Introduction Despite the high response rates seen with Chimeric Antigen Receptor (CAR) T-cell therapy for relapsed/refractory Large B-cell lymphoma (R/R LBCL), post-therapy relapse remains a key challenge. To date, no study has evaluated the comparative efficacy and safety of experimental CAR T-cell products versus currently approved CAR T-cell therapies. Objective To indirectly compare the efficacy and safety of novel, experimental CAR T-cell products against the first FDA-approved CAR T-cell construct, Axicabtagene ciloleucel (Yescarta). Methods In compliance with the PRISMA guidelines, we performed a systematic review, which identified 16 independent, early-phase clinical trials consisting of 193 LBCL patients with individual patient data (IPD). We categorized eight pooled populations based on the target antigens (CD19, CD20), co-stimulatory domains (CD28, 4-1BB), and CAR T-cells administered with or without concomitant autologous stem cell transplant (ASCT). The pooled populations were categorized as follows: (1) dual targeting strategies, such as tandem ***20, n = 28; (2) co-infusion of CD19 and CD20 CARs, n = 21; (3) third-generation CARs, n = 26; (4) CD19 CARs with modified constructs for reduced toxicity, including ***.86, n = 21; and (5) ***828Z, n = 14; (6) CD19. 4-1BB.S manufactured in China, n = 24; (7) concomitant ASCT and ***28, n = 45; and (8) CD20 CARs with a 4-1BB co-stimulatory domain, n = 14. A Matching Adjusted Indirect Comparison (MAIC) statistical technique was applied to account for heterogeneity in the study population across trials. Estimates for the experimental CAR T-cell trials were adjusted using patient-level data to match the ZUMA-1 (Yescarta, n = 108) study population based on mutually reported key baseline covariates, including age, disease stage, histology, refractoriness, number of prior lines of therapy, and extranodal disease. In this paper, a cholera epidemic model with periodic transmission rate has been considered and discussed. It is shown that the disease free equilibrium point is globally asymptotically stable and also seen that the cholera disease is disappeared if the basic reproduction number is less than one. When the basic reproduction number is grater than one, then the endemic equilibrium is globally asymptotically stable. Finally, numerical simulations have been given for the existence of the analytical results. © 2015, Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg.

Contemporary simulation technology for neuronal networks enables the simulation of brain-scale networks using neuron models with a single or a few compartments. However, distributed simulations at full cell density are still lacking the electrical coupling between cells via so called gap junctions. This is due to the absence of efficient algorithms to simulate gap junctions on large parallel computers. The difficulty is that gap junctions require an instantaneous interaction between the coupled neurons, whereas the efficiency of simulation codes for spiking neurons relies on delayed communication. In a recent paper [15] we describe a technology to overcome this obstacle. Here, we give an overview of the challenges to include gap junctions into a distributed simulation scheme for neuronal networks and present an implementation of the new technology available in the NEural Simulation Tool (NEST 2.10.0). Subsequently we introduce the usage of gap junctions in model scripts as well as benchmarks assessing the performance and overhead of the technology on the supercomputers JUQUEEN and K computer. © Springer International Publishing AG 2016.

The Effect of Monetary Policy on Commodity Prices: Disentangling the Evidence for Individual Prices

We study the effect of monetary policy shocks on commodity prices. While most of the literature has found that expansionary shocks have a positive effect on aggregate price indices, we study the effect on individual prices of a sample of four commodities. This set of commodity prices is essential to understand the dynamics of the balance of payments in Colombia. The analysis is based on structural VAR models; we identify monetary policy shocks following Kim (1999, 2003) upon quarterly data for commodity prices and their fundamentals for the period from 1980q1 to 2010q3. Our results show that commodity prices overshoot their long run equilibrium in response to a contractionary shock in the US monetary policy and, in contrast with literature, the response of the individual prices considered is stronger than what has been found in aggregate indices. Additionally, it is found that the monetary policy explains a substantial share of the fluctuations in prices.

In this paper, we investigate how the diversity of nominal classifier ensembles affects the AdaBoost performance [13]. Using 5 real data sets from the UCI Machine Learning Repository and 3 different diversity measures, we show that Statistic measure is mostly correlated with AdaBoost performance for 2-class problems. The experimental results suggest that the performance of AdaBoost depend on the nominal classifier diversity that can be used as a stopping criteria in ensemble learning. © 2012 Springer-Verlag.

Background Development of excess adiposity has been hypothesised to originate in early life. Animal studies have shown that protein intake in pregnancy might influence offspring fat metabolism and adiposity. Macronutrient ratio in human pregnancy seems to be important for child blood pressure and glucose tolerance; less is known about the influence on offspring adiposity. We investigated the relation between maternal dietary protein intake during pregnancy and child anthropometric measures and biomarkers of adiposity and glucose metabolism. Methods We used a prospective cohort of 965 Danish pregnant women recruited in 1988–89 with offspring followed up at 20 years. This population was 80% of a consecutive sample of 1212 women carrying singletons and attending prenatal care in the city of Aarhus, Denmark. For the follow-up study, mothers were first informed about the study by mail and then the offspring were asked to fill out a web-based questionnaire and attend a clinical examination. Almost 95% (n=915) of mother–child pairs could be identified in the central registration. 690 of the offspring filled out the questionnaire and 443 participated in the clinical examination. Macronutrient intake was collected in gestational week 30, and we divided protein according to source (animal, vegetable including cereals). Offspring body-mass index (BMI) and waist circumference were recorded at follow-up (n=696), and biomarkers were quantified in a subset (n=443) of participants. We used multivariable linear and logistic regression to calculate effect estimates and 95% CIs for a 1:1 substitution of protein for carbohydrates in percent energy. All models were adjusted for maternal energy intake, maternal age, maternal education, parity, maternal pre-pregnancy BMI, maternal smoking during pregnancy, and sibling overweight. We accounted for missing data by the missing indicator method because the covariates were poorly correlated with the exposure and were therefore weak confounders

The multi-source information holds a great importance in processing complex and imprecise data. Unfortunately, it requires an adequate formalism capable to modelize and to fuse several information. The evidence theory distinguishes from all formalism by its capacity to modelize and treat imprecise and imperfect data. In this context, the high resolution images represent a huge amount of data and needs multi-source information to perform pattern recognition. In this paper, we present an adaption of the distance operator introduced by Denoeux for estimating belief functions. This proposed approach will be used to classify forest image remote sensing by identifying the tree crown classes. © 2011 IEEE.
