Highly Robust and Diverse Coverless Image Steganography Against Passive and Active Steganalysis

To avoid the pixel modification traces left by steganography from being detected by passive steganalysis, and to prevent the hidden data from being destroyed by active steganalysis attacks, Coverless Image Steganography (CIS) that does not modify pixels has attracted widespread attention. However, most existing CIS methods are limited in their maximum capacity due to insufficient diversity in their hash sequences. In addition, these methods struggle to maintain high robustness against both geometric and non-geometric attacks simultaneously. To address these two issues, a new coverless image steganography method is proposed to enhance CIS methods’ applicability, security, and robustness in highly insecure networks. During the hiding process, hash sequences are generated by a SHA-256 algorithm that integrates inter-block and inter-channel fusion, providing higher diversity than other CIS methods. Consequently, the proposed CIS method achieves higher capacity on publicly available datasets. During the extraction process, an evaluation metric that combines visual and histogram similarity is designed to improve the accuracy of inverse image retrieval. The experimental results demonstrate that the proposed CIS method achieves capacity increases of 26.73% and 38.34% over other CIS methods on the VOC and COCO datasets, respectively. Moreover, this method exhibits nearly 100% robustness against common active steganalysis. © 2004-2012 IEEE.

Versatile manipulation of orbital angular momentum combs enabled by diffractive neural networks

The orbital angular momentum (OAM) of light, which can be created through the helical phase front, has attracted significant attention and found numerous applications in both classical and quantum optics. The manipulation of light’s OAM has evolved from the generation of a single OAM mode to the simultaneous generation of multiple OAM modes. As a typical kind of multiple OAM superposition mode, an OAM comb features a discrete, equispaced OAM spectrum. Similar to how optical frequency combs promoted many technical revolutions in optics, such an OAM comb may likewise pave the way for OAM-related applications. Here, we propose an approach to versatilely manipulating OAM combs based on a two-layer fully connected diffractive neural network (DNN). We achieve four kinds of manipulation and transformations on OAM combs, including four arithmetic operations, square and square root operations, high-pass/low-pass/band-pass filtering, and arbitrary transformation between two OAM combs, etc. All four kinds of manipulation reach an average accuracy of 99.65% and the lowest accuracy of over 99%. Modern agricultural machinery relies on high-accuracy navigation systems;however, the common loosely coupled (LC) solution of dual-antenna global navigation satellite system (GNSS) and micro-electromechanical system inertial navigation system (MEMS INS) often fails to meet accuracy requirements in complex environments. Theoretically, the tightly coupled (TC) solution of the dual-antenna baseline constraint and MEMS INS offers better attitude accuracy. However, its state space is incomplete, comprising only attitude, gyro biases, and ambiguity. Moreover, previous studies have not conducted a state observability analysis on this model, which is essential for understanding its state estimation capabilities. Therefore, we derived the TC model of dual-antenna baseline constraint and MEMS INS within a complete state space and performed an observability analysis. Based on these results and considering computational efficiency, we integrated this model into the GNSS/MEMS INS TC model using federated filtering. To further improve the algorithm’s accuracy in complex agricultural environments, an adaptive robust positioning algorithm is proposed based on turning state detection. The proposed algorithm was validated through three sets of experiments, demonstrating position accuracy within 2 cm in both open and slightly occluded environments, with heading accuracy within 0.6°, and maintaining optimal accuracy even in severely occluded environments. © 2001-2012 IEEE.

Stance detection, a natural language processing technique, captures user attitudes on controversial social media topics. However, the semantic ambiguity of social texts makes accurate stance determination challenging. Existing annotated data is often domain-specific, resulting in poor model generalization for unseen targets and cross-domain scenarios. To tackle this challenge, we introduce inference tasks related to stance detection as auxiliary tasks and use a multitask learning approach to improve the model's understanding of textual semantics. Meanwhile, to alleviate the scarcity of annotated data, we use argumentation corpus with abundant resources as the source domain to train the basic stance detection model. We integrate this model with a large-scale framework to facilitate weakly supervised learning for machine annotation of unlabeled social texts, thereby boosting the model's adaptability across different targets and domains. Experimental results on four Twitter datasets demonstrate that our method can significantly improve the model's stance discriminative ability and generalization performance. © 2025 IEEE.

In the field of heterogeneous federated learning (FL), the key challenge is to efficiently and collaboratively train models across multiple clients with different data distributions, model structures, task objectives, computational capabilities, and communication resources. This diversity leads to significant heterogeneity, which increases the complexity of model training. In this paper, we first outline the basic concepts of heterogeneous FL and summarize the research challenges in FL in terms of five aspects: data, model, task, device and communication. In addition, we explore how existing state-of-the-art approaches cope with the heterogeneity of FL, and categorize and review these approaches at three different levels: data-level, model-level, and architecture-level. Subsequently, the paper extensively discusses privacy-preserving strategies in heterogeneous FL environments. Finally, the paper discusses current open issues and directions for future research, aiming to promote the further development of heterogeneous FL. © 2015 IEEE.

