Benefited from the increased satellite observations with medium spatial resolution, land use/cover mapping at local to global scales has provided important supports for society and academy community. For specific purposes (e.g., disaster assessment, detecting surface abrupt change), it is needed to increase the observation frequency, through combining different satellite sensors (i.e. as virtual constellation). However, many factors challenge this combination in practice, in which the comparability issue in sensor settings should be considered among various payload platforms. In this study, from the perspective of practical application, a comparative analysis of land use/cover mapping was investigated, with focusing on three observations by the Gaofen-1 (GF-1) wide field of view (WFV), Sentinel-2A Multi-Spectral Instrument (MSI), and Landsat-8 Operational Land Imager (OLI) respectively. Four methods were implemented in classification experiments. Preliminary results showed that the Sentinal-2A MSI outperformed the GF-1 WFV and the Landsat-8 OLI in classification, no matter which classifier was considered. Meanwhile, the higher spatial resolution of the GF-1 WFV certainly compensated its lack of spectral channels compared against the Landsat-8 OLI. The choice of methods affected classification for a specific observation, while the more suitable classifier varied among sensors. This study underlines the compatibility issue in land use/cover mapping with different observations. © 2024 Copyright held by the owner/author(s).

Mobile CrowdSensing (MCS) is a data sensing paradigm that recruits users carrying mobile terminals to collect data. As its variant, Sparse MCS has been further proposed for large-scale and fine-grained sensing task with the advantage of collecting only a few data to infer unsensed data. However, in many real-world scenarios, such as early prevention of epidemic, people are interested in not only the data at the current, but also in the future or even long-term future, and the latter may be more important. Long-term prediction not only reduces sensing cost, but also identifies trends or other characteristics of the data. In this paper, we propose a spatiotemporal model based on Transformer to infer and predict the data with sparse sensed data by utilizing spatiotemporal relationships. We design a spatiotemporal feature embedding to embed the prior spatiotemporal information of sensing map into the model to guide model learning. Moreover, we also design a novel multi-head spatiotemporal attention mechanism to dynamically capture spatiotemporal relationships among data. Extensive experiments have been conducted on three types of typical urban sensing tasks, which verify the effectiveness of our proposed algorithms in improving the inference and long-term prediction accuracy with the sparse sensed data. © 2023 IEEE.

Research on expressway traffic flow prediction model based on MSTA-GCN

The traffic flow prediction of expressway is highly nonlinear and complex, so it is technically and operationally difficult to predict it accurately. In order to predict the traffic flow of expressway and alleviate its traffic congestion, a multi-component spatial–temporal graph convolution network model based on attention mechanism (MSTA-GCN) is proposed, which combines GCN, standard CNN and attention mechanism. Firstly, near period, daily period and weekly period are modeled to capture the nonlinear correlation characteristics in multivariable urban spatial–temporal series. Then input the sample data into the integrated model for training and extract the characteristics of traffic flow data. Finally, the model is tested on California Expressway PeMS D7 dataset. The experimental results show that MSTA-GCN is superior to classical shallow learning model, benchmark deep learning model and other traffic flow deep learning models, and has lower prediction error. © 2022, The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer-Verlag GmbH Germany, part of Springer Nature.

Time series analysis has a wide range of applications in various domains. When addressing this task, tracking and identification are usually solved as two separate problems. However, it introduces a lot of computational redundancy and makes it difficult to guarantee synchronization and real-time performance. We propose a joint problem combining recognition and tracking and use particle filtering to solve the state estimation problem. However, the general particle filter cannot accurately estimate the state of the system in the time series state estimation task, because the system is time-varying and the prediction model of the particle filter is fixed. To address this issue, we assume that the system transition space is a set of finite prediction modes, and then propose a new Combined Particle Filter (CPF) framework that jointly achieves prediction mode recognition and state tracking. In the CPF, the prediction mode is regarded as a variable to be estimated, along with the system state variables. As a result, the resampled particle state set forms the global estimation of the system state, while the resampled mode variables indicate the optimal transition mode of the current frame. We construct an evaluation index system and conduct several evaluation tests to demonstrate the excellent performance of the CPF. Finally, we apply the CPF to the articulated human pose estimation task and obtain satisfactory results. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2024.

