The purpose of this study is to ensure the imposition of Wingtip Vortex Wind Turbine (WVWT) as well as performance enhancers such as wing fence and winglet at the ends of the wingtips of fixed-wing Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) to meet the power requirements of the UAVs and enhance their performances. Various types of energy rotors with performance enhancers are compared and so the best suited one for turbines to generate power effectively is determined. This work performs comparative assessments on several vertical axis rotors, such as the advanced Savonius wind turbine, modified Wells Turbine, and Archimedes swirl wind turbine with winglet, and wing-fences. The design features of the wing are derived by the selection of a long-range UAV for this inquiry. Under conditions of incompressible cum turbulent flow, ANSYS Fluent software is used to perform computational fluid dynamics simulations on the modelled wing with and without different rotors/enhancers. In order to ensure precise computational outcomes, grid independence studies are performed to impose the most optimum meshing conditions. Firstly, the aerodynamic performances of wing with and without WVWTs, and performance enhancers (winglet and wing-fences) are performed, so the decision has been made based on the resulting parameters obtained from the computational simulations. Secondly, aero-acoustics investigations are performed on all the imposed models, so the comprehensive outcomes are discussed. From the derived results, the wing with wing-fence model performed better with the highest lift magnitude of 104.49 N and also provided a reasonably low Aeroacoustic noise of 75.93 dB when compared to the other considered models. Thirdly, structural integrities of the imposed wing with wing-fence are investigated Using fluid-structure interaction analysis for a range of lightweight materials, including glass, carbon, and Kevlar fibre reinforced polymers. Optimum material selection for the pivotal components of Unmanned Airships employed for extraterrestrial exploration is carried out in this study. The materials comprise various alloys, composites and other lightweight materials, adding up to a total number of thirteen. Preliminary fluid dynamic analysis is done under four loading conditions: forward velocity of 5 m/s at 1000 and 10000 rotations of the propeller and gust loading of 12 m/s at 1000 and 10000 rotations, respectively. This is done to analyze the fluid dynamic effects of the propeller at all conditions, ranging from normal cruising, hovering and even tight maneuvering if required. The material selection is done depending on the fact that the atmosphere of Titan is nitrogen-dominated, and the materials used in the exploration vehicles should be resistant to its effects. A model unmanned Aircraft with a propulsive system is designed and simulated to meet the conditions provided. A unique calculation is involved in the computational development of a co-axial propeller, which is a primary propulsive device for the abovementioned Unmanned Airship. From the study, it is inferred that Boron fiber reinforced polymer (BFRP) shows enhanced performance when compared to other materials in terms of density and deformation. The parameters of both stress and strain are high in BFRP but the overall performance with deformation ranges from 0.013 mm for normal conditions to 1.8 mm for extreme conditions. An overall performance increment of approximately 80% is seen when compared to other composites. This is followed by Inconel alloys, which have the second-best material properties. Although they possess enhanced structural derivative parameters, their density proves to be a factor that affects their applications in space missions. Disposal of hospital waste is critical for protecting public health and the environment. This article focuses on analysis using RStudio and VOSviewer to examine trends in advanced technologies and sustainability initiatives. However, beyond technological advancements, the study also highlights significant challenges related to organizational inefficiencies, governance issues, environmental impacts, and infectious waste disposal. Addressing these challenges requires not only technological innovations but also policy reforms and enhanced regulatory frameworks. This study underlines the need for a comprehensive, collaborative approach and recommends the adoption of robust methods to improve the efficiency and safety of waste management practices.

High oxidative stress injury and bacterial infection are the main challenges that impair wound healing in diabetic ***,a hydrogel with enhanced antimicrobial and antioxidant properties was developed for rapid healing of diabetic *** this study,chitosan methacrylate-gallic acid(CSMA-GA)polymer with antioxidant activity,antimicrobial activity,and ultraviolet(UV)-triggered gelling properties was developed as a hydrogel ***,amphiphilic Pluronic F127 molecules were used to load hydrophobic chlorhexidine drug molecules to obtain F127/chlorhexidine nanoparticle(NP)with strong antibacterial ***,F127/chlorhexidine NPs were encapsulated in CSMA-GA hydrogel to further enhance its antibacterial *** hybrid hydrogel platform(CSMA-GA/F127/chlorhexidine(CMGFC))exhibited high antibacterial efficiency(>99.9%)and strong reactive oxygen species(ROS)scavenging ability(>80.0%),which effectively protected cells from external oxidative stress(upregulated superoxide dismutase(SOD)and glutathione/oxidized glutathione disulfide(GSH/GSSG)levels and downregulated malondialdehyde(MDA)levels).Moreover,in vivo results proved that the CMGFC hydrogel significantly reduced inflammatory responses(downregulated interleukin-6(IL-6)and upregulated interleukin-10(IL-10)levels),promoted angiogenesis(upregulated vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF)and platelet endothelial cell adhesion molecule-1(CD 31)levels),and wound healing(enhanced collagen deposition and tissue remodelling).Overall,the CMGFC hydrogel with enhanced antimicrobial and antioxidant properties demonstrated significant potential to enhance diabetic wound healing.

