEE.

Aiming at the problem that most sentiment analysis methods do not focus on the weight fusion of local context and global context information and the important information in fusion features is not prominent, AIFM-BB (Attention information fusion emotion analysis model based on BiLSTM-BERT) is proposed. The model uses a pre-trained BERT model to process text vectors and a collaborative speech analysis algorithm to process audio vectors, and introduces BiLSTM and Attention mechanisms. The weight of the feature vector is dynamically adjusted by combining the global information and local information of text and audio and the attention information of text and audio modes. The emotion analysis results are obtained through the Softmax layer after the fusion features are self-focused. The experimental results show that the accuracy of the proposed AIFM-BB model on the CMU-MOSI dataset is 85.3%, which is 2.8 percentage points higher than the baseline. In the multi-category emotion classification task, the accuracy of the model is 44.7%, an improvement of 1.1 percentage points compared with baseline. The accuracy is 83.6% on the CMU-MOSEI dataset, an improvement of 1.4 percentage points compared to baseline. © 2024 IEEE.

Inverter topologies for integrating a rooftop photovoltaic (PV) unit into a microgrid are becoming increasingly complex. This paper proposes a high-voltage boosting transformerless inverter (HVBTI) topology for enhancing such applications. The coupled inductor-based high voltage gain feature of the HVBTI configuration allows power to be delivered into the grid from a lower voltage PV source without using higher duties. In addition, HVBTI suppresses leakage current as the common connection shared between the

terminal of the PV source and the grid neutral point. In comparison to existing topologies, the HVBTI topology uses a compact pulse width modulation strategy to control only six controllable switching devices. Again, using lower-rated switching devices is more cost-effective while increasing reliability and efficiency. A comprehensive understanding of the topology of the electric power transmission network (EPTN) is essential for reliable and robust control of power systems. While existing research primarily relies on domain-specific methods, it lacks data-driven approaches that have proven effective in modeling the topology of complex systems. To address this gap, this paper explores the potential of data-driven methods for more accurate and adaptive solutions to uncover the true underlying topology of EPTNs. First, this paper examines Gaussian Graphical Models (GGM) to create an EPTN network graph (i.e., undirected simple graph). Second, to further refine and validate this estimated network graph, a physics-based, domain-specific refinement algorithm is proposed to prune false edges and construct the corresponding electric power flow network graph (i.e., directed multi-graph). The proposed method is tested using a synchrophasor dataset collected from a two-area, four-machine power system simulated on the real-time digital simulator (RTDS) platform. Experimental results show both the network and flow graphs can be reconstructed using various operating conditions and topologies with limited failure cases. © 2024 IEEE.

Simultaneous segmentation and classification of colon cancer polyp images using a dual branch multi-task learning network

Accurate classification and segmentation of polyps are two important tasks in the diagnosis and treatment of colorectal cancers. Existing models perform segmentation and classification separately and do not fully make use of the correlation between the two tasks. Furthermore, polyps exhibit random regions and varying shapes and sizes, and they often share similar boundaries and backgrounds. However, existing models fail to consider these factors and thus are not robust because of their inherent limitations. To address these issues, we developed a multi-task network that performs both segmentation and classification simultaneously and can cope with the aforementioned factors effectively. Our proposed network possesses a dual-branch structure, comprising a transformer branch and a convolutional neural network (CNN) branch. This approach enhances local details within the global representation, improving both local feature awareness and global contextual understanding, thus contributing to the improved preservation of polyp-related information. Additionally, we have designed a feature interaction module (FIM) aimed at bridging the semantic gap between the two branches and facilitating the integration of diverse semantic information from both branches. This integration enables the full capture of global context information and local details related to polyps. To prevent the loss of edge detail information crucial for polyp identification, we have introduced a reverse attention boundary enhancement (RABE) module to gradually enhance edge structures and detailed information within polyp regions. Finally, we conducted extensive experiments on five publicly available datasets to evaluate the performance of our method in both polyp segmentation and classification tasks. The experimental results confirm that our proposed method outperforms other state-of-the-art methods. ©2024 the Author(s), licensee AIMS Press.

In addressing the challenges of limited semantic labeling data and imprecise segmentation regions prevalent in the semantic segmentation of ship flame images, this study introduces a semi-supervised semantic segmentation method tailored for ship flame images. This approach is grounded in the principles of pairwise similarity with strong-weak perturbations. Adopting a pseudo-label self-learning strategy, the method employs weak-strong perturbation pairwise similarity, ensuring the propagation of high-confidence predictions during label generation, and thereby enhancing performance. Additionally, to tackle the inherent difficulties presented by smoke enveloping and obscuring flame regions in ship images, we have conceived a Vertical Continuity Feature Enhancement module. This module empowers the model to discern more explicit inter-class boundaries. Empirical evaluations on our proprietary dataset substantiate the superiority of our method, registering an improvement of 4.12 percentage points in mIoU over other semi-supervised approaches. Such results attest to the efficacy of the proposed pairwise similarity approach and the Vertical Continuity Feature Enhancement module in flame semantic segmentation. © 2023 IEEE.

Image-To-Mesh Conversion for Biomedical Simulations

Converting a three-dimensional medical image into a 3D mesh that satisfies both the quality and fidelity constraints of predictive simulations and image-guided surgical procedures remains a critical problem. Presented is an image-to-mesh conversion method called CBC3D. It first discretizes a segmented image by generating an adaptive Body-Centered Cubic (BCC) mesh of high-quality elements. Next, the tetrahedral mesh is converted into a mixed-element mesh of tetrahedra, pentahedra, and hexahedra to decrease element count while maintaining quality. Finally, the mesh surfaces are deformed to their corresponding physical image boundaries, improving the mesh's fidelity. The deformation scheme builds upon the ITK open-source library and is based on the concept of energy minimization, relying on a multi-material point-based registration. It uses non-connectivity patterns to implicitly control the number of extracted feature points needed for the registration and, thus, adjusts the trade-off between the achieved mesh fidelity and the deformation speed. We compare CBC3D with four widely used and state-of-the-art homegrown image-to-mesh conversion methods from industry and academia. Results indicate that the CBC3D meshes (i) achieve high fidelity, (ii) keep the element count reasonably low, and (iii) exhibit good element quality. © 2024, CC BY.

Topic shift detection aims to identify whether there is a change in the current topic of conversation or if a change is needed. The study found previous work did not evaluate the performance of large language models like ChatGPT on the task of topic shift. Therefore, this paper's main task and innovation lie in analyzing ChatGPT's performance on topic shift detection. To provide a more comprehensive evaluation, we conducted topic shift detection tasks on ChatGPT from three aspects: single utterances, adjacent utterances, and contextual levels. Additionally, to gauge the performance of large language models, we conducted experiments on multiple small-scale models and compared the results of the two models. Experimental results on the publicly available English TIAGE dataset showed that small-scale models exhibited lower recall in all three aspects, while ChatGPT performed better in the recall. This suggests that compared to small-scale models, large models are more capable of accurately detecting topic shifts. However, large models also exhibited lower precision, indicating that while ChatGPT can recognize content differences in utterances, its judgment on whether these different contents belong to the same topic is poor. © 2024 IEEE.
