Effect of electromagnetic stirrer centered outside the mold on steel flow field of bloom continuous casting

Mold electromagnetic stirring technology for optimizing the flow of molten steel is now widely used in the continuous casting production process of high-quality ***,studies on the case that the center of the electromagnetic stirrer is located outside the mold have not been ***,the effect of the electromagnetic stirrer centered outside the mold on the steel flow field was studied in detail by means of numerical simulations.A Gauss meter was used to measure the magnetic induction intensity at different positions,currents,and *** test results were compared with the simulation results of electromagnetic stirring to calibrate and verify the accuracy of the electromagnetic ***,electromagnetic force was introduced into the flow field model as a source term to study its effect on the flow field under anomalous *** results show that when the center of the electromagnetic stirrer is located outside the mold,the magnetic field strength is about twice as strong as that located inside the *** also leads to an increase in the flow velocity near the electromagnetic *** a result,the optimal electromagnetic stirring parameters(200 A,2.5 Hz)were specified when the center of the electromagnetic stirrer is located outside the mold.

Electrified aircraft powertrains contain multiple tightly coupled subsystems, making them much more complex than traditional aircraft propulsion systems, both in terms of integration and control. Electrification enables aircraft to have multiple distributed thrust-producing fans that the flight control system can utilize for enhanced maneuverability, further increasing the control complexity. The SUbsonic Single Aft eNgine (SUSAN) Electrofan is a NASA concept aircraft that leverages this technology. SUSAN is a series/parallel partial hybrid electric single-aisle transport aircraft that takes advantage of its electrified powertrain to provide fuel burn and emissions benefits when compared to the state-of-the-art. Achieving these benefits requires an appropriately designed control architecture that coordinates the various powertrain and flight control subsystems. As such, the SUSAN aircraft is designed with a high level of automation, allowing it to properly manage coupled subsystems and react rapidly to failures and anomalies. To do this effectively, algorithms that perform component health management, fault detection, isolation, and accommodation, and continuous optimization, must be developed, tested, validated, and implemented. This paper describes a piloted evaluation of such an algorithm in scenarios with multiple fan failures, performed in a flight simulator, demonstrating failure recovery and continued safe operation up to the limits of the powertrain. The coarse-grained discrete element method(DEM)is probably a feasible option for simulating an actual drum-type biomass boiler,which contains over 10 million cylinder particles.A multi-level study was conducted based on particle and coarse-grained level data to evaluate the adequacy of the coarse-grained approach in terms of geometrical characteristics,kinematic features,and dynamic *** scaling laws for contact parameters were used and compared during the *** results show that the coarse-grained approach can accurately predict the positions of the free surface and active-passive interface,the mixing index,and the orientation *** in the velocity fields may occur due to the worse flowability of coarse-grained particles near the free *** efficiency is significantly improved by the coarse-grained model compared with the corresponding original case(the same DEM code without a coarse-grained model was used for the original simulations).

Dihydromyricetin alleviates intestinal inflammation by changing intestinal microbial metabolites and inhibiting the expression of the MyD88/NF-κB signaling pathway

Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), a common chronic gastrointestinal disease in humans, has emerged as a global public health challenge. Dihydromyricetin (DHM) has anti-inflammatory and antioxidant activities, which can alleviate inflammation. In this study, we explored the effect and underlying mechanism of DHM on dextran sulfate sodium (DSS)-induced colitis in mice and porcine jejunum epithelial cells (IPEC-J2) exposed to lipopolysaccharide (LPS). We found that DHM alleviated loss of weight, diarrhea, and damage of colon structure in colitis mice. For the intestinal microbial, a significant rise in the amount of the potentially beneficial genera and a decline in the amount of harmful genera were observed in DHM-treated colitis mice. Metabolomic analysis of cecal content revealed that DHM restored phenylalanine metabolism, arginine biosynthesis, and arachidonic acid metabolism disorders caused by intestinal inflammation. Moreover, DHM decreased the level of pro-inflammatory cytokines and reactive oxygen species in LPS-treated IPEC-J2 cells. DHM also reduced the expression of MyD88 and nuclear factor-κB (NF-κB). In summary, we found that 125 mg/kg DHM administration alleviated diarrhea, reinstated intestinal barrier function, modulated intestinal dysbiosis, and suppressed the expression of myeloid differentiation factor 88 (MyD88) and NF-κB. Therefore, DHM may be a potentially therapeutic agent for IBD. © 2023 The Authors. High temperature H_(2)S selective oxidation on a copper-substituted hexaaluminate catalyst: A facile process for treating low concentration acid gas

