Dietary supplementation of benzoic acid and essential oils combination enhances intestinal resilience against LPS stimulation in weaned piglets

Background The benefits of combining benzoic acid and essential oils(BAO)to mitigate intestinal impairment during the weaning process have been well established,while the detailed underlying mechanism has not been fully *** research has primarily focused on the reparative effects of BAO on intestinal injury,while neglecting its potential in enhancing intestinal stress *** In this study,we investigated the pre-protective effect of BAO against LPS-induced stress using a modified experimental *** were pre-supplemented with BAO for 14 d,followed by a challenge with LPS or saline to collect blood and intestinal *** Our findings demonstrated that BAO supplementation led to significant improvements in piglets’final weight,average daily gain,and feed intake/body gain ***,BAO supplementation positively influenced the composition of intestinal microbiota,increasing beneficial Actinobacteriota and Alloprevotella while reducing harmful Desulfobacterota,Prevotella and ***,BAO supplementation effectively mitigated oxidative disturbances and inflammatory responses induced by acute LPS *** was evidenced by elevated levels of T-AOC,SOD,and GSH,as well as decreased levels of MDA,TNF-α,and IL-6 in the ***,piglets subjected to LPS challenge and pre-supplemented with BAO exhibited significant improvements in intestinal morphological structure and enhanced integrity,as indicated by restored expression levels of Occludin and Claudin-1 compared to the non-supplemented *** analysis revealed that BAO supplementation enhanced the jejunal antioxidative capacity by increasing GSH-Px levels and decreasing MDA levels under the LPS challenge and stimulated the activation of the Nrf2 signaling ***,the reduction of TLR4/NF-κB/MAPK signaling pathways activation and proinflammatory factor were also observed in the jejunal of those piglets fed with ***

Aiming at the fine cracks in the pavement crack detection is difficult to distinguish with the background, there are leakage and misdetection under the complex background, and the model parameter quantity is large, which is not favorable to deploy in the detection equipment and other problems, this paper proposes a YOLOv8s-FES pavement crack detection model. The model is improved based on YOLOv8s: Firstly, the C2f-Faster structure using partial convolutional PConv idea is proposed, which effectively reduces the parameter burden of the model and decreases the computational complexity;Secondly, by introducing the EMA attention mechanism, the model is enhanced to focus on the target features at different scales while improving the accuracy of feature extraction;Finally, the SIoU loss function with angle information is introduced into the regression loss part of the detection head, which improves the model’s localization accuracy and convergence speed. After experimental data comparison, the detection precision and recall rate of the YOLOv8s-FES model is improved by 3.7% and 2.7%, respectively;the number of parameters and FLOPs are reduced by 21.7% and 11.3%, respectively;and the frame rate of image processing is improved by 11.0% compared with that of YOLOv8s model. The graphs of the detection experiment results also show that the YOLOv8s-FES model has higher confidence scores for the detection of fine cracks and complex background cracks with interferences, effectively solving the problems of misdetection and omission, and improving the detection integrity. © The Authors.

The paper deals with the construction of dynamic occupancy maps, where the grid cell can contain not only information about the presence or absence of an obstacle, but also information about its velocity. We propose a multimodal approach to constructing 2D dynamic occupancy maps from LiDAR point clouds and camera images. The approach involves building a static occupancy map from LiDAR data and then adding information about cell velocities based on neural network instance segmentation and object tracking in monocular onboard camera images. Pedestrians and vehicles were considered as dynamic objects. One of the important stages is the projection of the object masks found in the images onto a 2D occupancy map. We compared the proposed approach with the classical method of constructing dynamic occupancy maps from LiDAR data based on the Monte Carlo method. An experimental quality evaluation of the approaches was carried out using the popular Mapillary Vistas and Waymo Open Datasets containing street scenes and a large number of dynamic objects. We demonstrate that the considered approaches can work in real time, which indicates the possibility of their application as part of the on-board control systems of autonomous cars or ground mobile robots. A Time-Series Analysis on the Association Between Fine Particulate Matter and Daily Mortality—Shijiazhuang City,Hebei Province,China,2015–2020

Introduction:Shijiazhuang is one of the most polluted cities in China,but few studies have investigated the acute impact of fine particulate matter(PM_(2.5))on mortality in this *** assessed associations between PM_(2.5)and cause-specific mortality during 2015 to ***:We obtained air quality data from Shijiazhuang Ecology and Environment Bureau,meteorological data from Shijiazhuang Meteorological Bureau,and mortality data from Shijiazhuang CDC’s Cause of Death Reporting System for our *** used a quasi-Poisson regression generalized additive model to assess excess risk of death for a single time-lag and for moving average time-lags of 0–7 days,stratifying by year,sex,age,and ***:There were 76,859 non-accidental deaths recorded in Shijiazhuang during the study *** daily concentration of PM_(2.5)ranged from 6.3μg/m^(3)to 625.3μg/m^(3),and the annual mean concentration was 77.6μg/m^(3).Regression analysis showed that an increment of PM_(2.5)of 10μg/m^(3)in a two-day average concentration(lag01)was associated with 0.47%[95%Confidence Interval(CI):0.24%,0.70%],0.49%(95%CI:0.19%,0.79%),and 0.72%(95%CI:0.22%,1.23%)increases in non-accidental deaths,cardiovascular disease deaths,and respiratory disease deaths,*** reduction of PM_(2.5)concentration,impact of PM_(2.5)on respiratory disease deaths decreased,but the impact of PM_(2.5)on total nonaccidental deaths and circulatory disease deaths did not change ***:Although PM_(2.5)has been greatly reduced in recent years,PM_(2.5)pollution is still serious in ***_(2.5)was significantly associated with non-accidental death,cardiovascular disease death,and respiratory disease *** PM_(2.5)concentrations decreased,risk of death from respiratory diseases also decreased.