In the application of RRT (Rapidly-exploring Random Trees) algorithm in obstacle avoidance path planning of redundant robot arms in high-dimensional space, the sampling area of random sampling points is large, the search time is long, the path twists and turns, and the redundant points are too many. In this paper, an efficient sampling RRT algorithm with adaptive step size and fast automatic convergence is proposed. Firstly, by adding the optimized gravity function, the step size of the extended tree is changed adaptively and the convergence is stronger. Secondly, the limited sampling of parent node area expansion is proposed to avoid useless point sampling and repeated point sampling, so that the utilization of sampling points is greatly improved. Finally, by changing the way of parent node reconnection and re-selection, the path tortuous degree is lower, the path planning cost and redundancy points are reduced, and MATLAB software is used to carry out the path planning simulation experiment. By comparing RRT, gravitational field RTT and RRT∗ algorithm, the improved RRT algorithm has significantly improved in distance, time and number of nodes. It has important engineering application value. © 2023 IEEE.

Hybrid rice(Oryza sativa)generally outperforms its inbred parents in yield and stress tolerance,a phenomenon termed heterosis,but the underlying mechanism is not completely ***,we combined transcriptome,proteome,physiological,and heterosis analyses to examine the salt response of super hybrid rice Chaoyou1000(CY1000).In addition to surpassing the mean values for its two parents(mid-parent heterosis),CY1000 exhibited a higher reactive oxygen species scavenging ability than both its parents(over-parent heterosis or heterobeltiosis).Nonadditive expression and allele-specific gene expression assays showed that the glutathione S-transferase gene OsGSTU26 and the amino acid transporter gene OsAAT30 may have major roles in heterosis for salt tolerance,acting in an overdominant fashion in ***,we identified OsWRKY72 as a common transcription factor that binds and regulates OsGSTU26 and *** salt-sensitive phenotypes were associated with the OsWRKY72^(paternal)genotype or the OsAAT30^(maternal)genotype in core rice germplasm ***72^(paternal)specifically repressed the expression of OsGSTU26 under salt stress,leading to salinity sensitivity,while OsWRKY72^(maternal)specifically repressed OsAAT30,resulting in salinity *** results suggest that the OsWRKY72-OsAAT30/OsGSTU26 module may play an important role in heterosis for salt tolerance in an overdominant fashion in CY1000 hybrid rice,providing valuable clues to elucidate the mechanism of heterosis for salinity tolerance in hybrid rice.

Manifold learning is a widely adopted nonlinear dimensionality reduction technique employed to discover low-dimensional representations from high-dimensional data and to explore the intrinsic data structure. It encompasses a range of nonlinear techniques, including Isomap, Local Linear Embedding (LLE), Local Tangent Space Alignment (LTSA), and Multidimensional Scaling (MDS), among others. Isomap, as a popular method in manifold learning, has exhibited promising results. However, it encounters several challenges, such as the Topological Stability Problem, Shortest Path Distance, and noise sensitivity, which compromise its accuracy and elevate its computational demands. This survey paper presents three novel existing approaches to address these challenges and enhance the performance of Isomap. Firstly, the FastIsomap method, an existing approach that combines state-of-the-art algorithms like the KD tree and NN-descent to increase graph accuracy while reducing computational cost. Secondly, the FastIsomapVis method, also an existing technique, employs a hierarchical divide-and-conquer strategy employing the KD tree and Dijkstra Buckets Double, which enhances accuracy and reduces computational time in Isomap. Lastly, the NR-Isomap method, another existing approach, used the Local Tangent Space Alignment algorithm to remove noise sensitivity and short-circuit edge problems. The existing methods improve the accuracy of Isomap but also streamline its computational requirements. Furthermore, this survey paper discusses the open issues and future research directions for Isomap and manifold learning methods.
