Geospatial analysis of the distribution of the Megalithic to colonial cultural features at the Karangsambung-Karangbolong National Geopark, Kebumen, Indonesia and its surrounding area

The Karangsambung-Karangbolong National Geopark, Kebumen, Indonesia, and its surrounding area contain numerous cultural sites. Such cultural sites are generally located not only for cultural reasons but also for geological conditions and geodiversity. We examine the relationships in space between these sites and the geology and geomorphology. There are 11 Megalithic era cultural sites, 12 Hindi - Buddist sites, 31 Islamic sites, and 83 colonial sites in the research area. We look at the geospatial distribution of the sites concerning seven geological criteria: lithology, elevation, slope, landscape, mining materials, distance from rivers and groundwater using an overlay process using Geographical Information System applications. The geospatial analysis of site distribution allowed us to find that the leading choice for site location was on alluvial deposits. Mining potential was not a significant correlation to site placement. Elevation (<50 m) and slope (<7%) were the primary choices in all areas. Fluvial landscapes were the top landscape type, followed by denudational landscapes. Most sites are located less than 750 m from a river and underlain with large productive aquifers. Combined geological and cultural research can strengthen a site's meaning and significance if carried out spatially so that the main geological parameters that influence the formation of the culture of an area can be identified. The main benefit is knowing the relationship between geological and cultural diversity so that it can be used in geotourism development, site assessment, and geopark management. Locations that need to be followed up for management and local government include a group of sites in the Gombong sub-district (mainly K-58, along with others such as K-59, K-60, K-61, K-52, K-64, K-65, K-67, K-68, K-69, K- 70, K-71, K-72), Rowokele sub-district (especially M-1, M-2, K-81, others K-79, and K-80), Ayah sub-district (HB-2), Buayan sub-district (M-9, HB-9), Karanganyar sub-distri

Introduction: The spread of the COVID-19 virus requires unprecedented steps from the government such as the restriction of travelers and activities and enforcement of social distancing to reduce interaction between individuals. This led to a drastic decrease in tourist visits to the TN-BTS between January and December 2020 with the area reported having been closed between April-July. Meanwhile, there was an inadequate transportation system at a tourist destination area before the pandemic and that made the movement more difficult during the pandemic. Therefore, this research is focused on describing transportation modes integration in the East java-Indonesia TN-BTS area during this period. Methods: The intermodal integration was represented through the community's preference which was based on certain elements such as the need for connecting mode, main mode, multimodal network, transitional facilities, switching facilities with different networks, schedules integration, tariffs, routes, and times. Results and Discussion: The survey conducted, however, showed these indicators are below expectation as observed with the community satisfaction with transportation integration in the TN-BTS area measured to be very low, below 60%, using the Customer Satisfaction Index (CSI) tool. Moreover, the expectations on the variables for intermodal integration were also measured using Important Performance Analysis (IPA). Conclusion: The findings showed the policymakers and planners need to take steps to encourage the realization of transportation integration in the TN-BTS area to develop tourism in the area. © 2022 Priyambodo et al.

Geopark has three main components: geological, biological, and cultural diversity. Cultural and biological diversity in geoparks does not stand alone but must be related to geological diversity. This study aims to determine the relationship between seven geological criteria (lithology, mining materials, elevation, slope, landscape, river distance, and groundwater/geohydrology) on the formation of culture in the Megalithic, Hindu-Buddhist, Islamic, and Colonial eras in the Karangsambung-Karangbolong Geopark and surrounding area. The analytical method used is a scoring and weighting process using Analytical Hierarchy Processes (AHP). Based on AHP analysis, many relationships exist between culture formation and geological conditions. In the early stages of cultural formation during the Megalithic and Hindu-Buddhist eras, the influence of geological criteria was more dominant than that in the Islamic and Colonial eras. In the Megalithic era, groundwater had an effect of 32.38%, with the main sub-criteria being wide productive aquifers, while river distance had an impact of 28.31%, especially at river distances less than 50 m. The very well-suited area correlated with the geological condition and had the highest percentage (29.03%). In the Hindu-Buddhist era, groundwater conditions influenced 36.05%, mainly due to the wide productive aquifer as a sub-criterion, while the distance of the river had an effect of 25.78%, especially when the river's length was less than 50 m. The percentage of the very well-suited area was 27.47%. The elevation criteria had a 34.68% influence in the Islamic era, especially at elevations <5 m. Mining material criteria influenced 24.34%. The level of very well-suited areas was 14.45%. The geomorphology had the most significant influence (37.17%) in the Colonial era, especially in the fluvial and marine landscapes. Mining materials had the second influence (24.18%). The very good suitability area accounted for 25.54%. © 2024 Elsevier B.V.

Potential of rural areas in coffee development with three level product analysis

The purpose of the study is to find out the results of mapping rural areas as the formation of an integrated embryo, analyzing the potential that can be standardized as superior rural areas referring to applicable regulations. The study uses a qualitative descriptive technique that emphasizes the observation of phenomena and examines the substance of the meaning of the phenomenon. The study locus in Grabag District, Magelang Regency, was carried out from March to September 2021. The study sample came from coffee farmers in Grabag District. The technique of collecting data and information in this study uses library research techniques and documentation focused on the study. Data analysis using Three Level Product. The superior product in the form of coffee is the core product that can be developed into an actual product in the form of a coffee business and technology center in Magelang Regency; and additional products in the form of integration of coffee production, education, and marketing in business and technology organizations. The analysis used can show that the product is stratified and product development is carried out through business organizations and technology to increase the capacity and ability of coffee producers in Magelang Regency.

