Online learning platforms are widely used in the field of education and are popular for their ability to personalize learning plans based on students' individual needs and learning history. Knowledge tracking is an important task in the field of education, which aims to monitor students' learning progress and knowledge mastery. Traditional knowledge tracking methods mainly track students' knowledge state based on individual historical information, but often ignore the contextual information in the learning process of students, that is, the impact of recent similar learning experiences on the prediction accuracy of students' answers. Therefore, we propose enhanced knowledge tracing for online learning based on attention mechanisms, which can effectively use attention mechanisms to improve the performance of knowledge tracing models. First, we introduce parallel attention mechanism that adjusts its attention to different contextual information to better capture the impact of the latest relevant practices. Secondly, considering the influence of different factors can evaluate students' knowledge status more comprehensively and reduce the bias of single factor. The effectiveness of our proposed method is demonstrated by experiments on four real data sets, and the experimental results show that our method has the best performance.

Wireless mesh networks offer a promising solution for bridging the digital divide. Utilizing multi-hop communication, these networks can extend the coverage of conventional wireless systems to cover larger areas. However, their deployment requires careful planning, typically preceded by simulations to determine the optimal placement of routers. While several simulators exist for wireless network planning and performance analysis, they often pose significant challenges. Most are complex, requiring advanced expertise in programming and network administration, making them inaccessible to non-experts. This complexity hinders community-driven deployment efforts, particularly in regions where local expertise is scarce. To address these challenges, this work aims to simplify the deployment process by developing a user-friendly simulator for planning wireless mesh networks and determining the geographic placement of routers in a target area. We created a web-based simulator using the GeoDjango framework. The planning process leverages a multi-objective node placement optimization model to identify optimal router locations. © 2025 Elsevier B.V.. All rights reserved.

Herein,a one-step co-pyrolysis protocol was adopted for the first time to prepare a novel pyrogenic carbon-Cu^(0)/Fe_(3)O_(4)heteroatoms (FCBC) in CO_(2)ambiance to discern the roles of each component in PDS *** co-pyrolysis,CO_(2)catalyzed formation of reducing gases by biomass which facilitated reductive transformation of Fe^(3+)and Cu^(2+)to Cu^(0)and Fe_(3)O_(4),*** to the analysis,the resulting metal (oxide) catalyzed graphitization of biocharand decomposition of volatile substances resulting in an unprecedented surface area (1240 m^(2)/g).The resulting FCBC showed greater structural defects and less electrical *** experiments indicated that Rhodamine B (RhB) degradation by FCBC (100%) was superior to Fe_(3)O_(4)(50%) and Cu^(0)/Fe_(3)O_(4)(76.4%) in persulfate (PDS) system,which maintained reasonable efficiency (75.6%-63.6%) within three *** reactive oxygen species (ROS) associated with RhB degradation was identified by an electron paramagnetic resonance and confirmed by scavenging *** degradation invoked both(sulfate and dominantly hydroxyl) radical and non-radical (singlet oxygen,^(1)O_(2)) *** FCBC,Cu^(0)can continuously react with Fe^(3+)in Fe_(3)O_(4)to generate larger quantities of Fe^(2+),and both Cu^(0)and Fe^(2+)activated PDS to yield sulfate radicals which was quickly converted to hydroxyl ***,Cu^(0)/Cu^(2+)could complex with PDS to form a metastable complex,which particularly contributed to1O_(2)*** cascade reactions by FCBC were reinforced by carbonyl group of biochar and favorable electron transfer *** work highlighted a new approach to prepare a magnetic and environment-benign heterogonous catalyst to remove organic pollutants in water.

In the past few decades, Computer-Assisted Education Systems (CAES) have experienced rapid development. These platforms can recommend adaptive learning materials, conduct knowledge tests, offer learning path suggestions, and create personalized study plans for learners. Knowledge tracing (KT) is a fundamental task in the field of artificial intelligence education. It involves the estimation of students' knowledge levels based on the likelihood of their correct responses to questions, allowing the prediction of their future performance. In recent years, it has gained significant attention due to its importance in subsequent tasks such as organizing learning materials. However, previous knowledge tracing models have struggled to simultaneously enhance interpretability and predictive accuracy. In this paper, we propose a knowledge tracing model based on attention mechanisms. This model establishes connections between the current problem and each past question the learner has answered, embedding a simple and interpretable Item Response Theory (IRT) model to capture individual differences between questions. Our extensive experiments, conducted on five benchmark datasets (Statics2011, ASSISTments2009, ASSISTments2015, Algebra06 and Slepemapy), demonstrate significant improvements in our model compared to previous knowledge tracing methods. Further analysis illustrates how our method improves the interpretive aspects of knowledge tracing, signifying its enhanced applicability in practical educational contexts.

