Evaluating impact of remote-access cyber-attack on lane changes for connected automated vehicles

Connected automated vehicles(CAVs)rely heavily on intelligent algorithms and remote *** the control center or on-board sensors are under cyber-attack due to the security vulnerability of wireless communication,it can cause significant damage to CAVs or *** primary objective of this study is to model cyberattacked traffic flow and evaluate the impacts of cyber-attack on the traffic system filled with CAVs in a connected *** on the analysis on environmental perception system and possible cyber-attacks on sensors,a novel lane-changing model for CAVs is proposed and multiple traffic scenarios for cyber-attacks are *** impact of the proportion of cyber-attacked vehicles and the severity of the cyber-attack on the lanechanging process is then quantitatively *** evaluation indexes include spatio-temporal evolution of average speed,spatial distribution of selected lane-changing gaps,lane-changing rate distribution,lane-changing preparation search time,efficiency and ***,the numerical simulation results show that the freeway traffic near an off-ramp is more sensitive to the proportion of cyber-attacked vehicles than to the severity of the ***,when the traffic system is under cyber-attack,more unsafe back gaps are chosen for lane-changing,especially in the center ***,more lane-changing maneuvers are concentrated on approaching the off-ramp,causing severe congestions and potential rear-end *** addition,as the number of cyber-attacked vehicles and the severity of cyber-attacks increase,the road capacity and safety level will rapidly *** results of this study can provide a theoretical basis for accident avoidance and efficiency improvement for the design of CAVs and management of automated highway systems.

Runoff forecasting plays a crucial role in water resource management and flood mitigation, but it often faces significant challenges due to data deficiency and decentralized datasets. Inadequate hydrological data in many watersheds hinders the development of accurate prediction models, while organizational barriers and concerns about data privacy lead to information silos, preventing effective collaborative modeling. To address these issues, we propose FedHydroDSW, a novel personalized federated learning framework for runoff forecasting in data-scarce watersheds. Our approach enables decentralized model training across multiple organizations without requiring direct data sharing, thus preserving data privacy. FedHydroDSW incorporates unique model similarity metrics and parameter adaptation methods, utilizing insights from data-rich areas to refine forecasts in data-scarce regions. Experiments on the CAMELS dataset show that FedHydroDSW significantly outperforms standalone and conventional federated learning methods, with an average 30.1% increase in NSE, and reductions of 28% in RAE and 26.6% in RMSE across multiple data-scarce basins. By enabling secure cross-silo learning, our FedHydroDSW strategy paves the way toward more equitable runoff forecasting globally. The customized training and pattern recognition techniques represent major progress in deploying federated intelligence for impactful hydrological predictions. The Instruction-Driven Game Engine (IDGE) project aims to democratize game development by enabling a large language model (LLM) to follow free-form game descriptions and generate game-play processes. The IDGE allows users to create games simply by natural language instructions, which significantly lowers the barrier for game development. We approach the learning process for IDGEs as a Next State Prediction task, wherein the model autoregressively predicts the game states given player actions. The computation of game states must be precise;otherwise, slight errors could corrupt the game-play experience. This is challenging because of the gap between stability and diversity. To address this, we train the IDGE in a curriculum manner that progressively increases its exposure to complex scenarios. Our initial progress lies in developing an IDGE for Poker, which not only supports a wide range of poker variants but also allows for highly individualized new poker games through natural language inputs. This work lays the groundwork for future advancements in transforming how games are created and played. © 2024 Association for Computational Linguistics.

The Triticum-Aegilops complex provides ideal models for the study of polyploidization,and mitochondrial genomes(mtDNA)can be used to trace cytoplasmic inheritance and energy production following *** this study,gapless mitochondrial genomes for 19 accessions of five Triticum or Aegilops species were *** genomics confirmed that the BB-genome progenitor donated mtDNA to tetraploid ***(genome formula AABB),and that this mtDNA was then passed on to the hexaploid ***(AABBDD).T urartu(AA)was the paternal parent of ***(AAGG),and an earlier ***(DD)was the maternal parent of ***(CCDD).Genic sequences were highly conserved within species,but frequent rearrangements and nuclear or chloroplast DNA insertions occurred during *** highly variable mitochondrial genes(atp6,cob,nad6,and nad9)were established as marker genes for Triticum and Aegilops species *** BB/GG-specific atp6 and cob genes,which were imported from the nuclear genome,could facilitate identification of their diploid *** haplotypes and repeat-sequence patterns indicated that BB was much closer to GG than to ***(SS).These findings provide novel insights into the polyploid evolution of the Triticum/Aegilops complex from the perspective of mtDNA,advancing understanding of energy supply and adaptation in wheat species。

