This study is designed to evaluate the two years of operation of the Probolinggo New Terminal Port. Meanwhile, the objective is to acknowledge the characteristics, performance, accessibility, and prediction of its loading and unloading of goods. In order to achieve it, it needs to acknowledge the characteristics of the port, prediction or projection of the ships traffic volume, and goods by using linear regression analysis and qualitative descriptive statistics. The findings show that the characteristics of the port have not yet become a pilotage compulsory port. The port infrastructures are already adequate. The capacity of the Probolinggo New Terminal Port is still categorized as small. The types of boat that load and unload the goods comprise of barges, motorized sailing vessels, motorized sailing boats, and ships. The volume of ship calls and volume of goods loading and unloading at the Probolinggo New Terminal Port are very fluctuating and unstable. The internal accessibility from and to the Probolinggo New Terminal Port is very good and easy, however, for external, there is an obstacle in the area of Klakah. The prediction or projection of ship calls and goods loading and unloading are increased. To the Probolinggo New Terminal Port, it is recommended to improve the port infrastructure and to immediately maximize the role of port information so that the users can be informed about the port's profile and all facilities of goods loading and unloading. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Indonesia is a country with a rich array of traditional meals renowned for their health benefits and potential to serve as functional foods, including dadih. Several studies have shown that dadih is a traditional fermented product from Indonesia, with various culinary applications. In addition, it is typically produced from fermented buffalo milk, which forms an unchanged or broken lump when fermented at room temperature. This product is also widely consumed by the Minangkabau ethnic group in Central Sumatra (nowadays known as the provinces of west Sumatra, Riau, Kepulauan Riau, and Jambi), holding a significant position in their culinary practices. Dadih is often traditionally processed through spontaneous fermentation in bamboo containers without the need for additional inoculation with buffalo milk. The indigenous dadih lactic acid bacteria has been evaluated to have several advantages, including immunomodulatory, antioxidant, antimutagenic, hypocholesterolemic, and antimicrobial properties, by various mechanisms. In addition, this product offers significant nutritional content, promoting digestive health and enhancing the body’s resilience. © The Author(s) 2024.

Introduction: The spread of the COVID-19 virus requires unprecedented steps from the government such as the restriction of travelers and activities and enforcement of social distancing to reduce interaction between individuals. This led to a drastic decrease in tourist visits to the TN-BTS between January and December 2020 with the area reported having been closed between April-July. Meanwhile, there was an inadequate transportation system at a tourist destination area before the pandemic and that made the movement more difficult during the pandemic. Therefore, this research is focused on describing transportation modes integration in the East java-Indonesia TN-BTS area during this period. Methods: The intermodal integration was represented through the community's preference which was based on certain elements such as the need for connecting mode, main mode, multimodal network, transitional facilities, switching facilities with different networks, schedules integration, tariffs, routes, and times. Results and Discussion: The survey conducted, however, showed these indicators are below expectation as observed with the community satisfaction with transportation integration in the TN-BTS area measured to be very low, below 60%, using the Customer Satisfaction Index (CSI) tool. Moreover, the expectations on the variables for intermodal integration were also measured using Important Performance Analysis (IPA). Conclusion: The findings showed the policymakers and planners need to take steps to encourage the realization of transportation integration in the TN-BTS area to develop tourism in the area. © 2022 Priyambodo et al.

Energy from wood, as renewable energy, sourced from forest biomass is urgent to be developed because its availability is *** study focused on the socio-economic and policy aspects of biomass energyso that the development of plantation forests is more optimal to support energy *** study was conducted in Jakarta and west java provinces especially in Bandung in 2017 to provide information on social economic situationin developing policy for renewable energy sourced from forest biomass. The two locations are selected because they are the national and the provincial capitals that are rich with information and data related to existing regulations/policies for the development of renewable energy. Economic and financial analysis is conducted to see the feasibility of developing a forest biomass energy business. The results show that the potential for renewable energy from forest biomass is very largeinthe forms of feedstocks. Forest areas in Indonesia are very strategic for providing biomass-based energy resources. Energy Plantation Forest (HTE) is a potential and reliable energy source to be developed as a source of sustainable raw materials. This can accelerate the commitment of the MOEF in achieving renewable energi based on forest biomass that will contribute 5% to the national energy mix in 2025. It is recommended to: 1) provide policy support in the common vision of developing a renewable energy industry from forest biomass, 2) formulate policies on upstream-downstream HTE development policies, and 3) increase the competitiveness of HTE wood species for the utilization of forest biomass energy. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Under social forestry programme, community plantation forest (HTR) scheme aims to increase welfare of farmers and provide timber supply for industry, while at the same time also improve the environment. HTR permit has been granted to forest farmer groups in Boalemo District since 2012. This research tries to explore how farmers make use of both their HTR and private land, contribution of these land into household income and how the land-use systems applied would determine environment condition. Results reveals that agriculture and estate crops contributes for about 56% and 38% respectively into total income of households. In addition, when most farmers manage their private land, contribution of the private land provides almost twice to total income compared with income contribution from HTR land. Meanwhile, floods has been hit Boalemo District every year with more people suffering from the floods. Learnt from research results and findings, opportunities to combine various policies are available to utilize the HTR land for growing trees for future income, and the farmers can continue their current land-use system in their private land for short- and medium-term income. Considering the HTR land are located in hilly contour, the trees could potentially reduce erosion and flood incidents. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

