He is currently a Director and Vice President of the company. He received an OHM Technology Award in 1971 and an Achievement Award from the I.E.E. Japan in 1992. Graduated in 1962 from the Department of Electrical Engineering Shibaura Institute of Technology and joined Chubu Electric Power Co. in the same year. He is engaged in the development of technology for large-scale centralized control of power systems as well as the networking of control computers. He is currently a System Analysis Group Chief in the System Operation Division of the company. Graduated in 1985 from the Department of Electronics and Electrical Engineering of the Faculty of Engineering Tokyo Institute of Technology and joined Chubu Electric Power Co. in the same year. He is engaged mainly in the development of technology for power system protection and stabilization. He is currently working in the System Analysis Group of the System Operation Division of the company. His group provides analytic support for a variety of AT&T's information management systems telecommunications systems and networks and computer networks in the areas of performance engineering capacity planning and congestion management. His group also conducts research in integrated communication systems and networks. Recent work has concentrated on frame relay networks ATMibroadband ISDN wireless networking and PCS. The focus is in the areas of error controls flow and congestion controls communication protocols routeing strategies network design and fault-tolerant operation. Bharat's research interests include queueing theory and teletraffic theory and their applications to computer and communications systems. He has over sixty publications in a variety of technical journals. Bharat received his B.Tech. from ITT Bombay in 1970 and an M.S. and Ph.D. in Operations Research from Cornell University in 1973 and 1974 respectively. Bharat is member of IEEE and ORSA and Associate Editor of the OR Letters High Speed Networking and Queueing Systems Journals.

He is a member of the Royal Corps of Naval Constructors and has spent his career in submarine and surface ship design and procurement projects. He graduated from UCL in 1970 and obtained his MSc in Naval Architecture in 1971. During his tour year appointment to UCL as Lecturer in Naval Architecture he obtained his PhD in Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering for his thesis ‘Synthesis in Ship Design’ in 1984. From 1986 to 1990 he was the Warship Project Manager for the Royal Navy's Replacement Amphibious Programme (LPD and LPH) and for the Aviation Training Ship (RFA ARGUS) as well as the in-service Steam Powered Warships Group. Before returning to UCL in 1993 he was the Head of Preliminary Design in the Future Projects Directorate where he was responsible for studies into future submarines and surface ships including unconventional hull forms. At UCL he directs the naval architecture undergraduate and MSc courses whilst heading up the Naval Architecture Research Group's programmes in computer aided preliminary design trimaran research combat system integration and ship design methodology. He is a Chartered Engineer and Fellow of the Royal Institution of Naval Architects for whom he Chairs the Membership Committee and is a Member of Council and the Executive Committee

Stewart McDowall was born in Dublin Republic of Ireland in 1967. He received the M. Eng. degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from the Queen's University of Belfast in 1990. In the same year he was presented with a Distinction Award from the Departmnet of Education of Northern Ireland and he is currently pursuing his Ph.D. in the Microwave Research Group at Q.U.B. His principal research area is the electromagnetic field mapping of microwave systems using concurrent programming. He is an Associate Member of the Institute of Electrical Engineers. Vincent F. Fusco was educated at the Queens's University of Belfast where he obtained the degree of Ph.D. in 1982. He has worked as a research engineer on short-range radar and radio telemetry systems. Currently he is a reader in Microwave Communications in the School of Electrical engineering and Computer Science the Queen's University of Belfast. His current research interests include non-linear microwave circuit simulatino and concurrent programming techniques for electromagnetic field problems with particular emphasis on EMC applications. He has published numerous research papers in these areas. He is the author of the bookMicrowave Circuits Analysis and Computer Aided Design Prentice-Hall 1987. Dr Fusco is a Chartered Electrical Engineer and a Member of the Institute of Electrical Engineers.

In 1962 he joined Siemens starting in Corporate R and D. There he established the microelectronics activities and left in 1916 as Research Section Head to become Head of Siemens Components Development. In 1981 he took over the responsibility for discrete semiconductor operations. He has been Head of Central Laboratories/Advanced Development Department of the Public Communication Networks Group since 1991. Gernot von der Straten received a master's degree in Computer Science from the Technical University of Munich (FRG) in 1983 and a Ph.D. in 1987. He then joined the Central Laboratories of the Public Communication Networks Group of Siemens AG. In 1988 he joined the Commission of the European Communities as a project officer at the RACE Central Office where he was responsible for research projects in the areas of customer access networks and customer premises networks. Since 1993 he has held the position of manager of systems engineering with the Advanced Development Department including the areas of all optical networks ATM access networks and high speed ATM switching networks. Karl Heinz Mwhrmann received his degree in engineering (Dip1.-Ing.) in 1965 from the Technical University of Karlsruhe (FRG). He then joined Siemens AG in Munich and worked in various areas including source encoding and transmission systems.
