Magic-sized CdSe nanoclusters for efficient visible-light-driven hydrogen evolution

Semiconductor magic-sized nanoclusters have got tremendous interests owing to their distinct chemical and photophysical properties,however,researches concerning their applications are still quite ***,we employ magic-sized CdSe nanoclusters as the light absorber for hydrogen photogeneration,which exhibits much better photocatalytic performance as compared to other conventional semiconductor quantum dots,such as CdS,CdSe,CdS/CdSe,and CdSe/CdS under identical *** lifetime and transient absorption studies indicated that the superior activity is mainly ascribed to the longer exciton lifetime and fast electron transfer from nanoclusters to ***,the issue of instability during reaction could be significantly inhibited by anchoring Zn2+onto the surface of nanoclusters,which gives the average efficacy of hydrogen evolution at 0.61±0.07 mL·h^(-1)·mgcatalyst^(-1),i.e.,27.3±2.9 mmol·h^(-1)·g_(catalyst)^(-1)(420 nm)with maintained 95.2%of original activity over 12 h illumination.

How to Mitigate Information Loss in knowledge Graphs for GraphRAG: Leveraging Triple Context Restoration and Query-Driven Feedback

knowledge Graph (KG)-augmented Large Language Models (LLMs) have recently propelled significant advances in complex reasoning tasks, thanks to their broad domain knowledge and contextual awareness. Unfortunately, current methods often assume KGs to be complete, which is impractical given the inherent limitations of KG construction and the potential loss of contextual cues when converting unstructured text into entity-relation triples. In response, this paper proposes the Triple Context Restoration and Query-driven Feedback (TCR-QF) framework, which reconstructs the textual context underlying each triple to mitigate information loss, while dynamically refining the KG structure by iteratively incorporating query-relevant missing knowledge. Experiments on five benchmark question-answering datasets substantiate the effectiveness of TCR-QF in KG and LLM integration, where it achieves a 29.1% improvement in Exact Match and a 15.5% improvement in F1 over its state-of-the-art GraphRAG competitors. © 2025, CC BY.

Aiming at the problem of disparity calculation in small occluded areas by using path aggregation to fuse adjacent pixel features in traditional semi-global stereo matching algorithms, a semi-global stereo matching algorithm by superpixel guided cost aggregation is proposed. The algorithm begins by fusing local feature information of the image with superpixel blocks during the first aggregation step, and then combines the path aggregation to complete the entire cost aggregation step. The disparity of 4 groups of classic Middlebury image pairs is calculated experimentally, and the average mismatch rate of all regions and non-occluded regions is 4.69%, more than 0.36% higher than the comparison algorithm, and the mismatch rate of non-occlusion regions is 3.13%, more than 1.12% higher than the comparison algorithm. Experiments show that the proposed algorithm can effectively optimize the disparity of partially occluded pixels and improve the effect of non-occluded areas. © 2023 ACM.

Semi-supervised learning (SSL) is a successful paradigm that can use unlabelled data to alleviate the labelling cost problem in supervised learning. However, the excellent performance brought by SSL does not transfer well to the task of class imbalance. The reason is that the class bias of pseudo-labelling further misleads the decision boundary. To solve this problem, we propose a new plug-and-play approach to handle the class imbalance problem based on a theoretical extension and analysis of distribution alignment. The method, called Basis Transformation Based Distribution Alignment (BTDA), efficiently aligns class distributions while taking into account inter-class *** implements the basis transformation through a learnable transfer matrix, thereby reducing the performance loss caused by pseudo-labelling biases. Extensive experiments show that our proposed BTDA approach can significantly improve performance in class imbalance tasks in terms of both accuracy and recall metrics when integrated with advanced SSL algorithms. Although the idea of BTDA is not complex, it can show advanced performance on datasets such as CIFAR and SVHN. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2024.

After the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, online teaching has gradually emerged as an indispensable component of education. Despite its convenience, online education lacks the immediate interactive experience inherent in traditional classrooms. This paper presents a meticulously designed DS-YOLOv8 network model, specifically tailored for real-time recognition of students raising their hands under cameras. On our proprietary dataset, this network model exhibits exceptional accuracy in hand-raising detection, showcasing a 1.3% improvement in the AP50 index compared to the baseline YOLOv8 model. Our focus lies on the application of hand-raising detection within online classrooms with an objective to provide enhanced support for teachers by promptly identifying students raising their hands and thereby improving teaching efficiency while enriching the interactive experience of students in virtual learning environments. © 2023 IEEE.