Hydropower has now become a fundamental industry and infrastructure for the social and economic development of our country. While hydropower brings convenience and benefits, it also comes with significant safety hazards. Therefore, real-time condition monitoring of hydropower units is necessary. This paper addressed the complex operational conditions of hydropower units by first dividing the data into mixed datasets containing both normal and abnormal data, and independent datasets where normal and abnormal data were separated. For the mixed datasets with both normal and abnormal data, the upper and lower bounds for anomaly detection were obtained using the standard deviation criterion based on normalized weighting and Monte Carlo simulation. For the independent datasets that follow a normal distribution, the dynamic upper and lower bounds for anomaly detection were determined based on the standard deviation criterion. For the independent datasets that do not follow a normal distribution, anomaly monitoring and calculation were performed based on multi-factor indicators. Experimental results show that when the proposed methods were applied to actual data from hydropower units under complex conditions, the accuracy of anomaly detection was relatively high, resulting in better monitoring of abnormal conditions. © 2024 IEEE.

Differential signals are key in control engineering as they anticipate future behavior of process variables and therefore are critical in formulating control laws such as proportional-integral-derivative(PID).The practical challenge,however,is to extract such signals from noisy measurements and this difficulty is addressed first by *** in the form of linear and nonlinear tracking differentiator(TD).While improvements were made,TD did not completely resolve the conflict between the noise sensitivity and the accuracy and timeliness of the *** two approaches proposed in this paper start with the basic linear TD,but apply iterative learning mechanism to the historical data in a moving window(MW),to form two new iterative learning tracking differentiators(IL-TD):one is a parallel IL-TD using an iterative ladder network structure which is implementable in analog circuits;the other a serial IL-TD which is implementable digitally on any computer *** algorithms are validated in simulations which show that the proposed two IL-TDs have better tracking differentiation and de-noise performance compared to the existing linear TD.

Optical fiber hydrogen sensors have recently received great attention because of the advantages of essential safety, anti-electromagnetic interference, corrosion resistance, suitable for long distance detection and so on. A new type of optical fiber hydrogen sensors based on stimulated Raman scattering spectroscopy and nanofiber was proposed several yeas ago which can realize ultra-fast, ultra-sensitive hydrogen detection with ultra-wide dynamic range. However, the Raman gain depends on the polarization states of the pump and Stokes beams and the Raman signal will drift when the fiber status or the environment temperature are changed. In this paper, we propose and demonstrate an optical fiber passive depolarizer to suppress the polarization dependence of stimulated Raman scattering gain in the aforementioned hydrogen sensor system. The depolarizer mainly consists of two fiber polarization beam splitters(PBSs) and a piece of delay fiber. The angle of incidence for any PBS is 45° and the delay fiber length is much longer than the coherent length of the input beam. The input beam is split into two beams by PBS1 one of which transfers through the delay fiber. Then these two beams are combined by PBS2 to obtain the output beam composed of two orthogonal beams with equal power, and their phase relationship changes randomly. By inserting the depolarizer into the pump beam path, the Raman signal will not be influenced by the changes of the fiber status or the environment temperature. This achievement would be very useful for real application of the hydrogen sensor in long distance detection and multi-channel sensing system. © 2025 SPIE.

The paper considers the condition and comparison of representation on the Internet of both unaffected and reformed research institutions, in order to form a methodology for assessing the possibility of adequate and timely response to the enormous social and economic challenges occurring in the world;for this purpose, websites' content condition and dynamics are analyzed using the example of agricultural research institutions based on monitoring thereof in 2017 and 2022. It is shown that the science reform proved itself inconsistent since at first it did not respond to the demands of production during the pandemic, and now to the requests due to sanctions. The result of the science reform was a significant increase in the number of uninformative websites, which contradicts the new social order that all sectors of society, business, and management generate for digital tools for transferring scientific developments to the economy against the backdrop of severe sanctions and the pandemic. © 2023 IEEE.

Cu_(2)Te-based materials are a type of superionic conductor belonging to the class of phonon-liquid elec-tron-crystal materials and have achieved high ZT values by doping and ***,it is easy to form copper vacancies in Cu_(2)Te which leads to an excessive carrier concentration and then results in a low Seebeck ***,controlling copper ion migration and optimizing carrier concen-tration is essential to improve the thermoelectric performance of Cu_(2)*** paper reports high-performance Cu_(2)TeeAg_(2)Te composite with high application value in the low-middle temperature re-gion,which is achieved by fine tuning the carrier concentration using Fe addition and non-stoichiometric Te,as well as controlling the thermal conductivity of composite.A high ZT of~1.2 is obtained in AgCu_(0.97)Fe_(0.03)Te_(0.96)at a low temperature of 573 ***,the phase transition mechanism of Cu_(2)TeeAg_(2)Te and its effect on the thermoelectric transport performance are revealed that go beyond nanostructuring and single-doping,which provides a strong theoretical basis for research and perfor-mance improvement of thermoelectric materials in this system.
