Modern large-scale cloud platforms require live migration technique on Docker containers with stateful workload to support load balancing, host maintenance, and Quality of Service (QoS) improvement. Efficient and scalable Docker live migration is expected to guarantee the component-integrity (image, runtime, and management context) with negligible downtime. In this paper, we present a highly efficient live migration system called Sledge, which ensures the component-integrity by integrating both images and management context during runtime migration. The key insight is that the layered image can be leveraged to reduce the migration overhead, and appropriately selective migration of management context will effectively improve QoS with negligible downtime. To achieve good scalability, a lightweight container registry mechanism for end-to-end image migration is designed to avoid the redundant layers transmission. In addition, a dynamic context loading scheme is proposed to precisely load the management context into the running daemon, which can significantly reduce downtime. Experiments show that, compared with the state-of-the-art, Sledge reduces 57% of total migration time, 55% of image migration time, and 70% downtime.

Regarding human-machine collaborative task, generated trajectories of a robot manipulator should be able to avoid joint limits and singularities, but the 6 Degrees of Freedom(DoF) or lower DoF manipulators encounter difficulties in many schemes. In this paper, research is implemented on the methods of trajectory planning and motion control on the newly human-machine collaborative 7-DoF Sawyer manipulator. We try to pay more attention to these approaches and find a better combination between trajectory planners and motion controllers for Sawyer manipulator. First of all, comparison is proposed between the methods about trajectory planning in task space and joint space, drawing a conclusion that the latter has the advantage of quickness and smoothness on trajectories in real time. Next, we choose to plan trajectory in the joint space by interpolating positions and orientations. Three approaches, i.e., trapezoidal velocity trajectory, cubic polynomial trajectory and basic spline trajectory, are applied to interpolate positions. Experimental results show that it results in the smoothest trajectory using basic spline trajectory planning. We also compare linear and nonlinear orientation interpolations to address the angle wrapping issue, which leads to difficulties in smooth orientation interpolation between several waypoints. Combining polynomial trajectory planning methods with the proportional-derivative (PD) motion controller and the computed-torque motion controller, we focus on the performance of the two different combinations. It is found that trajectories with computed-torque controller have shorter path with a congruous convergence on joint position, and more accurate trajectories with less overshoots in position than others.

Background: Decades of steady improvements in life expectancy in Europe slowed down from around 2011, well before the COVID-19 pandemic, for reasons which remain disputed. We aimed to assess how changes in risk factors and cause-specific death rates in different European countries related to changes in life expectancy in those countries before and during the COVID-19 pandemic. Methods: We used data and methods from the Global Burden of Diseases, Injuries, and Risk Factors Study 2021 to compare changes in life expectancy at birth, causes of death, and population exposure to risk factors in 16 European Economic Area countries (Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Spain, and Sweden) and the four UK nations (England, Northern Ireland, Scotland, and Wales) for three time periods: 1990–2011, 2011–19, and 2019–21. Changes in life expectancy and causes of death were estimated with an established life expectancy cause-specific decomposition method, and compared with summary exposure values of risk factors for the major causes of death influencing life expectancy. Findings: All countries showed mean annual improvements in life expectancy in both 1990–2011 (overall mean 0·23 years [95% uncertainty interval [UI] 0·23 to 0·24]) and 2011–19 (overall mean 0·15 years [0·13 to 0·16]). The rate of improvement was lower in 2011–19 than in 1990–2011 in all countries except for Norway, where the mean annual increase in life expectancy rose from 0·21 years (95% UI 0·20 to 0·22) in 1990–2011 to 0·23 years (0·21 to 0·26) in 2011–19 (difference of 0·03 years). In other countries, the difference in mean annual improvement between these periods ranged from –0·01 years in Iceland (0·19 years [95% UI 0·16 to 0·21] vs 0·18 years [0·09 to 0·26]), to –0·18 years in England (0·25 years [0·24 to 0·25] vs 0·07 years [0·06 to 0·08]). The creation of a metric-semantic map, which encodes human-prior knowledge, represents a high-level abstraction of environments. However, constructing such a map poses challenges related to the fusion of multi-modal sensor data, the attainment of real-time mapping performance, and the preservation of structural and semantic information consistency. In this paper, we introduce an online metric-semantic mapping system that utilizes LiDAR-Visual-Inertial sensing to generate a global metric-semantic mesh map of large-scale outdoor environments. Leveraging GPU acceleration, our mapping process achieves exceptional speed, with frame processing taking less than 7ms, regardless of scenario scale. Furthermore, we seamlessly integrate the resultant map into a real-world navigation system, enabling metric-semantic-based terrain assessment and autonomous point-to-point navigation within a campus environment. Through extensive experiments conducted on both publicly available and self-collected datasets comprising 24 sequences, we demonstrate the effectiveness of our mapping and navigation methodologies. Note to Practitioners—This paper tackles the challenge of autonomous navigation for mobile robots in complex, unstructured environments with rich semantic elements. Traditional navigation relies on geometric analysis and manual annotations, struggling to differentiate similar structures like roads and sidewalks. We propose an online mapping system that creates a global metric-semantic mesh map for large-scale outdoor environments, utilizing GPU acceleration for speed and overcoming the limitations of existing real-time semantic mapping methods, which are generally confined to indoor settings. The precise segmentation and tracking of cells in microscopy image sequences play a pivotal role in biomedical research, facilitating the study of tissue, organ, and organism development. However, manual segmentation and tracking of cells is time-consuming and often require professional experiences. Besides, segmenting cells in the images with a low signal-to-noise ratio remains difficult. While deep learning (DL) has become a common method for cell segmentation, few DL- based methods address concurrent cell segmentation and tracking. In this paper, we propose a novel DL approach featuring graph-based tracking for cell segmentation and tracking in microscopy images. We combine Deeplabv3+ for semantic segmentation and ResNet50 for enhanced feature extraction, enabling comprehensive cell detection and instance segmentation. Post-processing, involving non-maxima suppression and outlier detection, refines predictions and produces final segmentation. The tracking method is based on the relative position of graph nodes to track segmented cells, encompassing cell division and apoptosis. We conduct our experiments on the induced pluripotent stem (iPS) cell datasets, and the results show that the segmentation and tracking performance of our method yields superior performance compared to the benchmark models. More specifically, our approach achieved DET values of 0.955 and 0.913, TRA values of 0.951 and 0.906, and SEG values of 0.690 and 0.665 on two iPS dataset videos, respectively. Additionally, the performance assessment encompasses four real microscopy datasets from the Cell Tracking Challenge (CTC). Our method greatly reduces the cost of manual labeling and labor-intensive costs.

