In mobile systems, memory can be compressed page-by-page to save space. This approach is widely adopted because memory data is accessed by page. However, this paper shows that the system response speed is significantly limited by page-grained compression. In this paper, we observe that approximately a quarter of anonymous memory pages are highly correlated, even though the association is implicit. Inspired by this, we propose Archer, an association-rule-aware memory compression framework in mobile systems. Archer demonstrates that memory in mobile devices should be compressed using flexible granularity, rather than relying solely on traditional page compression. To further integrate association-rule mining techniques into system design, we redesign the LRU mechanism and propose an adaptive memory compression region. Experimental results show that the average app launching speed is 1.55x faster when enabling Archer, and the average photographic speed and frame rate increase by 1.42x and 1.31x, respectively, compared to the state-of-the-art. © 2025 FAST. Strong linearizability is a variant of linearizability and is more suitable for verification. In this paper we investigate the following two problems: (1) for which deterministic sequential specifications there exist linearizable but not strongly linearizable objects;(2) can we capture any violation scheme of strong linearizability for practical objects that are linearizable but not strongly linearizable. To deal with the first problem, we propose two classes of deterministic sequential specifications called inclusively-permutative sequential specifications and exclusively-permutative sequential specifications. The first class of sequential specifications contains sequential specifications of counter, register, max-register, snapshot, set, queue, stack and priority queue. The second class of sequential specifications contains sequential specifications of blocking queue, blocking stack and blocking priority queue. To establish these results, we propose a uniform methodology to construct a wait-free, linearizable but not strongly linearizable object for these two classes of sequential specifications. Our universal construction is based on the classical universal construction, and it additionally permits each operation to change the "take-effect-order" of previous operations. To deal with the second problem, we use bi-branch distinguishable executions to represent violations of strong linearizability. We investigate eight objects that are linearizable but not strongly linearizable, and we show that for each object, it has a pair of bi-branch distinguishable executions such that our universal construction can generate another pair of bi-branch distinguishable executions with the same set of histories. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2025.

Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) have become increasingly popular in recent years, with a wide range of applications in areas such as surveying, delivery, and security. UAV technology plays an important role in human life. Integrating Artificial Intelligence (AI) techniques into UAVs can significantly enhance their capabilities and performance. After the integration of AI in UAVs, their efficiency can be improved. It can automatically detect any object and highlight those objects with detailed information using AI. In most of the security surveillance places, UAV technology is beneficial. In this paper, we comprehensively reviewed the most widely used UAV communication protocols, including Wi-Fi, Zigbee, and Long-Range Wi-Fi (LoRaWAN). The review further explores valuable insights into the strengths and weaknesses of these protocols and how cognitive abilities such as perceptions and decision-making can be incorporated into UAV systems for autonomy. This paper provides a comprehensive overview of the state-of-the-art UAV object detection in remote sensing environments, as well as its types and use cases in different applications. It highlights the potential applications of these techniques in various domains, such as wildlife monitoring, search and rescue operations, and surveillance. The challenges and limitations of these methods and open research issues are given for future research. © 2024

The diversity of the Internet of Things (IoT) poses challenges to privacy protection, especially in the field of digital forensics. How to ensure that only the private information of the suspect is provided, and not the irrelevant information of other users is disclosed is crucial, especially when obtaining evidence in the complex IoT environment. To the best of our knowledge, there are few studies on protecting the privacy of irrelevant users in the IoT forensics. However, it is very important to ensure that the evidence does not violate the privacy of other users when collecting evidence, because it directly determines whether the evidence is legal and whether it can be admissible in court. In this paper, a new method based on data provenance graph is designed to solve the privacy protection problem of IoT forensics. The key idea of this method is to protect privacy by dividing multi-user information and protecting it from an encryption perspective. The method consists of three main phrases: distinguishing different users' data provenance graphs using traversal search, node abstraction, and hiding techniques, utilizing pseudo-random dual-key negotiation methods tailored for the scenario to enhance privacy protection for unrelated users, and employing identity authentication technology to facilitate better investigation and extraction of data provenance graph information of criminal accomplices in specific scenarios. Example proves that this method has practical significance and promising application prospects in protecting the privacy of unrelated users in IoT forensics while ensuring evidence accessibility in special criminal scenarios. © 2024 IEEE.