Organic nitrogen(ON)compounds play a significant role in the light absorption of brown carbon and the formation of organic aerosols,however,the mixing state,secondary formation processes,and influencing factors of ON compounds are still *** paper reports on the mixing state of ON-containing particles based on measurements obtained using a highperformance single particle aerosol mass spectrometer in January 2020 in *** ON-containing particles accounted for 21% of the total detected single particles,and the particle count and number fraction of the ON-containing particles were two times higher at night than during the *** prominent increase in the content of ON-containing particles with the enhancement of NO_xmainly occurred at night,and accompanied by high relative humidity and nitrate,which were associated with heterogeneous reactions between organics and gaseous NO_(x)and/or NO_(3)*** synchronous decreases in ON-containing particles and the mass absorption coefficient of water-soluble extracts at 365 nm in the afternoon may be associated with photo-bleaching of the ON species in the *** addition,the positive matrix factorization analysis found five factors dominated the formation processes of ON particles,and the nitrate factor(33%)mainly contributed to the production of ON particles at *** results of this study provide unique insights into the mixing states and secondary formation processes of the ON-containing particles.

Computational analysis of fluid-structure interaction in case of fish swimming in the vortex street

The fluid-structure interaction (FSI) in case of fish swimming in the vortex street is investigated by numerical simulations. The vortex street is generated by a D-section cylinder. A 2-D fish model is placed on the downstream centerline of the bluff cylinder at a distance of 4 diameters away from the center of the cylinder. To simulate the fish body undulation and movement, the moving mesh is generated by a coupling approach based on the radial basis function and the overset grid technology. The Navier-Stokes equation in the arbitrary Lagrangian-Eulerian form is solved by coupling with the kinematics equation. Three cases are investigated: in a stationary position without deformation, a passive locomotion without deformation, and an active deformation based on the Kármán gait model. The results indicate that the fish body is acted by an alternating force and moment when it is located in the centerline of the vortex street. Furthermore, the fish could extract sufficient kinetic energy to overcome the drag under suitable conditions even when it keeps rigid and out of the suction zone. When the fish body undulates based on the Kármán gait model, the interaction is evidently shown between the fish body and the vortices. The theoretical analysis demonstrates that the lateral force and the moment acting on the fish body vary in a cosine formula, with the lateral translation and the body rotation as a result. This study focuses on the behavior of the fish body in the bluff cylinder wake and reproduces some phenomena observed in the experiments. Besides, the Kármán gait model is also theoretically analyzed, for the further exploration of the FSI mechanism in case of fish swimming.

The creation of hand gesture recognition approach, such as sign language applications, is crucial to bridging the communication gap with non-sign language users. This work proposes a novel approach to hand gesture detection with improved efficiency and accuracy through the use of sophisticated pre-processing, feature extraction, and classification algorithms. The suggested approach presents a robust image pre-processing technique called Window-aware guided image filtering, which smooths gesture images while maintaining edge details that are essential for feature extraction. After that, high-level discriminative features are extracted from gesture photos using ResNet-152, a deep convolutional neural network. In order to improve gesture classification even more, a Quantum Generative Adversarial Network (QGAN) is included. This network makes use of quantum computing to accelerate convergence and improve learning effectiveness. Furthermore, the Zebra Optimization (ZO) is utilized to optimize the QGAN model by fine-tuning the network parameters for enhanced recognition performance. This hybrid approach achieves superior accuracy, robustness, and speed, outperforming traditional hand gesture recognition systems. The presented approach gained the efficiency of around 99% for all recognition metrics. © 2024 IEEE.

Globally, per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS)–related research on paper products has focused on food packaging with less consideration on the presence of PFAS at different stages of the paper recycling chain. This study analysed the prevalence of PFAS in paper grades used for the manufacture of recycled paperboard. The presence of PFAS was attributed to the use of PFAS-containing additives, consumer usage, exposure to packed goods as well as contamination during mingling, sorting, collection, and recovery of paper recycling material. Q Orbitrap mass spectrometry was used to analyse the paper samples after accelerated solvent extraction and solid phase extraction. The distribution and possible propagation of 22 PFAS were determined in pre-consumer, retail and post-consumer paper products. Post-consumer samples had the highest combined average concentration (ΣPFAS) at 213 ng/g, while the ΣPFAS in retail (159 ng/g) and pre-consumer samples (121 ng/g) was detected at lower concentrations. This study showed that waste collection and recycling protocols may influence PFAS propagation and that measures must be developed to minimise and possibly eliminate exposure opportunities. © The Author(s) 2024.

The multi-UAV task allocation problem is a multi-constrained combined optimization *** obtain the best benefit of the problem,this paper establishes a task allocation model that matches the battlefield *** the path planning between UAV and target is completed *** real flight distance is used to replace the straight-line distance to realize the tight coupling of task allocation and path planning.A modified marine predator algorithm is proposed firstly in this paper to better solve the task allocation *** exploitation and exploration ability of the algorithm is enhanced by using a logarithmic spiral strategy and a Gaussian distribution estimation *** improved algorithm is then discretized and applied to solve the multi-UAV task allocation *** simulation results show that the use of the real flight distance instead of the straight-line distance can plan a more reasonable task execution sequence and get a better combat profit under the consideration of the real terrain and various types of *** improved algorithm can solve the model stably and effectively,with better solution accuracy and faster convergence speed.
