Hierarchical networks are frequently encountered in animal groups,gene networks,and artificial engineering systems such as multiple robots,unmanned vehicle systems,smart grids,wind farm networks,and so *** structure of a large directed hierarchical network is often strongly influenced by reverse edges from lower-to higher-level nodes,such as lagging birds’howl in a flock or the opinions of lowerlevel individuals feeding back to higher-level ones in a social *** study reveals that,for most large-scale real hierarchical networks,the majority of the reverse edges do not affect the synchronization process of the entire network;the synchronization process is influenced only by a small part of these reverse edges along specific *** surprisingly,a single effective reverse edge can slow down the synchronization of a huge hierarchical network by over 60%.The effect of such edges depends not on the network size but only on the average in-degree of the involved *** overwhelming majority of active reverse edges turn out to have some kind of“bunching”effect on the information flows of hierarchical networks,which slows down synchronization *** finding refines the current understanding of the role of reverse edges in many natural,social,and engineering hierarchical networks,which might be beneficial for precisely tuning the synchronization rhythms of these *** study also proposes an effective way to attack a hierarchical network by adding a malicious reverse edge to it and provides some guidance for protecting a network by screening out the specific small proportion of vulnerable nodes.

Calibration of simulation system is an important step to establish a reliable simulation system. In this paper, based on the existing mean field calibration theory, a new fast calibration method for complex urban traffic system based on mean field method is discussed by establishing the relationship between the macroscopic observation quantity and the proxy microscopic parameters. This method makes use of the machine learning method, and reduces the dimension of the state vector in the discrete time period, so that the dimension of the macroscopic state transition matrix is lower, and then reduces the computational complexity of the system calibration. Finally, the calibration results of the simulation system were verified by SUMO traffic simulation software. © 2021 IEEE.

An SNR-Adaptive Relaying Algorithm for Multi-Antenna Cooperative Networks

Multiple-input multiple-output(MIMO) and cooperative communications have been attracted great attention for the improvements of communication capacity, power consumption, and transmission coverage. The conventional fixed relaying protocols, amplify-and-forward(AF) and decode-and-forward(DF), have their own advantages and disadvantages, i.e. AF performs better than DF for low signal-to-noise ratio(SNR) region, while the reverse is true for high SNR region. Therefore, this paper proposes an SNR-adaptive forward(SAF) relaying scheme obtaining the advantages of both AF and DF. Furthermore, the proposed SAF does not need to switch between AF and DF when SNR changes. The main idea is to adaptively derive the soft information at the cooperative relay nodes based on the information of the received signal and the SNR. Besides, based on the theoretical analysis and the simulation results, it is affirmed that the proposed SAF achieves superior performance than both AF and DF for all SNRs. Moreover, the performance gain would be improved with the increasing number of parallel cooperative relay nodes.

The increasing attention on deep learning has tremendously spurred the design of intelligence processing hardware. The variety of emerging intelligence processors requires standard benchmarks for fair comparison and system optimization （in both software and hardware）. However, existing benchmarks are unsuitable for benchmarking intelligence processors due to their non-diversity and nonrepresentativeness. Also, the lack of a standard benchmarking methodology further exacerbates this problem. In this paper, we propose BENCHIP, a benchmark suite and benchmarking methodology for intelligence processors. The benchmark suite in BENCHIP consists of two sets of benchmarks： microbenchmarks and macrobenchmarks. The microbenchmarks consist of single-layer networks, They are mainly designed for bottleneck analysis and system optimization. The macrobenchmarks contain state-of-the-art industrial networks, so as to offer a realistic comparison of different platforms. We also propose a standard benchmarking methodology built upon an industrial software stack and evaluation metrics that comprehensively reflect various characteristics of the evaluated intelligence processors, BENCHIP is utilized for evaluating various hardware platforms, including CPUs, GPUs, and accelerators. BENCHIP will be open-sourced soon.

Due to the scarcity of point cloud datasets in a specific domain, utilizing generative model approaches becomes essential for data augmentation. Diffusion models have demonstrated impressive capabilities in data generation through a guided reverse process. In this work, we employ a reverse process of a Markov chain conditioned on shape latent to progressively generate dental crown point cloud from a noise distribution. We propose to map the global shape latent to a set of part-level implicit representations and introduce a cross-attention block to provide geometric structural information for point cloud generation. We conduct a series of experiments on a real dental crown dataset, and the experimental results show certain improvement compared to the baselines, demonstrating the efficacy of our approach. In experiments, we present the capability of our method to generate large-scale dental crown models through unsupervised learning, effectively enriching the existing dental crown dataset. © 2024 SPIE.

A study is conducted on the LH5T-13.5M electric crane, focusing on the swing characteristics of the load during steel coil lifting operations and the displacement issue of the crane. Initially, the system model is formulated using the Lagrange dynamic equations, translating the practical challenges into a solvable mathematical framework and deriving the transfer function of interest. Subsequently, the development of three control strategies is elucidated, formulated on the basis of the established model: a conventional PID control system, a fuzzy PID control system, and an adaptive proportional factor fuzzy neural PID controller. These systems are simulated and validated using Simulink. A comparative experimental setup is employed to evaluate performance. The results show that when the step input signal is 1, the maximum absolute load swing Angle of the traditional PID, fuzzy PID and adaptive scale factor fuzzy neural PID controller are 0.185°, 0.054° and 0.049° respectively for the working condition 1 experiment. The percentage overshoot corresponding to the wheelbarrow is 37.1%, 40.0%, and 30.5%, respectively. The findings indicate that the introduced fuzzy neural PID controller, equipped with an adaptive scaling factor, exhibits superior stability and effectiveness in maintaining the crane’s operation within the optimal range of parameters. © 2024 IEEE.

3D models are a new kind of cross-media resource which can be frequently seen in the network. Since the amount of them is very huge now, content-based retrieval can help to recognize a certain object or retrieve similar ones from the giant database. This paper presents a new method for deriving 3D moment invariants and uses them as shape descriptors for the representation of 3D models. They are insensitive to surface noise and can be used in pervasive environment conveniently. We also illustrate how to build up experimental system and simulate 3D shape retrieval in wireless environment

Agent actions planning is a challenging problem in multi-agent reinforcement learning. Recent methods typically build their predictive models by full connection layers, but the shortage of utilizing action and observation information in complex multi-agent environment limits the performance of those methods. To address this issue, we propose a novel predictive model based on self-attention mechanism which can effectively use information in the environment. Specifically, we use the MADDPG algorithm to make a dataset where the input is the observations and actions and the output is the predicted observations and rewards. We also introduce the multi-head attention mechanism into the predictive model so that the predictive model can better combine different information for prediction. We perform extensive experiments to assess the proposed method and compare it with the representative baseline approach. Results demonstrate that our method outperforms competitors with higher accuracy in different tasks. Our implementation will be publicly available. © 2022 IEEE.

With the development of industrialized building and intelligence technology, it becomes necessary and possible to realize building process intelligence management. In recent years, digital twins and parallel management get more and more attentions in academic research and industrial applications. This paper addresses how parallel building system performs intelligence management on industrialized building process. Firstly, actual building model and artificial building model are created according to actual building system. Then business driving engine and simulation engine drive actual building model and artificial building model, respectively. Participants receive and send messages by software interfaces. Business driving engine changes the status of actual building model and sends the changes to simulation engine. Simulation engine updates the status of artificial building model and runs artificial building model with various parameters. Then it sends the parameter with the best effect to business driving engine. Business driving engine sends recommendations to participants according to the best parameter. Thus, building process intelligence management is achieved. © 2021 IEEE