Face parsing is an important computer vision task that requires accurate pixel segmentation of facial parts (such as eyes, nose, mouth, etc.), providing a basis for further face analysis, modification, and other applications. In this paper, we introduce a simple, end-to-end face parsing framework: STN-aided iCNN (STN-iCNN), which extends interlinked Convolutional Neural Network (iCNN) by adding a Spatial Transformer Network (STN) between the two isolated stages. The STN-iCNN uses the STN to provide a trainable connection to the original two-stage iCNN pipeline, making end-to-end joint training possible. Moreover, as a by-product, STN also provides more precise cropped parts than the original cropper. Due to the two advantages, our approach significantly improves the accuracy of the original model. In recent years, the rapid development of network and E-commerce technologies, promotes the development of human body big data. New technologies, such as 3D scanning and 3D printing will improve our life quality. The new socialized manufacturing network composed of IoT, advanced logistics network and 3D printers. Everyone is allowed to have chance to participate in any process of the whole production manufacturing lifecycle by some ways, such as crowdsourcing. Boosts the creation, production and consumption patterns of individuation, real-time transformation and E-commerce, possibly will lead to a new industrial revolution. In this revolutionary change wave, public concerns focus on the human body big data used for social manufacturing of wearable products or personalized medical treatment. Although many scholars have done a lot of research work, the collection of the human body shape big data still faces many challenges. There is no complete, separated theoretical research works in progress, it should be summarized and improved systematically. In this paper, we review that big data for human body shape is gaining momentum. The 3D scanning and 3D modeling of human body shape are summarized and concluded. The main applications of these big data are analyzed.

Considering the tumor aggressive nature and the significant changes in anatomical structure, aligning the preoperative and follow up scans of glioma patients remains a challenge due to the presence of regions with absent correspondence. To address this challenge, this work proposed a novel bidirectional unsupervised deformable image registration framework for image pairs with missing correspondence based on an auxiliary-image-aided intensity-consistency constraint (ICC) strategy. Specifically, for any fixed and moving image pairs, we introduced an auxiliary image and warped it directly to fixed/moving image or warped it twice through a transition of moving/fixed image. By comparing the difference between these warped images, the weighting maps to identify and exclude regions with absent correspondence between fixed and moving image pairs can be generated. To verify the effectiveness of the proposed framework, we combined it with several deep learning-based registration models and tested it on BraTS-Reg challenge dataset, the results demonstrated that the proposed ICC strategy can improve the registration performance for all the models, with the improvement of average target registration error (TRE) and success rate (SR) being up to 44.9% and 66.7%, respectively. Comparing against the best existing forward-backward consistency strategy for dealing with missing correspondence registration, our auxiliary-image-aided ICC strategy can also decrease average TRE by 2.9%, demonstrating the superiority of the proposed framework. The present work is not limited to the glioma images, it can be used to address the registration problems for any image pairs with absent correspondence or inconsistent intensity.

Accurately predicting the grade of gliomas is crucial for choosing right treatment plans. While current methods using radiomics and deep learning can predict glioma grades effectively using magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), they overlook dynamic changes in the tumor and its neighboring areas. To address this issue, we propose a tumor state-space network (TSSNet), which fully exploits changes in the tumor region and its surroundings through dynamical updating strategy. The experimental results demonstrated that TSSNet achieves 90.32% accuracy and 93.55% area under the curve (AUC) for the prediction of high-grade and low-grade gliomas, respectively, which are 2.4% and 2.5% higher than the best state-of-the-art deep learning models. Moreover, the proposed state-space module can effectively enhance prediction performance, which is advantageous for personalized glioma treatment.

Subspace clustering is a classical technique that has been widely used for human motion segmentation and other related tasks. However, existing segmentation methods often cluster data without guidance from prior knowledge, resulting in unsatisfactory segmentation results. To this end, we propose a novel Consistency and Diversity induced human Motion Segmentation (CDMS) algorithm. Specifically, our model factorizes the source and target data into distinct multi-layer feature spaces, in which transfer subspace learning is conducted on different layers to capture multi-level information. A multi-mutual consistency learning strategy is carried out to reduce the domain gap between the source and target data. In this way, the domain-specific knowledge and domain-invariant properties can be explored simultaneously. Besides, a novel constraint based on the Hilbert Schmidt Independence Criterion (HSIC) is introduced to ensure the diversity of multi-level subspace representations, which enables the complementarity of multi-level representations to be explored to boost the transfer learning performance. Moreover, to preserve the temporal correlations, an enhanced graph regularizer is imposed on the learned representation coefficients and the multi-level representations of the source data. The proposed model can be efficiently solved using the Alternating Direction Method of Multipliers (ADMM) algorithm. Extensive experimental results on public human motion datasets demonstrate the effectiveness of our method against several state-of-the-art approaches. Copyright © 2022, The Authors.
