Zero-valent iron(ZVI)is a promising material for the remediation of Cd-contaminated paddy ***,the effects of ZVI added during flooding or drainage processes on cadmium(Cd)retention remain ***,Cd-contaminated paddy soil was incubated for 40days of flooding and then for 15 days of drainage,and the underlying mechanisms of Cd immobilization coupled with Fe/S/N redox processes were *** addition of ZVI to the flooding process was more conducive to Cd *** potential available Cd was detected by adding ZVI before flooding,which may be due to the increase in paddy soil pH and newly formed secondary Fe ***,the reductive dissolution of Fe minerals promoted the release of soil colloids,thereby increasing significantly the surface sites and causing Cd ***,the addition of ZVI before flooding played a vital role in Cd retention after soil *** contrast,the addition of ZVI in the drainage phase was not conducive to Cd retention,which might be due to the rapid decrease in soil pH that inhibited Cd adsorption and further immobilization on soil *** findings of this study demonstrated that Cd availability in paddy soil was largely reduced by adding ZVI during the flooding period and provide a novel insight into the mechanisms of ZVI remediation in Cd-contaminated paddy soils.

In this paper, we propose a motion planning method for mobile robots in order to satisfy task requirements specified in linear temporal logic (LTL). The proposed method follows the traditional hierarchical planning workflow, including path planning and trajectory planning. Firstly, we propose a path planning method based on rapidly exploring random trees (RRT*) and Dubins curve. The tree derived from RRT∗ is expanded with the help of Buchi automaton converted by an LTL formula. The proposed method can automatically adjust the iterations of sampling according to the scale of Buchi automata. Then, we formulate an optimization problem for the generation of trajectory. We use Bezier curve to express the trajectory and use differential flatness of mobile robots to simplify the optimization problem. Finally, we validate the practicality of our method through simulations and real-world experiments. © 2023 IEEE.

MaBEL1 regulates banana fruit ripening by activating cell wall and starch degradation-related genes

Banana is a typical subtropical fruit, sensitive to chilling injuries and prone to softening ***, the underlying regulatory mechanisms of the softening disorder caused by cold stress remain obscure. Herein, we found that BEL1-LIKE HOMEODOMAIN transcription factor 1(MaBEL1)and its associated proteins regulate the fruit softening and ripening process. The transcript and protein levels of MaBEL1 were up-regulated with fruit ripening but severely repressed by the chilling stress. Moreover, the MaBEL1 protein interacted directly with the promoters of the cell wall and starch degradation-related genes, such as MaAMY3, MaXYL32, and MaEXP-A8. The transient overexpression of MaBEL1 alleviated fruit chilling injury and ripening disorder caused by cold stress and promoted fruit softening and ripening of “Fenjiao” banana by inducing ethylene production and starch and cell wall degradation. The accelerated ripening was also validated by the ectopic overexpression in ***, MaBEL1-silencing aggravated the chilling injury and ripening disorder and repressed fruit softening and ripening by inhibiting ethylene production and starch and cell wall degradation. MaABI5-like and MaEBF1, the two positive regulators of the fruit softening process,interacted with MaBEL1 to enhance the promoter activity of the starch and cell wall degradationrelated genes. Moreover, the F-box protein MaEBF1 does not modulate the degradation of MaBEL1, which regulates the transcription of MaABI5-like protein. Overall, we report a novel MaBEL1-MaEBF1-MaABI5-like complex system that mediates the fruit softening and ripening disorder in “Fenjiao” bananas caused by cold stress.

An Escort and Defense Scenario is presented in which a high-value Target maneuvers through a high-risk region while being escorted by a mobile, defensive agent. Along this trajectory, an Attacker may be launched from one of several possible launch locations. If a launch occurs, the three agents play out a Target-Attacker-Defender (TAD) differential game in which the Defender attempts to intercept the Attacker at maximal distance from the Target while the Attacker strives to maneuver as close as possible to the Target. Prior to launch, the Target and Defender strive to preposition themselves in advantageous positions to effectively respond to a potential threat while simultaneously moving towards a safety region. An augmented collocation-based direct optimal control method is developed to solve the escort problem by solving and utilizing the value of the TAD differential subgame at each collocation point while simultaneously optimizing the primary optimal control problem. © 2024 IEEE.