The First International Conference on Genetic Resources and Agricultural Biotechnology (The 1st ICGRB) was held in IPB International Convention Center on 20-21 August 2018, Bogor, Indonesia. The theme of the conference was "Information system and exchanges of genetic resources for effective crop improvement". This conference facilitated the share and exchange of ideas, information and achievements on the management and utilization of plant genetic resources supported by biotechnology among researchers and academicians. This 1st ICGRB was also expected to result in bright ideas that will trigger international collaboration to resolve global agricultural challenges, in particular Indonesian challenge toward a sustainable bio-industry agriculture. Twelve invited speakers (Indonesia, Italy, Switzerland, Japan, Iran, USA, UK, South Korea and Singapore) shared their knowledge and experience with interactive discussion. In addition to Indonesian scientists, this event was successfully attracted approximately 150 participants coming from around seven countries joined in the plenary and parallel sessions as well as two consecutive international workshops. A total of 80 oral presentations on many crops with varied research areas were delivered in the conference by participating scientists. This conference was very useful in promoting and enhancing the applied technologies and related regulations on genetic resources exchange for crop improvement. © 2020 Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Antioxidant and antifungal activity of endophytic fungi associated with Agarwood trees

Several species of Aquilaria and Gyrinops are native to Indonesia and well known as agarwood-producing trees with a high economic value. Their bioactive compounds have a wide spectrum of uses, such as in medicine and cosmetics. These genera have undergone extensive search for novel bioactive compounds. The purpose of this study was to isolate, identify, and characterize the endophytic fungi community associated with Aquilaria malaccensis, A. microcarpa, Gyrinops versteegii, and A. crassna trees and investigate their bioactive properties as antioxidant agents and antagonists. A total of 50 fungi were successfully isolated from different tissues of the four species of agarwood-producing trees. Two isolates exhibited strong antioxidant activity, namely, Apodus oryzae (R2MC3A, IC50 60.92 mg/mL) and Diaporthe sp. (P1DS1[C], IC50 76.65 mg/mL). Two isolates, Pestalotiopsis theae (P3BS3[B]) and Curvularia sp. (P2CD3A), showed >75% antifungal activity against pathogenic Fusarium solani. The results revealed that endophytic fungi associated with the studied agarwood-producing trees had potential antioxidant and antifungal activities for further applications in biotechnology. © 2019, Korean Society of Wood Science Technology. Drought is one of major constrains for rice production in Indonesia. development of drought tolerant rice variety is believed as an efficien and effective strategy to face the challange. Nevertheless, drought is a complex trait thus many approach had been implemented in the selection of drought tolerant rice genotypes. This study aimed to search traits correlated with drought tolerance in rice plant. Two screening methods, i.e. seedling box and mini pot methods was conducted into 60 rice genotypes. The experiments were conducted during dry season 2016. The results showed that based on % recovery, TIL24 had the highest (82.5 %) while number of green leaves had strong positive correlation with root length, root number in zone 1 (horizontal), 2 (medium), and 3 (vertical), total root number, leaf rolling, and plant recovery. Nevertheless, proportion of root in zone 3 negatively correlated with shoot length, green leaf number, root number in zone 1 and 2, total root number, and plant recovery. It seem that proportion of vertical root compensate with other traits in developing drought tolerance, while number of green leaf under stress and root number in zone 2 correlated more with traits supporting drought tolerant in rice. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Rural development based on local resources utilization has been promoted as a strategy to achieve people prosperity in Indonesia. Although many studies have found that resource-based strategy is no longer relevant nowadays, for many areas this is still considered an appropriate approach. In order to examine the significance, we conducted a study in Sumba Barat Daya District of East Nusa Tenggara, focussing on coffee as one of the most abundant products in the region. Utilizing a socio-ecological approach, we collected data and information to depict the dynamics of coffee-based activities. A detailed study in Kadi Roma Village of Sumba Barat Daya on coffee ecosystem contribution to local community revealed that despite traditionally managed, coffee plays a significant role socially and economically. As a source of income to almost 17,000 smallholder farmers in Sumba Barat Daya, it can be concluded that coffee can become a gateway to attain successful rural development program. It also provides various opportunities for the community to participate which requires supportive innovation ecosystem to be established systematically by relevant local institutions, including include local government. © 2019 IOP Publishing Ltd. Technology of rubberized asphalt is significantly increased for the last five years among three highest natural rubber producing countries. Fresh natural rubber which is used as asphalt cement additive, consists of pre-vulcanized natural rubber latex (NRL), solid rubber compound, and master-batch. Selection of fresh natural rubber types are strongly influenced by process-ability, while dosage of fresh natural rubber determine rubberized asphalt properties. Mixing of pre-vulcanized NRL with hot melted asphalt is run at stirred mixer, while addition of solid rubber compound and master-batch into asphalt is conducted by using high shear mixer at 150 °C. Observation during rubberized asphalt production shows that mixing of solid rubber based asphalt additive was longer (12 h) than pre-vulcanized NRL (4 h). Longer mixing time due to solid rubber tend to swell in the hot melted asphalt since there is polarity difference between rubber particles and asphalt. Analysis of rubberized asphalt physical property shows that pre-vulcanized NRL produces highest elastic recovery value (40–70%) compared to rubberized asphalt based on solid rubber (25.8%). High elastic recovery indicates better resistance of rubberized asphalt against high traffic load and harsh environment. It can be concluded that during field trial test, usage of pre-vulcanized NRL is more beneficial. © 2020 WILEY-VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, Weinheim
