As a crucial member of the evolutionary computation (EC), ant colony optimization (ACO) converges to the optimal result through a continuous process of iterative optimization. However, determining the convergence status of an ant colony remains a challenging task without well-established methods. To this end, this paper proposes a global evaluation indicator - average absolute eigenvalue of pheromone matrix (AAEPM) by constructing a pheromone matrix and analyzing its eigenvalue variations. This indicator aims to assess the convergence status of the ant colony during the evolutionary process. Experimental results show that the AAEPM is correlated with the convergence status of ACO and is not significantly influenced by algorithm parameters and problem scale. © 2024 IEEE.

Anomaly detection refers to the identification of data objects that deviate from the general data distribution. One of the important challenges in anomaly detection is handling high-dimensional data, especially when it contains a large number of redundant attributes. Although traditional Isolation Forest (iForest) and Extended Isolation Forest (EIF) have performed well in anomaly detection, the detection accuracy is still extremely influenced by redundant attributes. In this paper, we propose a two-tier architecture named RS-EIF, to alleviate the negative impact of redundant attributes. Specifically, the RS-EIF combines the rough set theory and EIF algorithm and provides an effective basis for the EIF-based anomaly detection method by removing redundant attributes with rough set theory. Experimental results show that the RS-EIF algorithm performs better than the iForest and EIF algorithms in terms of anomaly detection rate, and the results of the combination of rough set theory and EIF are more prominent compared to the other combination methods. © 2023 IEEE.

The processes of sowing and fertiliser application represent a significant aspect of agricultural production. In order to achieve efficient and precise seeding and fertiliser application, mass flow detection of seed and fertiliser particles can facilitate real-time monitoring and precise decision-making for intelligent seeding and fertiliser application. However, the diversity of seed and fertiliser particle types and particle flow modes presents a challenge for existing detection methods, particularly in meeting the varying operational requirements, especially for particle mass flow detection in low-altitude and high-speed sowing operations of agricultural drones. In such cases, the overlap and flow rate will have a significant impact on the detection results due to the large displacement and the continuous high-throughput dense phase of the particle flow. This paper provides a summary of the existing seed and fertiliser particle mass flow detection techniques and their underlying working principles. It compares the direct detection based on mass with the indirect detection methods based on velocity and concentration, and analyses their respective advantages, disadvantages and applicability. It also explores the possibility of optimising the existing detection methods for the specific needs of agricultural UAVs and considers the potential introduction of cutting-edge science and technology in order to develop an efficient, accurate and convenient detection system to meet the growing market demand. © (2025), (INMA Bucharest). Cloud storage services have been used by most businesses and individual users. However, data loss, service interruptions and cyber attacks often lead to cloud storage services not being provided properly, and these incidents have caused financial losses to users. Second, traditional and single-cloud model disaster recovery services are no longer suitable for the current complex cloud storage systems. Therefore, a scheme to provide disaster recovery for cloud storage services in a multi-cloud storage environment is needed in real production. In this paper, we propose a disaster recovery scheme based on blockchain technology. The proposed scheme outlined in this study aims to address the issue of data availability within the cloud storage landscape. The proposed scheme achieves this goal by dividing data into hot and cold categories, verifying the integrity of copy data via blockchain technology, and utilizing blockchain networks to manage multi-cloud storage systems. Experimental findings demonstrate that the proposed scheme yields superior results in terms of computation and time overheads. © 2023 IEEE.

In a multi-cloud storage system, provenance data records all operations and ownership during its lifecycle, which is critical for data security and audibility. However, recording provenance data also poses some challenging security and storage issues. In this paper, we present a secure and efficient multi-cloud storage data source scheme, BMDP. We use blockchain technology to ensure the secure storage of provenance data and design a smart contract to utilize the provenance data to ensure the proper operation of the multi-cloud storage system. Finally, we analyze the scheme's safety and do simulation experiments to show that the scheme has practicality. © 2023 IEEE.