A serrated slat with an appropriate sawtooth angle can significantly reduce discrete noise in high lift devices. In previous experiments, evaluations of different serrations' noise reduction capabilities were conducted using a consistent pattern along the spanwise direction as full-serrated slats. However, these comparisons were generally made asynchronously through noise measurements from several microphones. In this study, by dividing the slat region into two symmetrical parts with different configurations, a synchronous measurement of noise sources from different slat’s attachments is conducted by a 64-channel microphone array. By employing source power integration methods in both the frequency and spatial domains for half-serrated slats, the microphone array distinguished noise sources from different regions and produced the corresponding spectra strength. Additionally, using wavelet beamforming methods in the time domain, the intermittency of noise sources at different regions was evaluated simultaneously. The results indicated that noise-increase serrations produced a strong noise at a lower mode in the time domain. In contrasts, noise-decrease serrations succeeded in reducing the total noise, but failed to further increase the intermittency brought by the noise-increase serration in both the time and spatial domains. Although unsteady noise near the junction parts contributed to a frequency deviation in half-serrated slat cases, it is effective to direct compare the influence of different serration with baseline cases by the microphone array. © 2024 Proceedings of the International Congress on Sound and Vibration. High-frequency time-series data such as vibration signals will consume a lot of communication resources and require very high network bandwidth. Reducing the amount of data transmission while ensuring its availability is particularly important and challenging in high-frequency scenarios. Dual prediction scheme (DPS) can significantly reduce the amount of data transmission while ensuring data accuracy. However, traditional DPS cannot be applied to high-frequency scenarios due to the limitation of the mechanism design and model inference speed. We propose a novel long sequence DPS to efficiently reduce the volume of high-frequency data transmission in real time. To overcome the accuracy degradation due to gradient vanishing in long sequence prediction, we also propose an attention-based prediction model. Furthermore, we propose Informer to reduce the model’s computational complexity and enable fast inference and deployment on resource-constrained edge gateways. Experiments based on the real-world dataset show that the proposed scheme can efficiently cope with high-frequency data, reduce its transmission volume, and ensure data accuracy. © 2024 IEEE.

Lane marking detection is a necessary system in autonomous vehicles as well as a challenging one to develop. It forms the basis for intelligent systems in autonomous vehicle driving and has always been a concern in the field of computer vision, especially in perception systems. In fact, there are a lot of machine learning methods used for lane marking detection including CNN-based lane marking detection with various models and datasets for model training. In this research, a lane marking detection method based on instance segmentation is presented. The proposed method is trained using the TUSimple dataset. The lane marking detection results are then classified into 2 types of classes i.e., solid and dashed lines based on training using deep learning with the same dataset. Furthermore, the proposed lane marking detection and classification method is conducted in real experiments in urban area at Bandung, Indonesia. The method gives a promising result as it can well-classified the lanes with more than 70% accuracy. © 2023 IEEE.

This paper investigates the anomaly-resistant decentralized state estimation(SE) problem for a class of wide-area power systems which are divided into several non-overlapping areas connected through transmission lines. Two classes of measurements(i.e., local measurements and edge measurements) are obtained, respectively, from the individual area and the transmission lines. A decentralized state estimator, whose performance is resistant against measurement with anomalies, is designed based on the minimum error entropy with fiducial points(MEEF) criterion. Specifically, 1) An augmented model, which incorporates the local prediction and local measurement, is developed by resorting to the unscented transformation approach and the statistical linearization approach;2) Using the augmented model, an MEEF-based cost function is designed that reflects the local prediction errors of the state and the measurement;and 3) The local estimate is first obtained by minimizing the MEEF-based cost function through a fixed-point iteration and then updated by using the edge measuring information. Finally, simulation experiments with three scenarios are carried out on the IEEE 14-bus system to illustrate the validity of the proposed anomaly-resistant decentralized SE scheme.