Deep learning has strongly promoted the research progress of unimodal feature learning such as face recognition and speech recognition, but it still needs to be strengthened in multimodal data representation learning, especially the problem of high power consumption, which is not conducive to the real-time application of mobile devices under limited resources. In order to realize multimodal identity recognition for low-energy edge smart devices, this paper proposes a multimodal identity recognition method of spiking neural network based on brain-like mechanism (SNN-MIR-BiM). Simulating the attention mechanism of the cognitive system to specific information improves the response of multimodal features, mimics the regulation mechanism of the neurotransmitter dopamine in the nervous system, and releases reward signals from the recognition results, which affects the neuronal state and regulates the synaptic weights through global propagation, and then optimizes the network structure. Experimental results on large-scale audio and video datasets show that the proposed method can reach 98.94% recognition accuracy, and the energy consumption of the model is about 1/10 of that of CNN under the same architecture, which verifies the effectiveness of the attention mechanism and reward propagation in network design. This research is of great practical significance in the industry applications of unmanned autonomous systems such as human-computer interaction of intelligent machines and intelligent security. © 2024 IEEE.

Topic shift detection aims to identify whether there is a change in the current topic of conversation or if a change is needed. The study found previous work did not evaluate the performance of large language models like ChatGPT on the task of topic shift. Therefore, this paper's main task and innovation lie in analyzing ChatGPT's performance on topic shift detection. To provide a more comprehensive evaluation, we conducted topic shift detection tasks on ChatGPT from three aspects: single utterances, adjacent utterances, and contextual levels. Additionally, to gauge the performance of large language models, we conducted experiments on multiple small-scale models and compared the results of the two models. Experimental results on the publicly available English TIAGE dataset showed that small-scale models exhibited lower recall in all three aspects, while ChatGPT performed better in the recall. This suggests that compared to small-scale models, large models are more capable of accurately detecting topic shifts. However, large models also exhibited lower precision, indicating that while ChatGPT can recognize content differences in utterances, its judgment on whether these different contents belong to the same topic is poor. © 2024 IEEE.

Image captioning is a vision-language task that targets at describing an image by generating a coherent sentence automatically. This technology allows computers to understand and describe images like humans, enabling further processing of images. It combines computer vision and natural language processing, which has broad applications. This paper investigates the use of vision-language pre-trained models for image captioning. In this article, an encoder-decoder hybrid model based on PVT and BERT is pre-trained on a large number of image-text pairs, possessing both understanding and generation capabilities. It consists of three components: 1) an image encoder and a text encoder to extract image and text features respectively;2) a multi-modal encoder to align the two modalities;and 3) a text decoder to generate text descriptions. This paper focuses on enhancing the image encoder of the model, which is crucial for image captioning models as it extracts high-resolution image features. Reducing training time and computational costs can also improve the applicability of pre-trained models. Improvements are made to the original model by modifying the ViT model architecture of the image encoding module. A feature pyramid structure and a spatial reduction attention mechanism is introduced to extract high-resolution image features while reducing computational complexity and memory usage, thereby enhancing the universality of the model. The model adopts a pure Transformer architecture, discarding the convolutional structure, and achieves excellent performance. © 2023 IEEE.

With the development of information technology,malware threats to the industrial system have become an emergent issue,since various industrial infrastructures have been deeply integrated into our modern works and *** identify and classify new malware variants,different types of deep learning models have been widely explored ***,sufficient data is usually required to achieve a well-trained deep learning classifier with satisfactory generalization ***,in current practical applications,an ample supply of data is absent in most specific industrial malware detection *** learning as an effective approach can be used to alleviate the influence of the small sample size *** addition,it can also reuse the knowledge from pretrained models,which is beneficial to the real-time requirement in industrial malware *** this paper,we investigate the transferable features learned by a 1D-convolutional network and evaluate our proposed methods on 6 transfer learning *** experiment results show that 1D-convolutional architecture is effective to learn transferable features for malware classification,and indicate that transferring the first 2 layers of our proposed 1D-convolutional network is the most efficient way to reuse the learned features.