H_(2)S selective catalytic oxidation technology is a prospective way for the treatment of low concentration acid gas with simple process operation and low investment. However, undesirable results such as large formation of SO_(2) and catalyst deactivation inevitably occur, due to the temperature rise of fixed reaction bed caused by the exothermic reaction. Catalyst with high activity in wide operating temperature window, especially in high temperature range, is urgently needed. In this paper, a series of copper-substituted hexaaluminate catalysts (LaCu_(x), x = 0, 0.5, 1, 1.5, 2, 2.5) were prepared and investigated for the H_(2)S selective oxidation reaction at high temperature conditions (300-550℃). The LaCu_(1) catalyst exhibited excellent catalytic performance and great stability, which was attributed to the best reductive properties and proper pore structure. Besides, two facile deep processing paths were proposed to eliminate the remaining H_(2)S and SO_(2) in the tail gas.

Optimal Cooperative Secondary control for Islanded DC Microgrids via a Fully Actuated Approach

DC-DC converter-based multi-bus DC microgrids(MGs) in series have received much attention, where the conflict between voltage recovery and current balancing has been a hot topic. The lack of models that accurately portray the electrical characteristics of actual MGs while is controller design-friendly has kept the issue active. To this end, this paper establishes a large-signal model containing the comprehensive dynamical behavior of the DC MGs based on the theory of high-order fully actuated systems, and proposes distributed optimal control based on this. The proposed secondary control method can achieve the two goals of voltage recovery and current sharing for multi-bus DC MGs. Additionally, the simple structure of the proposed approach is similar to one based on droop control, which allows this control technique to be easily implemented in a variety of modern microgrids with different configurations. In contrast to existing studies, the process of controller design in this paper is closely tied to the actual dynamics of the MGs. It is a prominent feature that enables engineers to customize the performance metrics of the system. In addition, the analysis of the stability of the closed-loop DC microgrid system, as well as the optimality and consensus of current sharing are given. Finally, a scaled-down solar and battery-based microgrid prototype with maximum power point tracking controller is developed in the laboratory to experimentally test the efficacy of the proposed control method.

A model reduction approach for discrete-time linear time-variant systems with delayed inputs

A model reduction approach is presented for discrete-time linear time-variant input-delayed systems. According to this proposed approach, a dynamical variable is constructed by taking advantage of the current state and historical information of input. It is revealed that the behavior of this dynamical variable is governed by a discrete-time linear delay-free system. It is worth noting that the presented variable transformation does not require the system matrix to be invertible. Based on the reduced delay-free models,stabilizing control laws can be easily obtained for the original delayed system. For the case with a single input delay, the constructed variable is an exact prediction for the future state, and thus the stabilizing control law could be designed by replacing the future state with its prediction. Finally, three discrete-time periodic systems with delayed input are employed to illustrate how to utilize the presented model reduction approaches.

In order to effectively fill the holes in the depth map, especially to repair large holes, this paper proposes a new information entropy-guided strategy for depth inpainting. Firstly, the depth map and color image undergo preprocessing to obtain a connected hole map and grayscale image for subsequent steps. The filling priority of invalid points is then evaluated by introducing the concept of information entropy, which improves the intelligence of the filling priority evaluation results. Secondly, the depth value prediction for invalid points is guided by color and gradient information, which ensures the integrity of the overall depth data and enhances the precision of the restoration. Finally, a comparison experiment was conducted on the Middlebury dataset. The proposed method demonstrated better robustness and accuracy compared to other competing methods, providing new ideas for related research in the field of deep image processing. © 2023 IEEE.
