Microservice Architecture (MSA) denotes an emerging architectural style for distributed and service-based systems whereby each microservice is highly cohesive and implements a single business capability. A microservice system consists of multiple, loosely coupled microservices. It provides complex capabilities through services interacting in choreographies. A single dedicated team, typically practicing DevOps, is responsible for each microservice, i.e., it "owns" the service. However, while systems relying on MSA have several architectural advantages especially for cloud applications, their realization is characterized by an increased accidental complexity due to redundant handcrafting of implementation, e.g., to make each service standalone runnable. A promising way to cope with such complexity is the usage of Model-driven Development (MDD) whereby models are used as first-class entities in the software development process. Although there are already first steps taken on how MDD could be applied by a single team to implement its microservices, the question of how MDD can be adapted to MSA's development distribution across multiple teams remains an issue. In this paper we envision the application of Collaborative Model-driven software engineering (CMDSE) to MDD of MSA by surveying relevant characteristics of CMDSE and identifying challenges for its application to MSA. τ-FPL: Tolerance-constrained learning in linear time

Learning a classifier with control on the false-positive rate plays a critical role in many machine learning applications. Existing approaches either introduce prior knowledge dependent label cost or tune parameters based on traditional classifiers, which lack consistency in methodology because they do not strictly adhere to the false-positive rate constraint. In this paper, we propose a novel scoring-thresholding approach, τ -False Positive Learning (τ - FPL) to address this problem. We show the scoring problem which takes the false-positive rate tolerance into accounts can be efficiently solved in linear time, also an out-of-bootstrap thresholding method can transform the learned ranking function into a low false-positive classifier. Both theoretical analysis and experimental results show superior performance of the proposed τ -FPL over existing approaches. Copyright © 2018, The Authors. All rights reserved.

We show that simple, commercially sourced n-channel silicon field-effect transistors (nFETs) operating under closed loop control exhibit an;«3-fold improvement in pH readout resolution to (7.2±0.3)×10-3at a bandwidth of 10 Hz when compared with the open loop operation commonly employed by integrated ion-sensitive field-effect transistors (ISFETs). We leveraged the improved nFET performance to measure the change in solution pH arising from the activity of a pathological form of the kinase Cdk5, an enzyme implicated in Alzheimer's disease, and showed quantitative agreement with previous measurements. The improved pH resolution was realized while the devices were operated in a remote sensing configuration with the pH sensing element off-chip and connected electrically to the FET gate terminal. We compared these results with those measured by using a custom-built dual-gate 2D field-effect transistor (dg2DFET) fabricated with 2D semi-conducting MoS2 channels and a moderate device gain, a=8. Under identical solution conditions the pH resolution of the nFETs was only 2-fold worse than the dg2DFETs pH resolution of (3.9±0.7)×10-3. Finally, using the nFETs, we demonstrated the effectiveness of a custom polypeptide, p5, as a therapeutic agent in restoring the function of Cdk5. We expect that the straight-forward modifications to commercially sourced nFETs demonstrated here will lower the barrier to widespread adoption of these remote-gate devices and enable sensitive bioanalytical measurements for high throughput screening in drug discovery and precision medicine applications. The proximity between physical and cyber worlds is permitting the appearance of Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS), formed by users and devices (physical) interacting with services, components and applications (cyber). In CPS, where unpredictability is an important challenge, two characteristics must be present in the developed systems: i) low coupling among interacting modules and ii) self-adaptive capabilities. In that direction, this paper describes an uncoupled sensor and actuator component-based infrastructure for self adaptive CPS. Its main contribution is two-fold: i) a lightweight and interoperable mechanism to specify and manage sensors and actuators, built on top of an ii) uncoupled communication and coordination mechanism for cyberphysical entities. © 2016 ACM.

Diabetes alone does not affect the health, but its complications always bring danger to people’s health. To avoid the development of diabetes and posterior to discover diabetes, checking blood glucose level is an effective way. The development of glucose screening measurements is introduced. Non-invasive glucose monitor methods, as accurate, safe, convenient and comfortable methods, are also illustrated and compared in this paper. Also, an Intelligent dynamic health inspection is designed with a proposed non-invasion glucose monitor measurement.