Infrastructure development, especially roads, is hampered by the fact of rejection based on urgency and attachment to the Ulayat land of the local community. Therefore, further models are needed in the form of mitigation based on culture and local wisdom to avoid conflicts and land disputes and changes in their use. This study aims to identify the social impacts of the bypass Amor Road construction and its mitigation strategies based on the perceptions of the community and stakeholders. This research study uses a descriptive qualitative research method. Data collection techniques were carried out through documentation studies, observation, and in-depth interviews. The data analysis technique was carried out using SIA (social impact analysis). SIA helps the community, government, and private sector to better understand and anticipate possible social problems and the changes they bring about as a result of the construction of the bypass Amor road. The results of the study conclude that the success of road construction depends on the government's mitigation strategy in adopting local values that live in the community which is then followed by the existence of a foundation and expansion of the fulfilment of community interests. This study recommends three things, namely, (1) conduct intensive and responsive socialization and approach;(2) approach community involvement through a community-based approach and traditional leaders;and (3) prepare alternative livelihoods based on community interest, local potential, market opportunities, and financial feasibility as well as providing capital for businesses. © 2022 Priyambodo et al.

Malaka is a wild plant that generally grows in subtropical and tropical regions including India, Thailand, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, China and Indonesia. In Indonesia, this plant found disjunct in java, Ternate and North Sumatra. Malacca seed is known as traditional medicine for diabetes, cancer, liver, ulcers and anemia. People in South Tapanuli also used the leaf as traditional food ingredients. Information regarding to distribution and habitat of Malacca in North Sumatra is still quite limited. Therefore our research aims to determine the population structure and malacca association in Padang Bolak Julu. The population structure and plant species associations were conducted through vegetation analysis by purposive sampling and the association is calculated using the Ochiai, Dice, and Jackard index values. The results showed that the malaka IVI at the level of seedlings, saplings, poles and trees were 150.35, 131.83, 112.04 and 102.23, respectively. Malaka plants are high association patterns and positively associated with P. obovatum in the location. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Cotylelobium lanceolatum Craib and Cotylelobium melanoxylon Pierre or locally known as raru are trees used as ingredients for traditional Batak drinks called "tuak". Destructive and uncontrolled harvesting of raru leads to a decline in its population and genetic diversity. Morphological distinctions for C. melanoxylon and C. lanceolatum have been conducted even though there are some weaknesses of this identification, thus molecular based marker are tools which is preferred for solved the problem. However, an appropriate DNA isolation method is basic and important step for molecular studies to obtain high-quality genomic DNA so that further analysis can proceed. Therefore, our study focused to obtain the successful DNA isolation method using the modified CTAB (Cetyl Trimethyl Ammonium Bromide) method and its amplification on three candidate of DNA barcodes i.e. trnL-trnF, trnH-psbA, ITS1-ITS4. In total six genomic DNA were isolated from the silica-gel dried leaf of the two raru species and amplified with trnL-trnF, trnH-psbA, and ITS1-ITS4 primer-pairs. The results showed that the modified CTAB method proved to be successful and applicable for the extraction of DNA of C. melanoxylon Pierre and C. lanceolatum Craib. Furthermore, the trnL-trnF primer-pair was successfully amplified compared with trnH-psbA and ITS1-ITS4 indicating that the primer-pair can be used as a DNA barcode candidate for further DNA sequencing and analysis. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Energy from wood, as renewable energy, sourced from forest biomass is urgent to be developed because its availability is *** study focused on the socio-economic and policy aspects of biomass energyso that the development of plantation forests is more optimal to support energy *** study was conducted in Jakarta and west java provinces especially in Bandung in 2017 to provide information on social economic situationin developing policy for renewable energy sourced from forest biomass. The two locations are selected because they are the national and the provincial capitals that are rich with information and data related to existing regulations/policies for the development of renewable energy. Economic and financial analysis is conducted to see the feasibility of developing a forest biomass energy business. The results show that the potential for renewable energy from forest biomass is very largeinthe forms of feedstocks. Forest areas in Indonesia are very strategic for providing biomass-based energy resources. Energy Plantation Forest (HTE) is a potential and reliable energy source to be developed as a source of sustainable raw materials. This can accelerate the commitment of the MOEF in achieving renewable energi based on forest biomass that will contribute 5% to the national energy mix in 2025. It is recommended to: 1) provide policy support in the common vision of developing a renewable energy industry from forest biomass, 2) formulate policies on upstream-downstream HTE development policies, and 3) increase the competitiveness of HTE wood species for the utilization of forest biomass energy. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Under social forestry programme, community plantation forest (HTR) scheme aims to increase welfare of farmers and provide timber supply for industry, while at the same time also improve the environment. HTR permit has been granted to forest farmer groups in Boalemo District since 2012. This research tries to explore how farmers make use of both their HTR and private land, contribution of these land into household income and how the land-use systems applied would determine environment condition. Results reveals that agriculture and estate crops contributes for about 56% and 38% respectively into total income of households. In addition, when most farmers manage their private land, contribution of the private land provides almost twice to total income compared with income contribution from HTR land. Meanwhile, floods has been hit Boalemo District every year with more people suffering from the floods. Learnt from research results and findings, opportunities to combine various policies are available to utilize the HTR land for growing trees for future income, and the farmers can continue their current land-use system in their private land for short- and medium-term income. Considering the HTR land are located in hilly contour, the trees could potentially reduce erosion and flood incidents. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.
