It is challenging to align multi-exposed images due to large illumination variations, especially in presence of saturated regions. In this paper, a novel image alignment algorithm is proposed to cope with the multi-exposed images with saturated regions. Specifically, the multi-exposed images are first normalized by using intensity mapping functions (IMFs) in consideration of saturated pixels. Then, the normalized images are coded by using the local binary pattern (LBP). Finally, the coded images are aligned by formulating an optimization problem by using a differentiable Hamming distance. Experimental results show that the proposed algorithm outperforms state-of-the-art alignment methods for multi-exposed images in terms of alignment accuracy and robustness to exposure *** Codes CS © 2020, CC0.

It has great importance to locate the leaked source of hazardous odor in a ventilated indoor environment, for chemical warehouse safety and anti-terrorist explosion, etc. The distribution of odor plume is time-varying and intermittent in the indoor environment, which makes it difficult for single robot to locate the odor source. The multi-robot cooperative location of odor sources can reduce the interference of the above features and achieve high success rate of odor source localization. In this paper, the fruit fly optimization algorithm is applied to the odor source location problem, and a Fixed-step Fruit Fly Optimization Algorithm (FS-FOA) is proposed. To further improve the efficiency of the search and localization in the larger search range, a new strategy with adaptive algorithm for odor source localization is put forward, which is Concentration-Adaptive -Step Fruit Fly Optimization Algorithm (CAS-FOA). And the efficiency of the strategy in dynamic plume environment is validated in our experiments.

In software-defined networks(SDNs),controller placement is a critical factor in the design and planning for the future Internet of Things(IoT),telecommunication,and satellite communication *** research has concentrated largely on factors such as reliability,latency,controller capacity,propagation delay,and energy ***,SDNs are vulnerable to distributed denial of service(DDoS)attacks that interfere with legitimate use of the *** ever-increasing frequency of DDoS attacks has made it necessary to consider them in network design,especially in critical applications such as military,health care,and financial services networks requiring high *** propose a mathematical model for planning the deployment of SDN smart backup controllers(SBCs)to preserve service in the presence of DDoS *** a number of input parameters,our model has two distinct ***,it determines the optimal number of primary controllers to place at specific locations or nodes under normal operating ***,it recommends an optimal number of smart backup controllers for use with different levels of DDoS *** goal of the model is to improve resistance to DDoS attacks while optimizing the overall cost based on the *** simulated results demonstrate that the model is useful in planning for SDN reliability in the presence of DDoS attacks while managing the overall cost.

The Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau, known as the "Asian Water Tower," is critical for providing drinking water, making the protection of its water quality essential. However, higher nitrogen concentrations and its rapid increase have been observed, with riverine nitrogen sources remaining controversial. Hamiltonian identification plays a key role in learning the dynamics of closed quantum systems. A novel strategy for Hamiltonian identification is developed in the paper by applying repeated projective measurements with a fixed period. The corresponding measurement outcome sequence forms a time-homogeneous Markov chain, the transition matrix of which is a quadratic function of the Hamiltonian. As a result, the identification method is achieved by two steps: 1) learning the transition matrix of the observed Markov chains; 2) identifying the Hamiltonian using the function relating it to the transition matrix, which is transformed to a manifold optimization problem. A simulation example is provided to show the efficacy of the proposed method.

For each smart home, the need of energy consumption supervision is necessary, which plays an important role to ensure the highest power quality and to enhance the stability of the whole grid. The current document implements a smart home supply strategy based on endless resources to reduce the electricity bill and confirm the energy balance. In this context, a proposed supervision algorithm operates in eight cases to reach optimal energy flow between renewable generators, home battery and grid in a smart home concept is presented. The system is evaluated using the framework “Business Process Model and Notation” (BPMN) Camunda basing on information stored in Firebase Cloud and results are presented in order to manifest the efficiency of this control strategy.

A Piecewise-Markovian Lyapunov Approach to Reliable Output Feedback control for Fuzzy-Affine systems With Time-Delays and Actuator Faults

This paper addresses the problem of delay-dependent robust and reliable H-infinity static output feedback (SOF) control for a class of uncertain discrete-time Takagi-Sugeno fuzzy-affine (FA) systems with time-varying delay and actuator faults in a singular system framework. The Markov chain is employed to describe the actuator faults behaviors. In particular, by utilizing a system augmentation approach, the conventional closed-loop system is converted into a singular FA system. By constructing a piecewise-Markovian Lyapunov-Krasovskii functional, a new H-infinity performance analysis criterion is then presented, where a novel summation inequality and S-procedure are succeedingly employed. Subsequently, thanks to the special structure of the singular system formulation, the piecewise-affine SOF controller design is proposed via a convex program. Lastly, illustrative examples are given to show the efficacy and less conservatism of the presented approach.

Background: systems Medicine is a novel approach to medicine, that is, an interdisciplinary field that considers the human body as a system, composed of multiple parts and of complex relationships at multiple levels, and further integrated into an environment. Exploring systems Medicine implies understanding and combining concepts coming from diametral different fields, including medicine, biology, statistics, modeling and simulation, and data science. Such heterogeneity leads to semantic issues, which may slow down implementation and fruitful interaction between these highly diverse fields. Methods: In this review, we collect and explain more than100 terms related to systems Medicine. These include both modeling and data science terms and basic systems medicine terms, along with some synthetic definitions, examples of applications, and lists of relevant references. Multicolor super-resolution imaging remains an intractable challenge for both far-field and near-field based super-resolution techniques. Planar super-oscillatory lens (SOL), a far-field subwavelength-focusing diffractive lens device, holds great potential for achieving sub-diffraction-limit imaging at multiple wavelengths. However, conventional SOL devices suffer from a numerical aperture (NA) related intrinsic tradeoff among the depth of focus (DoF), chromatic dispersion and focus spot size, being an essential characteristics of common diffractive optical elements. Typically, the limited DoF and significant chromatism associated with high NA can lead to unfavorable degradation of image quality although increasing NA imporves the resolution. Here, we apply a multi-objective genetic algorithm (GA) optimization approach to design an apochromatic binary-phase SOL that generates axially jointed multifoci concurrently having prolonged DoF, customized working distance (WD) and suppressed side-lobes yet minimized main-lobe size, optimizing the aforementioned NA-dependent tradeoff. Experimental implementation of this GA-optimized SOL demonstrates simultaneous focusing of blue, green and red light beams into an optical needle of ∼0.5λ in diameter and >10λ in length (DoF) at 428 μm WD, resulting in an ultimate resolution better than λ/3 in the lateral dimension. By integrating this apochromatic SOL device with a commercial fluorescence microscope, we employ the optical needle to perform, for the first time, three-dimensional super-resolution multicolor fluorescence imaging of the "unseen" fine structure of neurons at one go. The present study provides not only a practical route to far-field multicolor super-resolution imaging but also a viable approach for constructing imaging systems avoiding complex sample positioning and unfavorable photobleaching. Reliable guidance of fixed-wing Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) is challenging, as their high maneuverability exposes them to several dynamical changes and parametric uncertainties. Reliability of state-of-the-art guidance methods is often at stake, as these methods heavily rely on precise UAV course dynamics, assumed in a decoupled first-order form with known time constant. To improve reliability of guidance for fixed-wing UAVs, this work proposes a novel vector field law that can handle uncertain course time constant and state-dependent uncertainty in the course dynamics arising from coupling. Stability is studied in the Lyapunov framework, while reliability of the proposed method is tested on a software-in-the loop UAV simulator. The simulations show that, in the presence of such uncertainty, the proposed method outperforms the standard vector field approaches.