The recognition of tea sprouts is the premise of realize the intelligence of the premium tea picking. DeepLabV3 +, as the latest semantic segmentation algorithm of DeepLab family, can well recognize the tea sprouts in images. However, the model still has the problem of large number of parameters, and there is still room for improvements in segmentation accuracy and speed. To solve the multi-label recognition and segmentation of background, single bud, one leaf and two leaves in the tea sprout images, an improved deep convolutional neural network algorithm is proposed. This method realizes the recognition of different postures of high-quality tea sprouts on the premise of efficiency and accuracy. The DMResNet18 model is used as the feature extraction network to lightweight the network model and increase the segmentation speed. The feature joint attention network is added to optimize the spatial weights and channel weights of the model, which improves the accuracy of segmentation. Additionally, the low-level feature fusion method is applied to obtain rich initial global information of features and improves the overall performance of the model. The results show that the segmentation accuracy of improved DeepLabV3 + model reaches 92.58%, which is improved by 4.26% compared with the original DeepLabV3 + model. The model size and the speed of detection are improved by 80.67% and 52.24%, respectively. Orthogonal Projection-Based Fault Detection for Linear Discrete-Time Varying Systems

This article is devoted to one-class fault detection in linear discrete-time varying (LDTV) systems with uncertainties. Specifically, following the Hilbert Projection theorem, the residual generation problem is solved by means of an orthogonal projection of process data onto system subspaces in Hilbert space. The resulted Pythagorean equation enables establishing an adaptive threshold driven by the residual signal and using gap metric as the similarity measure. In this projection-based fault detection framework, the design and implementation of the residual generators and threshold setting can be uniformly addressed, which provides a systematic solution to the detection issues in linear discrete-time varying systems. Moreover, a comparison with the observer- and differential-algebraic equations-based fault detection schemes is studied, which highlights the improved fault detection capability of the projection-based method. © 1963-2012 IEEE.

Spatiotemporal deformation analysis of glaciers and surrounding landscapes in the Shishapangma region using InSAR techniques

Glacier dynamics in the Himalayan midlatitudes,particularly in regions like the Shishapangma,are not yet fully understood,especially the localized topographic and climatic impacts on glacier *** study analyzes the spatiotemporal characteristics of glacier surface deformation in the Shishapangma region using the Small Baseline Subset(SBAS)Interferometric Synthetic Aperture Radar(In SAR)*** analysis reveals an average deformation rate of-4.02±17.65 mm/yr across the entire study area,with glacier regions exhibiting significantly higher rates of uplift(16.87±13.20 mm/yr)and subsidence(20.11±14.55 mm/yr)compared to non-glacier *** identifies significant surface lowering on the mountain flanks and localized uplift in certain catchments,emphasizing the higher deformation rates in glacial areas compared to non-glacial *** found a strong positive correlation between temperature and cumulative deformation(correlation coefficient of 0.63),particularly in glacier areas(0.82).The research highlights the role of temperature as the primary driver of glacier wastage,particularly at lower elevations,with strong correlations found between temperature and cumulative *** also indicates the complex interactions between topographic features,notably,slope gradient,which shows a positive correlation with subsidence rates,especially for slopes below 35°.South-,southwest-,and west-facing slopes exhibit significant uplift,while north-,northeast-,and east-facing slopes predominantly ***,we identified transition zones between debris-covered glaciers and clean ice as areas of most intense deformation,with average rates exceeding 30 mm/yr,highlighting these as potential high-risk zones for *** study comprehensively analyzes the deformation characteristics in both glacier and non-glacier areas in the Shishapangma region,revealing the complex interplay of topographic,climatic,and hydrological factors influencing glacier dynamic

In this paper,we investigate the application of the Unmanned Aerial Vehicle(UAV)-enabled relaying system in emergency communications,where one UAV is applied as a relay to help transmit information from ground users to a Base Station(BS).We maximize the total transmitted data from the users to the BS,by optimizing the user communication scheduling and association along with the power allocation and the trajectory of the *** solve this non-convex optimization problem,we propose the traditional Convex Optimization(CO)and the Reinforcement Learning(RL)-based ***,we apply the block coordinate descent and successive convex approximation techniques in the CO approach,while applying the soft actor-critic algorithm in the RL *** simulation results show that both approaches can solve the proposed optimization problem and obtain good ***,the RL approach establishes emergency communications more rapidly than the CO approach once the training process has been completed.

Retrieval-Augmented Fine-Tuning for Improving Retrieve-and-Edit Based Assertion Generation

Unit Testing is crucial in software development and maintenance, aiming to verify that the implemented functionality is consistent with the expected functionality. A unit test is composed of two parts: a test prefix, which drives the unit under test to a particular state, and a test assertion, which determines what the expected behavior is under that state. To reduce the effort of conducting unit tests manually, Yu et al. proposed an integrated approach (integration for short), combining information retrieval with a deep learning-based approach to generate assertions for test prefixes, and obtained promising results. In our previous work, we found that the overall performance of integration is mainly due to its success in retrieving assertions. Moreover, integration is limited to specific types of edit operations and struggles to understand the semantic differences between the retrieved focal-test (focal-test includes a test prefix and a unit under test) and the input focal-test. Based on these insights, we then proposed a retrieve-and-edit approach named EDITAS to learn the assertion edit patterns to improve the effectiveness of assertion generation in our prior study. Despite being promising, we find that the effectiveness of EDITAS can be further improved. Our analysis shows that: ① The editing ability of EDITAS still has ample room for improvement. Its performance degrades as the edit distance between the retrieval assertion and ground truth increases. Specifically, the average accuracy of EDITAS is 12.38% when the edit distance is greater than 5. ② EDITAS lacks a fine-grained semantic understanding of both the retrieved focal-test and the input focal-test themselves, which leads to many inaccurate token modifications. In particular, an average of 25.57% of the incorrectly generated assertions that need to be modified are not modified, and an average of 6.45% of the assertions that match the ground truth are still modified.
