In recent decades, lakes in arid central Asia have undergone severe ecological and environmental changes due to accelerated climate warming and intense human activities. However, there have been few studies that integrate multi-community dynamics, long-term historical trends, and drivers of ecological change, limiting our ability to effectively manage the evolution of these freshwater ecosystems. In this paper, we analyze high-resolution biotic proxies (subfossil cladocerans and diatoms) from Bosten Lake and Ailike Lake, northwest China, over the past two centuries, and compare these records with other lakes in the region to reveal changes in lake ecosystems. Our results indicate that natural climate variability was the primary driver of a first transition (∼1910 CE), whereas anthropogenic forcings predominantly drove a second transition (∼1960 CE) in these dryland lakes. After ∼1960 CE, planktonic eutrophic cladoceran species such as Bosmina longirostris and diatom species including Fragilaria cf. crotonensis, Cyclotella atomus, and Cyclotella meneghiniana became more dominant. Redundancy analysis and variance partitioning analysis suggest that changes in community assemblages were mainly driven by nitrogen loading (TN and/or δ15N), with additional influences related to lake productivity (Chl-a and TOC) and global warming. Furthermore, another shift in cladoceran composition in Bosten Lake, commencing ∼1990 CE, from large-sized Daphnia to small-sized Bosmina, was likely caused by increased predation pressure as result of the introduction of commercial fish farming. Our findings highlight the importance of understanding the complex interactions of lake ecological shifts with compounded stressors, both climate and anthropogenic forcings, for sustainable water management strategies, enhancing ecological resilience, and protecting freshwater ecosystems from further degradation. © 2025 Elsevier B.V.

The exploration of small solar system bodies started with fast fly-bys of opportunity on the sidelines of missions to the planets. The tiny new worlds seen turned out to be so intriguing and different from all else (and each other) that dedicated sample-return and in-situ analysis missions were developed and launched. Through these, highly efficient low-thrust propulsion expanded from commercial use into mainstream and flagship science missions, there in combination with gravity assists propulsion. In parallel, the growth of small spacecraft solutions accelerated in numbers as well as individual spacecraft capabilities. The on-going missions OSIRIS-REX (NASA) or HAYABUSA2 (JAXA) with its landers MINERVA-II and MASCOT, and the upcoming NEASCOUT mission are examples of this synergy of trends. The continuation of these and other related devlopments towards a propellant-less and highly efficient class of spacecraft for solar system exploration emerges in the form of small spacecraft solar sails designed for carefree handling and equipped with carried landers and application modules. These address the needs of all asteroid user communities - planetary science, planetary defence, and in-situ resource utilization - as well as other fields of solar system science and applications such as space weather warning and solar observations. Already the DLR-ESTEC GOSSAMER Roadmap for Solar Sailing initiated studies of missions uniquely feasible with solar sails such as Displaced L1 (DL1) space weather advance warning and monitoring and Solar Polar Orbiter (SPO) delivery, which demonstrate the capabilities of near-term solar sails to reach any kind of orbit in the inner solar system. This enables Multiple Near-Earth Asteroid (NEA) rendezvous missions (MNR), from Earth-coorbital to extremely inclined and even retrograde target orbits. Mobile robotics will play a key role in future space, ocean and deep sea exploration activities. Besides the actual development of the robotic systems, the different ways of commanding those systems, using technologies varying from teleoperation with the human in the loop, through shared autonomy towards highly autonomous systems, will be the main challenges of these missions. This paper describes the robotic activities of the DLR institutions within the Helmholtz projects ROBEX and ARCHES, dealing with robots for autonomous space and ocean exploration applications. Furthermore, it describes the challenges, the overlap and the synergies of those domains, the different approaches of operating robots from far distances in extreme environments and gives an outlook on future mission possibilities. In this paper an approach for adapting a speed controller in order to perform a superposition of the speed of a circulating pump with a sinusoidal excitation is presented. In various applications the injection of a sinusoidal signal can be used for frequency response analysis. In this case the speed control of a circulating pump is adapted in order to perform a speed excitation which can be used for the identification of the pipeline network the pump is embedded in. As the original speed control was implemented with a PI-controller in order to control the operating point of the pump, the control is adapted by adding a resonant controller in parallel to the PI-controller in order to maintain a transfer function similar to the original one while providing an improved behaviour regarding the injection of the speed excitation.

The emerging development of connected and automated vehicles imposes a significant challenge on current vehicle control and transportation systems. This paper proposes a novel unified approach, Parallel Driving, a cloud-based cyberphysical-social systems(CPSS) framework aiming at synergizing connected automated driving. This study first introduces the CPSS and ACP-based intelligent machine systems. Then the parallel driving is proposed in the cyber-physical-social space,considering interactions among vehicles, human drivers, and information. Within the framework, parallel testing, parallel learning and parallel reinforcement learning are developed and concisely reviewed. development on intelligent horizon(iHorizon)and its applications are also presented towards parallel *** proposed parallel driving offers an ample solution for achieving a smooth, safe and efficient cooperation among connected automated vehicles with different levels of automation in future road transportation systems.

We are presenting the case of a 38-year-old woman with nonverbal autism and intellectual disability, hospitalized in a neurobehavioural unit because of a pica behaviour for 3 years. During the hospitalization, the patient presented an episode of pain, agitation, restlessness, rhabdomyolysis, coma, tachycardia, hyperthermia, shivering, and diarrhoea. The main hypothesis raised was tramadol overdose because of the immediate antidote response to the injection of naloxone 0,4 mg/mL. Even if we did not exceed the recommended prescription dosage of tramadol, the presence of gastric bezoar slowed the absorption of the drug, and the consequence was an opioid overdose and serotonin syndrome. © 2021 Iolanda Palimaru et al.

This paper investigates the robustness issue of stochastic nonlinear network control systems (NCSs) with network-induced delays and packet dropouts. Firstly, the controller for the nominal system (without network-induced delays and packet dropouts) is designed to guarantee its globally asymptotic stability. Then, by choosing parameters which satisfy associated conditions, the ultimately globally asymptotic stability (UGAS) of corresponding stochastic nonlinear NCS is guaranteed. Finally, a simulation example is given to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed stability conditions. © 2017 IEEE.

Gender equity in global health is a target of the Sustainable development Goals and a requirement of just societies. Substantial progress has been made towards control and elimination of neglected tropical diseases (NTDs) via mass drug administration (MDA). However, little is known about whether MDA coverage is equitable. This study assesses the availability of gender-disaggregated data and whether systematic gender differences in MDA coverage exist.;Coverage data were analyzed for 4784 district-years in 16 countries from 2012 through 2016. The percentage of districts reporting gender-disaggregated data was calculated and male-female coverage compared.;Reporting of gender-disaggregated coverage data improved from 32% of districts in 2012 to 90% in 2016. In 2016, median female coverage was 85.5% compared with 79.3% for males. Female coverage was higher than male coverage for all diseases. However, within-country differences exist, with 64 (3.3%) districts reporting male coverage >10 percentage points higher than female coverage.;Reporting of gender-disaggregated data is feasible. And NTD programs consistently achieve at least equal levels of coverage for women. Understanding gendered barriers to MDA for men and women remains a priority.
