This paper proposes an automatic scheme to extract Chinese abbreviations and their corresponding definitions from large-scale anchor texts. This method is motivated by the observation that the more frequently two anchor texts point to the same web page, the more related they are. Since abbreviation-definition pairs are highly related, they can be extracted from these related words. Our method involves three steps. Firstly we utilize external statistical features to extract candidate abbreviation-definition pairs from anchor texts. Secondly we extract internal features from candidate pairs and adopt Conditional Random Fields (CRFs) to compute a score for each candidate pair. Finally we combine external and internal features to generate the final pairs. Experimental results show that this method can accurately extract Chinese abbreviation-definition pairs from anchor texts and combining both external and internal features is effective for extracting abbreviation-definition pairs.

In this paper, we focus on object feature based review summarization. Different from most of previous work with linguistic rules or statistical methods, we formulate the review mining task as a joint structure tagging problem. We propose a new machine learning framework based on Conditional Random Fields (CRFs). It can employ rich features to jointly extract positive opinions, negative opinions and object features for review sentences. The linguistic structure can be naturally integrated into model representation. Besides linear- chain structure, we also investigate conjunction structure and syntactic tree structure in this framework. Through extensive experiments on movie review and product review data sets, we show that structure-aware models outperform many state-of-the-art approaches to review mining.

The zero-error classical capacity of a quantum channel is the asymptotic rate at which it can be used to send classical bits perfectly, so that they can be decoded with zero probability of error. The study of zero-error capacities dates right back to Shannon and the early days of information theory. We show that there exist pairs of quantum channels, neither of which individually have any zero-error capacity whatsoever (even if arbitrarily many uses of the channels are available), but such that access to even a single copy of both channels allows classical information to be sent perfectly reliably. In other words, we prove that the zero-error classical capacity can be superactivated. This result is the first example of superactivation of a classical capacity of a quantum channel. We further strengthen this result to show that there exist pairs of channels, neither of which have any zero-error classical capacity (as before), yet for which access to one copy of the joint channel even allows far more delicate quantum information to be transmitted perfectly. This subsumes the first result, and also implies that the quantum zero-error capacity can be superactivated. But it is strictly stronger than either of these. Indeed, this is the strongest conceivable form of superactivation, and nothing similar is possible for standard Shannon capacities of quantum channels or for zero-error capacities of classical channels.

The network file system (NFS) protocol, as the de facto standard for sharing files in a distributed environment, has deployed Infiniband as the underlying transport of sunRPC, namely NFS over RDMA. In the current Read-Write design of NFS over RDMA, NFS write performance is limited for not fully utilizing the features of Infiniband. In this paper, we take on the challenge of enhancing the write performance of NFS. We propose and evaluate a new design of sunRPC over RDMA, namely Write-Write design. To guarantee the security of our design, we propose an HCA-based memory protection extension of Infiniband. Evaluations show that our Write-Write design increases the kernel-to-kernel RPC bandwidth by 15~27%. In real disk test, our Write-Write design gains 15%~22% in multi-client benchmarks compared with the Read-Write design.
