RAMANUJAN’S TAU FUNCTION AS SUMS OVER PARTITIONS

Ramanujan’s tau function arises as the coefficient of qn in the q-expansion of the Dedekind eta function, which is a modular form of weight 1/2. This con-nection to modular forms gives the Ramanujan tau function many interesting properties and relationships with various areas of mathematics, including number theory, combinatorics, and algebraic geometry. This paper presents a collection of decompositions of the Ramanujan tau function expressed as sums over partitions. © 2024, Politechnica University of Bucharest. All rights reserved.

This paper presents the design of an environmentally friendly assembly aimed at optimizing the transportation and in-situ operation of a custom laser-induced fluorescence (LIF) system developed by INOE 2000. Currently the system performs optimally under laboratory conditions, but it faces limitations for in-situ operation. However, given that LIF is a non-destructive technique with significant potential for remote in-situ analysis, expanding its usability for field-based applications is crucial. To enable seamless transport and operation both inside and outside the laboratory, an assembly was specifically designed to incorporate the LIF system’s optical and optomechanical components, housed in customized enclosures designed for efficiency and protection. © 2025, Politechnica University of Bucharest. As a result of increasing water consumption by pharmaceutical industries, hospitals, and the population, large volumes of liquids discharges containing pharmaceutical compounds have been generated worldwide. Even though there is a consistent contribution on the sustainable management of these contaminants, the efforts to reduce this pollution are progressing on a rather small scale. Such pollutants can be introduced into water-receiving bodies either directly, through animal and human excretions, or through unregulated disposal and anthropogenic activities, resulting in their presence in small amounts in aqueous systems. Even if they are in small amounts these classes of contaminants are persistent or partially degraded during treatment processes and thus may cause adverse effects on human and animal health as a result of bioaccumulation. This paper summarizes the main aspects referring to quantification of pharmaceutical waste from both drinkable and industrial waters in order to provide efficient solutions to counteract their negative impact on environment and human health. © 2024 International Multidisciplinary Scientific Geoconference. The inclusion-exclusion principle together with Legendre type theorems for number of distinct restricted partitions weighted by the parity of their length are used to give several recurrence relations for restricted partition numbers as well as for overpartition numbers. In the case of overpartitions, POD partitions and 3-color partitions, we give combinatorial proofs for the Legendre type theorems and arrive to combinatorial proofs for the recurrence relations. © 2025, Politechnica University of Bucharest. The investigation examines the behavior of a relativistic particle in the field of a Gaussian laser pulse in 3+1 dimensions through an approach based on the method of coupled parameters within Lobachevsky geometry. The dynamics of an electron in a modulated laser pulse (in terms of amplitude, phase, and polarization) are analyzed, and the optimal conditions for phase synchronization of particle acceleration in an intense laser field of 1022 W/cm2 are determined. The role of a constant homogeneous magnetic field in stabilizing trajectories and enhancing the directed radiation of particles, including polarization and synchrotron effects, is investigated. Special attention is given to the spectral characteristics of radiation and the angular distribution of power, paving the way for the development of efficient radiation sources in high-energy physics and laser technologies. The generalized quadratic assignment problem (GQAP) poses a significant challenge in optimization, known for its NP-hard complexity and wide-ranging applications in supply chain and manufacturing contexts. While various metaheuristic algorithms have addressed the GQAP, this paper introduces a novel modification of the genetic algorithm (GA), namely the genetic engineering algorithm (GEA). A traditional GA initializes the population of solutions randomly and refines these solutions iteratively through crossover and mutation operators. However, its reliance on randomness often leads to premature convergence, susceptibility to local optima, and suboptimal solutions at termination of the algorithmic run. To address these drawbacks, our research presents a modified GA framework inspired by genetic engineering principles. This framework introduces novel search mechanisms mimicking gene mining processes, targeting population enhancement through insertion, purification, and genetic material exchange from elite solutions. The GEA adds three search scenarios to the traditional GA framework to exhibit desired characteristics from chromosomes, enhancing solution quality and convergence speed. This GEA demonstrates a superior performance across various search scenarios against state-of-the-art algorithms and exact solutions for the benchmark instances of the GQAP. Additionally, this study conducts comprehensive sensitivity analyses on the search scenarios of the GEA. By employing gene mining strategies, the proposed GEA offers promising solutions for effectively addressing the NP-hard optimization challenges of the GQAP on large-scale datasets. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer-Verlag London Ltd., part of Springer Nature 2025.

3D microgels with various mechanical properties have been important platforms tumor metastasis analysis,and widely adjustable stiffness is crucial for deeper ***,by mixing biodegradable polylactic acid(PLA)nanofibers in the modified alginate with different concentrations of Ca^(2+),we significantly enhance the stiffness range of microgels while retaining the pore size,which provides bionic microenvironment for tumor *** a proof of concept,we simulated the mechanical characteristics of breast tumors by encapsulating cells in 3D microgels with diverse stiffness,and analyzed cellular behaviors of two typical breast cancer cell lines:MCF-7 and *** showed that with the addition of 2.0%(w/v)PLA short nanofibers,the Young’s modulus of modified alginate increased more than *** preserving high survival and proliferation rates,both cells also displayed stronger migration ability in soft microgel spheres,where RT-qPCR analysis revealed the underlying changes at the genetic *** systematic study demonstrated our method is powerful for creating widely adjustable 3D mechanical microenvironment,and the results of cellular behavior analysis shows its promising application prospects in tumorigenesis and progression.

Effect of geopolitical risk and economic uncertainty indices on renewable energy

In this study,the relationships between five renewable energy sub-sectors markets and the geopolitical risk(GPR)and economic uncertainty indices(EUI)were examined using daily data from March 30,2012,to April 1,*** cross mapping results show that the renewable energy indices have definite relationships with the GPR and *** renewable energy indices show differences in response directions,speed and trends for a standard information difference impulse from the GPR and the EUI.A positive dynamic conditional correlation between renewable energies and EUI was observed in the first and second waves of the COVID-19 *** contrast,there was a relatively decreased effect for two risk indices during the Russia-Ukraine conflict of February-March *** results show that renewable energy may act as a time-varying hedge against economic uncertainty and GPR owing to its safehaven properties at various ***,building more secure and reliable renewable energy systems can help countries to increase their energy independence,which protects them against the risks of political and economic uncertainty.
