We are developing remote control technologies for humanoid robots. The advantage of the remote control is that tele-operated humanoid robots can deal with various tasks according to the situation in real environment. Our goal is to develop the control system to execute the tele-operation of the humanoid robot easily. We developed whole body operation methods of the humanoid robot that works in environment with some obstacles. In this paper, we describe the developed method and experimental results using the tele-operation system of the humanoid robot HRP-3P. We discuss about the robot autonomy to perform the operation without difficulty

A key challenge for high performance CMOS devices is the external parasitic resistance. This paper addresses scaling trends of contact level and discusses emerging constraints related to the properties of materials used in the current technology. Experimental and theoretical data presented herein are critical in understanding CA challenges beyond the 45 nm technology node and show great potential for copper as the alternative to tungsten process for CA metallization

In this paper, the authors present the results of experimental identification of the rigid body properties of an actual engine structure using an experimental spatial matrix identification method. The method identifies a set of spatial matrices using experimentally measured single-input-and-multiple-output frequency response functions within a frequency range of interest including the first natural frequency. The sets of spatial matrices can represent not only dynamic characteristics but also the rigid body properties of test structures. In this paper, an actual three-cylinder diesel engine is tested to verify the method especially focusing on the identification of its rigid body properties. The engine is complex so that many natural modes exist in the frequency range of interest. Nevertheless, the method successfully identified a set of spatial matrices that can represent the dynamic characteristics of the engine. Then, all the rigid body properties are derived from the identified mass matrix with practical accuracy. © (2006) by the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven Department of Mechanical Engineering All rights reserved.

Under visualization idea based on large-scale dismantling and sharing, the implementing of network interconnection of calculation components and storage components by loose coupling, which are tightly coupling in traditional server, achieves computing capacity, storage capacity and service capacity distribution according to need in application-level. Under the new server model, the segregation and protection of user space and system space as well as the security monitoring of virtual resources are the important factors of ultimate security guarantee. This article presents a large-scale and expansible distributed invasion detection system of virtual computing environment based on virtual machine. The system supports security monitoring management of global resources and provides uniform view of security attacks under virtual computing environment, thereby protecting the user applications and system security under capacity services domain.

We have developed a deterioration diagnostic technique of the insulators for power distribution equipments such as breakers using the chemical evaluation and the Mahalanobis-Taguchi (MT) method. It is possible to diagnose the deterioration degree with great accuracy and nondestructively on-site without the effect of humidity and external noise such as electromagnetic wave. The chemical evaluation items are ion concentration, coloration, and gloss, etc. The measurement of the nitric acid ion concentration and the sulfuric acid ion concentration was especially effective for diagnosis. It was clarified that the deterioration degree of the insulators could be diagnosed by this technique because the linear relationship existed between the results judged by MT method and the actual measurement results of surface resistivity. This technique has been applied to the diagnosis of power distribution equipment since April, 2003

This paper presents an overview of our ongoing project KAP, which aims to build a message-passing parallelizing compiler for distributed-memory machines. In this paper, an improved automatic code generation algorithm is discussed. Our algorithm uses the data and computation decomposition, and the reading and writing access functions to create the communication code. We can not only solve the problems which the conventional algorithm can do but also can solve another kind of problem. In such cases: there is no data dependence and the read access is not aligned in the loop nest, or the exact data-flow analysis is not given because of the limitation of the algorithm of LWT, the conventional algorithm can not create communication code correctly while our improved algorithm can resolve this problem. Experiments prove that the novel algorithm can achieve satisfactory effect

This paper thoroughly analyses the MUSIC-LIKE algorithm based on the fourth order cumulant and the principle of uniform linear array extension. An improved algorithm is presented that can convert the fourth cumulant matrix of M 2 times M 2 into the (2M - 1) times (2M times 1) matrix. The method keeps the amount of the virtual element of MUSIC-LIKE algorithm to uniform linear array and eliminates massive redundant data as well. Computer simulations show that the extension ability of this method is the same as MUSIC-LIKE and that the method reduces the time and computation cost

This paper describes newly developed delay and power monitoring schemes for minimizing power consumption by means of the dynamic control of supply voltage V DD and threshold voltage V TH in active and standby modes. On the basis of delay monitoring results, either V DD control or V TH control is selected, in order to avoid any oscillation problem between them in the active mode. With respect to power monitoring, experimental results with a 90-nm CMOS device show that it reduces power consumption by making it possible (1) to maintain a certain switching current I SW / leakage current I LEAK ratio in the active mode, and (2) to detect optimum body bias conditions (subthreshold current I SUBTH = substrate current I SUB ) within an error of less than 20 % with respect to actual minimum leakage current values in the standby mode

Ultra low power circuit operation is demonstrated with dopant segregated Schottky (DSS) source/drain transistors for the first time. DSS greatly improves propagation delay in multiple fan-in NAND gates at constant standby current. The delay is enhanced to 21% at 0.8V for 3-input NAND gates. Energy delay product (EDP) is improved by more than 50% with DSS at 0.8V