Solving Multiobjective Combinatorial Optimization via Learning to Improve Method

Recently, neural combinatorial optimization (NCO) methods have been prevailing for solving multiobjective combinatorial optimization problems (MOCOPs). Most NCO methods are based on the "Learning to Construct"(L2C) paradigm, where the trained model(s) can directly generate a set of approximate Pareto optimal solutions. However, these methods still suffer from insufficient proximity and poor diversity towards the true Pareto front. In this paper, following the "Learning to Improve"(L2I) paradigm, we propose weight-related policy network (WRPN), a learning-based improvement method for solving MOCOPs. WRPN is incorporated into multiobjective evolutionary algorithm (MOEA) frameworks to effectively guide the search direction. A shared baseline for proximal policy optimization is presented to reduce variance in model training. A quality enhancement mechanism is designed to further refine the Pareto set during model inference. Computational experiments conducted on two classic MOCOPs, i.e., multiobjective traveling salesman problem and multiobjective vehicle routing problem, indicate that our method achieves remarkable results. Notably, our WRPN module can be easily integrated into various MOEA frameworks such as NSGA-II, MOEA/D and MOGLS, providing versatility and applicability across different problem domains. © 2025 IEEE.

Part-Of-Speech tagging is a basic task in the field of natural language processing. This paper builds a POS tagger based on improved Hidden Markov model, by employing word clustering and syntactic parsing model. Firstly, In order to overcome the defects of the classical HMM, Markov family model (MFM), a new statistical model was introduced. Secondly, to solve the problem of data sparseness, we propose a bottom-to-up hierarchical word clustering algorithm. Then we combine syntactic parsing with part-of-speech tagging. The Part-of-Speech tagging experiments show that the improved Part-Of-Speech tagging model has higher performance than Hidden Markov models (HMMs) under the same testing conditions, the precision is enhanced from 94.642% to 97.235%.

Many existing anomaly detection methods assume the availability of a large-scale normal dataset. But for many applications, limited by resources, removing all anomalous samples from a large unlabeled dataset is unrealistic, resulting in contaminated datasets. To detect anomalies accurately under such scenarios, from the probabilistic perspective, the key question becomes how to learn the normal-data distribution from a contaminated dataset. To this end, we propose to collect two additional small datasets that are comprised of partially-observed normal and anomaly samples, and then use them to help learn the distribution under an adversarial learning scheme. We prove that under some mild conditions, the proposed method is able to learn the correct normal-data distribution. Then, we consider the overfitting issue caused by the small size of the two additional datasets, and a correctness-guaranteed flipping mechanism is further developed to alleviate it. Theoretical results under incomplete observed anomaly types are also presented. Extensive experimental results demonstrate that our method outperforms representative baselines when detecting anomalies under contaminated datasets. Copyright 2024 by the author(s)

When solving the problems of data scarcity and cross-domain adaptability in bearing fault diagnosis, traditional methods often find it difficult to obtain a large amount of fault data, which limits the application and development of data-driven methods. Therefore, this paper proposes a novel domain adversarial fault diagnosis method driven by digital twins. First, by constructing a dynamic simulation model of bearing faults, the vibration signals of bearing faults are successfully simulated, thereby obtaining rich simulated fault data. Secondly, by using the SAE network and Wasserstein distance transfer strategy, the fault diagnosis knowledge is automatically learned from the simulated time domain signals, and this knowledge is successfully transfer to the diagnosis problems under different working conditions. Finally, by introducing the domain adversarial mechanism and gradient reversal layer (GRL), the transfer of target domain data features to source domain data features is realized. At the same time, the accurate classification of fault features and the adaptation of domain distribution are realized in the feature extraction process, which effectively solves the domain offset problem in cross-domain fault diagnosis. © 2024 IEEE.

Human pose estimation in videos has long been a compelling yet challenging task within the realm of computer vision. Nevertheless, this task remains difficult because of the complex video scenes, such as video defocus and self-occlusion. Recent methods strive to integrate multi-frame visual features generated by a backbone network for pose estimation. However, they often ignore the useful joint information encoded in the initial heatmap, which is a by-product of the backbone generation. Comparatively, methods that attempt to refine the initial heatmap fail to consider any spatio-temporal motion features. As a result, the performance of existing methods for pose estimation falls short due to the lack of ability to leverage both local joint (heatmap) information and global motion (feature) dynamics. To address this problem, we propose a novel joint-motion mutual learning framework for pose estimation, which effectively concentrates on both local joint dependency and global pixel-level motion dynamics. Specifically, we introduce a context-aware joint learner that adaptively leverages initial heatmaps and motion flow to retrieve robust local joint feature. Given that local joint feature and global motion flow are complementary, we further propose a progressive joint-motion mutual learning that synergistically exchanges information and interactively learns between joint feature and motion flow to improve the capability of the model. More importantly, to capture more diverse joint and motion cues, we theoretically analyze and propose an information orthogonality objective to avoid learning redundant information from multi-cues. Empirical experiments show our method outperforms prior arts on three challenging benchmarks. © 2024 ACM.