Prediction of the Pore-Pressure Built-Up and Temperature of Fire-Loaded Concrete with Pix2Pix

Concrete subjected to fire loads is susceptible to explosive spalling, which can lead to the exposure of reinforcingsteel bars to the fire, substantially jeopardizing the structural safety and stability. The spalling of fire-loaded concreteis closely related to the evolution of pore pressure and temperature. Conventional analytical methods involve theresolution of complex, strongly coupled multifield equations, necessitating significant computational efforts. Torapidly and accurately obtain the distributions of pore-pressure and temperature, the Pix2Pix model is adoptedin this work, which is celebrated for its capabilities in image generation. The open-source dataset used hereinfeatures RGB images we generated using a sophisticated coupled model, while the grayscale images encapsulate the15 principal variables influencing spalling. After conducting a series of tests with different layers configurations,activation functions and loss functions, the Pix2Pix model suitable for assessing the spalling risk of fire-loadedconcrete has been meticulously designed and trained. The applicability and reliability of the Pix2Pix model inconcrete parameter prediction are verified by comparing its outcomes with those derived fromthe strong couplingTHC model. Notably, for the practical engineering applications, our findings indicate that utilizing monochromeimages as the initial target for analysis yields more dependable results. This work not only offers valuable insightsfor civil engineers specializing in concrete structures but also establishes a robust methodological approach forresearchers seeking to create similar predictive models.

Despite the significant improvements achieved by large language models (LLMs) in English reasoning tasks, these models continue to struggle with multilingual reasoning. Recent studies leverage a full-parameter and two-stage training paradigm to teach models to first understand non-English questions and then reason. However, this method suffers from both substantial computational resource computing and catastrophic forgetting. The fundamental cause is that, with the primary goal of enhancing multilingual comprehension, an excessive number of irrelevant layers and parameters are tuned during the first stage. Given our findings that the representation learning of languages is merely conducted in lower-level layers, we propose an efficient multilingual reasoning alignment approach that precisely identifies and fine-tunes the layers responsible for handling multilingualism. Experimental results show that our method, SLAM, only tunes 6 layers' feed-forward sub-layers including 6.5−8% of all parameters within 7B and 13B LLMs, achieving superior average performance than all strong baselines across 10 languages. Meanwhile, SLAM only involves one training stage, reducing training time by 4.1 − 11.9× compared to the two-stage method. © 2025 Association for Computational Linguistics.

Personality recognition is of great significance in deepening the understanding of social relations. While personality recognition methods have made significant strides in recent years, the challenge of heterogeneity between modalities during feature fusion still needs to be solved. This paper introduces an adaptive multi-modal information fusion network (AMIF-Net) capable of concurrently processing video, audio, and text data. First, utilizing the AMIF-Net encoder, we process the extracted audio and video features separately, effectively capturing long-term data relationships. Then, adding adaptive elements in the fusion network can alleviate the problem of heterogeneity between modes. Lastly, we concatenate audio-video and text features into a regression network to obtain Big Five personality trait scores. Furthermore, we introduce a novel loss function to address the problem of training inaccuracies, taking advantage of its unique property of exhibiting a peak at the critical mean. Our tests on the ChaLearn First Impressions V2 multi-modal dataset show partial performance surpassing state-of-the-art networks. © 2024 John Wiley & Sons Ltd.

With the gradual development in industrialization, the advent of computer and information technology has evolved in the field of engineering and construction industry. BIM technology has become a valuable part of prefabricated concrete engineering with the advancement of modern technology based on 3D modeling simulation. In order to realize the industrialization and automation of prefabricated concrete structures, this paper analyzes the characteristics of fabricated concrete structure and BIM, combining the two techniques. This work applies BIM to fabricated concrete design and chooses finite element analysis and calculation software ETABS to analyze the structure model. The results show that the mass participation ratio of the model studied in this paper reaches more than 90%, the interlayer displacement angle is less than 1/550, and the modal and shell internal force analysis results meet the requirements. In this paper, modal analysis, shell internal force analysis under live load and structural dynamic analysis under response spectrum load conditions were carried out on the ETABS model converted from the Revit model and the model directly established by ETABS. The ETABS model converted from the Revit model by the data interface plug-in can be used for structural analysis. © 2023, CAD Solutions, LLC. All rights reserved.

Text-Image Scene Graph Fusion for Multimodal Named Entity Recognition

With the popularity and widespread use of social media platforms, such as Twitter and Facebook, massive amounts of text and image information posted by a variety of users have flooded these social media platforms. Thus, multimodal named entity recognition (MNER) has become a research hotspot for the task of extracting named entities from multimodal data. Empirically, the visual clues unrelated to text data may introduce uncertain or even negative impacts on the named entity recognition. The considerations of the relevance of multimodal data have been ignored in the previous studies. In this article, to effectively measure the relationship between text data and visual cues for improving the accuracy of named entities, we propose a text-image scene graph fusion (TISGF) approach with a text-image similarity assessment module (TISA) and a text-image fusion module (TIF) for MNER. Specifically, we first construct two (visual and textual) scene graphs to exploit the joint features of objects and relations in text and image and encode the two scene graphs separately using a specific encoder pair. In this way, we can obtain both object-level and relationship-level cross-modal features. Subsequently, TISA is used to compute the similarity of the image and text data and to determine the proportion of visual information that will be retained for fusion. Finally, we use TIF to achieve a unified multimodal representation of each word and predict the entity type using conditional random fields. Extensive experiment results on two public datasets demonstrate the effectiveness and competitiveness of our proposed method for the MNER task. © 2020 IEEE.