This study uses a commercial Cu–Zn catalyst in fixed-bed reactors to investigate hydrogen production from methanol steam reforming. Box-Behnken design, analysis of variance, and artificial neural network were employed to analyze the parameter sensitivity and find the optimal combination of operating parameters (i.e., steam-to-carbon ratio), reaction temperature, and gas hourly space velocity. A response surface regression model is fit using data generated by BBD. Both RSM and ANN results showed that the impact order of the operating parameters was reaction temperature > S/C ratio > GHSV, and GHSV had a limited effect on MSR performance. Both models generated more accurate forecasts when predicting hydrogen yield than methanol conversion. Meanwhile, ANN showed better capability for predicting methanol conversion and hydrogen yield when compared to the RSM. The maximum methanol conversion of 98.56% and hydrogen yield of 2.98 mol (mol CH3OH)−1 were acquired at the reaction temperature of 280 °C and the S/C = 1.5. This approach is conducive to efficiently producing hydrogen from methanol, a crucial hydrogen carrier with easy hydrogen storage and delivery. © 2024 Hydrogen Energy Publications LLC

Medical image segmentation often relies on fully automated methods, but achieving the necessary accuracy in clinical settings can be challenging. Interactive segmentation methods attempt to improve accuracy by incorporating user input in areas of inaccurate segmentation. However, these methods depend on the user’s subjective judgment, without considering the uncertainty in model predictions. To address these issues, we propose an incremental interactive medical image segmentation model guided by uncertainty. First, our proposed model combines medical image segmentation with a Gaussian process (GP), models medical image segmentation as a binary pixel classification problem based on a GP, and guides the selection of the interaction location by the magnitude of the variance value of the GP to reduce the uncertainty of the model prediction. Second, we introduce the sparse variational GP (SVGP), and we propose an incremental SVGP updating paradigm so that the SVGP can incrementally update its parameters by learning only the new interaction data without having to relearn all the old data. In addition, we propose a new induced point selection strategy and combine it with SVGP to reduce the complexity of the Gaussian process for calculating the covariance matrix. We trained and tested our model on the Medical Segmentation Decathlon’s three datasets of lung, pancreas, and colon, validating its generalization performance using the ISIC2018, CVC-ClinicDB, and KiTS19 datasets.

To improve communications network efficiency, situation identification is essential. The requirement for real-time scenario identification of vehicular communications is growing more pressing provided a certain vehicle movement makes vehicle interaction circumstances vibrant and that there are significant variations in signal propagation, vehicle speeds, and vehicular concentrations among possible situations. On the other hand, it has been demonstrated that cryptography methods are less effective at preventing insider attacks that originate inside the automotive communication network. A misbehaviour detection system has been found to be more effective in identifying and preventing insider attacks. This research study presents a misbehaviour detection system based on machine learning and is learned utilizing datasets produced by numerical simulations in a genuine vehicular distributed system. Vehicle communication systems may choose the proper spatial multiplexing and system integration by correctly detecting the current conditions in order to maintain an efficient and reliable operating condition. A back-propagation neural network (BPNN) is trained, and a scenario identification model is developed, using datasets that comprise channel properties acquired from channel measurements in various scenarios. Additionally, the proposed identification model's best performance-enabling model configuration technique is analysed and offered. The identification accuracy is then verified using validation information from the relevant circumstances. © 2023 IEEE.

Interactivity is crucial for enabling models to adjust and optimize based on user feedback, thereby enhancing overall performance. However, existing methods for emotion recognition lack interactivity, failing to allow experts to provide feedback for interaction and updating prediction results, thus limiting the improvement of recognition accuracy. To address this problem, we propose a new paradigm for uncertainty-guided incremental interactive emotion recognition based on Gaussian process (GP). This paradigm involves interaction by having experts provide correction labels for samples with high prediction uncertainty, enabling incremental updates. Firstly, we model the emotion recognition task as a GP-based framework, utilizing the variance of GP to quantify the model’s uncertainty, thereby guiding experts in targeted interactions. Secondly, within the GP framework, we use an incremental update strategy to optimize prediction results. This method acquires new data through expert interaction, allowing for incremental updates based on new data without reprocessing all existing data. Thirdly, to tackle the computational complexity of inverting the covariance matrix in GP, we use a sparse approximation strategy, selecting inducing points and performing variational inference to efficiently approximate the GP posterior, thereby reducing computational complexity. Our method has been validated through extensive experiments on the DEAP and DREAMER datasets, demonstrating superior recognition performance compared to state-of-the-art methods.

Data quality issues are still a challenge in data migration. Existing methods mainly focus on technical issues. However, the problem of data quality is not only a technical problem, but the main one is the non-technical aspect. This paper aims to identify the role of data governance in the data migration process. The qualitative research method uses two primary references, namely the high-level data migration approach from Kazimir et al. and the DAMA-DMBOK framework. Both are highly compatible with data migration processes focusing on data quality and referencing governance roles. The case study was conducted in a central government working on data migration to the new One Data application. The results show that eight data governance roles are involved in 20 migration processes (65%). Non-technical activities related to data quality involve more than half of the data migration process. This paper proposes the role of data governance for non-technical aspects of the migration process. This paper presents a case study of the high-level data migration process and how data governance comes into play. This research can help the government and practitioners overcome problems that often occur in data migration, especially related to data quality. © The Author(s) 2024.