Traffic hotline discovery is necessary for rational and scientific urban transportation planning in the new living quarters and economic zones. Cloud of Things (CoT) is a newly emerging concept, involving with two advanced technologies, that is, Cloud Computing and Internet of Things (IoT). CoT provides promising opportunities for traffic hotline discovery. However, it is still a challenge to discover the traffic hotlines over CoT. In view of this challenge, a hotline discovery method over CoT by using big taxi GPS data is proposed in this paper. Specifically, a traffic hotline discovery principle is presented to provide a reference standard for the generalized traffic spots that need planning, and a corresponding hotline discovery method is proposed for traffic hotspot identification and hotline selection. To improve the scalability and efficiency of the proposed method in "Big Data" environment, the SAP HANA cloud is applied to implement the proposed method under two application scenarios. Cooperative localization has emerged as a promising technique which can complement or even replace global positioning systems (GPS) in many practical scenarios, such as GPS-denied environments. In this paper, we concentrate on the distributed cooperative localization design. The conventional distributed cooperative localization approaches usually yield high computational complexity and communication overhead, due to the lack of an efficient link selection mechanism. For this purpose, we propose a novel concept named opportunistic cooperative localization, based on which each agent is able to select the most informative links rather than utilize all the possible links in a distributed, self-organized, and self-optimized manner. To achieve effective opportunistic selection, overlapping coalition formation (OCF) game is employed. In addition, we also provide an optimized terminating criterion, based on which the agents will be able to know whether and when they are well localized, and thus can terminate their localization procedure efficiently. Through simulations, we observe that by virtue of the proposed OCF game based opportunistic cooperative localization scheme along with the provided terminating criterion, the limitations of conventional distributed cooperative localization can be alleviated at the cost of negligible performance degradation. © 1972-2012 IEEE.

In the year of 2017, more and more datacenters have started to replace traditional SATA and SAS SSDs with NVMe SSDs due to NVMe's outstanding performance [1]. However, for historical reasons, current popular deployments of NVMe in VM-hypervisor-based platforms (such as VMware ESXi [2]) have numbers of intermediate queues along the I/O stack. As a result, performance is bottlenecked by synchronization locks in these queues, cross-VM interference induces I/O latency, and most importantly, up-to-64K-queue capability of NVMe SSDs cannot be fully utilized. In this paper, we developed a hybrid framework of NVMe-based storage system called 'H-NVMe', which provides two VM I/O stack deployment modes 'Parallel Queue Mode' and 'Direct Access Mode'. The first mode increases parallelism and enables lock-free operations by implementing local lightweight queues in the NVMe driver. The second mode further bypasses the entire I/O stack in the hypervisor layer and allows trusted user applications whose hosting VMDK (Virtual Machine Disk) files are attached with our customized vSphere IOFilters [3] to directly access NVMe SSDs to improve the performance isolation. This suits premium users who have higher priorities and the permission to attach IOFilter to their VMDKs. H-NVMe is implemented on VMware EXSi 6.0.0, and our evaluation results show that the proposed H-NVMe framework can significant improve throughputs and bandwidths compared to the original inbox NVMe solution. © 2017 IEEE.

In the year of 2017, the capital expenditure of Flash-based Solid State Drivers (SSDs) keeps declining and the storage capacity of SSDs keeps increasing. As a result, the 'selling point' of traditional spinning Hard Disk Drives (HDDs) as a backend storage - low cost and large capacity - is no longer unique, and eventually they will be replaced by low-end SSDs which have large capacity but perform orders of magnitude better than HDDs. Thus, it is widely believed that all-flash multi-tier storage systems will be adopted in the enterprise datacenters in the near future. However, existing caching or tiering solutions for SSD-HDD hybrid storage systems are not suitable for all-flash storage systems. This is because that all-flash storage systems do not have a large speed difference (e.g., 10x) among each tier. Instead, different specialties (such as high performance, high capacity, etc.) of each tier should be taken into consideration. Motivated by this, we develop an automatic data placement manager called 'AutoTiering' to handle virtual machine disk files (VMDK) allocation and migration in an all-flash multitier datacenter to best utilize the storage resource, optimize the performance, and reduce the migration overhead. AutoTiering is based on an optimization framework, whose core technique is to predict VM's performance change on different tiers with different specialties without conducting real migration. As far as we know, AutoTiering is the first optimization solution designed for all-flash multi-tier datacenters. We implement AutoTiering on VMware ESXi [1], and experimental results show that it can significantly improve the I/O performance compared to existing solutions. © 2017 IEEE.