Efficient Remote Memory Paging for Disaggregated Memory Systems 1

Memory disaggregation has attracted increasing attention in recent years because it is a cost-efficient approach to scale memory capacity for applications in a data center. However, the latency of remote memory access is a major concern in disaggregated memory systems. This paper presents VANDI, a virtual memory paging mechanism that allows applications to use remote memory pools transparently. VANDI enables effective data caching and prefetching mechanisms to address the problem of high access latency in disaggregated memory systems. VANDI exploits a low-complexity cache replacement strategy to optimize the asynchronous staging queue so that the remote write latency can be significantly reduced. VANDI can also prefetch data in multi-granularity from a remote memory pool in an adaptive manner, and thus further improves the hit rate of the local cache to reduce the read latency of remote memory. Our extensive experiments using micro-benchmarks show that VANDI can improve the performance of typical remote paging system–Infiniswap by up to 15 × –102 ×. VANDI can also improve the performance of state-of-the-art disaggregated memory system–Valet by 1.2 × –2.7 ×. For typical machine learning workloads, VANDI can achieve 20% to 80% performance improvement compared with the state-of-the-art Valet. © 2023, Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

Time range query is essential to facilitate a wide range of blockchain applications such as data provenance in the supply chain. Existing blockchain systems adopt the storage-consuming tree-based index structure for better query performance, however, fail to efficiently work for most blockchain nodes with limited resources. In this paper, we propose Anole, a lightweight and verifiable time range query mechanism, to present the feasibility of building up a learned-based index to achieve high performance and low storage costs on blockchain systems. The key idea of Anole is to exploit the temporal characteristics of blockchain data distribution and design a tailored lightweight index to reduce storage costs. Moreover, it uses a digital signature to guarantee the correctness and completeness of query results by considering the learned index’s error bounds, and applies batch verification to further improve verification performance. Experimental results demonstrate that Anole improves the query performance by up to 10 × and reduces the storage overhead by 99.4 % compared with the state-of-the-art vChain+. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

Traditional unlearnable strategies have been proposed to prevent unauthorized users from training on the 2D image data. With more 3D point cloud data containing sensitivity information, unauthorized usage of this new type data has also become a serious concern. To address this, we propose the first integral unlearnable framework for 3D point clouds including two processes: (i) we propose an unlearnable data protection scheme, involving a class-wise setting established by a category-adaptive allocation strategy and multi-transformations assigned to samples;(ii) we propose a data restoration scheme that utilizes class-wise inverse matrix transformation, thus enabling authorized-only training for unlearnable data. This restoration process is a practical issue overlooked in most existing unlearnable literature, i.e., even authorized users struggle to gain knowledge from 3D unlearnable data. Both theoretical and empirical results (including 6 datasets, 16 models, and 2 tasks) demonstrate the effectiveness of our proposed unlearnable framework. Directed Acyclic Graph (DAG)-based blockchain (a.k.a distributed ledger) has become prevalent for supporting highly concurrent applications. Its inherent parallel data structure accelerates block generation significantly, shifting the bottleneck from performance to storage scalability. An intuitive solution is to apply state sharding that divides the entire ledger (i.e., transactions and states) into multiple shards. While each node only stores proportional transactions, it suffers from the challenges of storing and ensuring the processing consistency of cross-shard transactions. In this paper, we propose SharDAG, a new mechanism that leverages adaptive sharding for DAG-based blockchains to achieve high performance and strong consistency. The key idea of SharDAG is to exploit unique characteristics -silent assets -and design a lightweight processing mechanism based on avatar account caching. Furthermore, we design a Byzantine resilient cross-shard verification mechanism with a theoretically optimal number of participating nodes, which guarantees the consistency and security of avatar account aggregation. Our comprehensive evaluations on real-world workloads demonstrate that SharDAG presents up to 3.8 x throughput improvement compared to the state-of-the-art and reduces the storage overhead of cross-shard transactions. © 2024 IEEE.

Aspect Sentiment Quad Prediction (ASQP) aims to extract all sentiment elements in quads for a given review to explain the reason for the sentiment. Previous table-filling based methods have achieved promising results by modeling word-pair relations. However, these methods decompose the ASQP task into several subtasks without considering the association between sentiment elements. Most importantly, they fail to tackle the situation where a sentence contains multiple implicit expressions. To address these limitations, we propose a simple yet effective Unified Grid Tagging Scheme (UGTS) to extract sentiment quadruplets in one shot, with two additional special tokens from pre-trained models to represent potential implicit aspect and opinion terms. Based on this, we first introduce the adaptive graph diffusion convolution network to construct the direct connection between explicit and implicit sentiment elements from syntactic and semantic views. Next, we utilize conditional layer normalization to refine the mutual indication effect between words for matching valid aspect-opinion pairs. Finally, we employ the triaffine mechanism to integrate heterogeneous word-pair relations to capture higher-order interactions between sentiment elements. Experimental results on four benchmark datasets show the effectiveness and robustness of our model, which achieves state-of-the-art performance. © 2025 Association for Computational Linguistics.
