He received his BEng in mechanical engineering from the National University of Singapore in 1984 and his MSME degree in mechanical engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute Troy New York in 1992. He is currently a lecturer in the School of Mechanical and Production Engineering of the Nanyang Technological University. His research interest is in the area of modeling of casting processes. He has recently been active in the development of multimedia educational coursewares for university teaching. Sai-Cheong Fok:was born in Singapore in 1957. He received his diploma in production engineering from Singapore Polytechnic in 1977 BASc from the University of Ottawa Canada in 1985 and his PhD from Monash University Australia in 1990. He is currently a lecturer in the School of Mechanical and Production Engineering of the Nanyang Technological University. His research interest is in the area of robotics and control. He has also been active in the development of multimedia courseware for laboratory teaching.

Panjukhin was born in Russia in 1954. He received the Engineer degree in applied mathematics from the Moscow Institute of Electronic Machinery (MIEM) in 1977 and the Candidate of Sciences degree in microelectronics in 1984 from MIEM. He is at present an Assistant Professor in the MIEM. His present scientific activity lies in the areas of integrated circuit process simulation and numerical methods development. Nicolay A. Kolobov was born in Russia in 1938. He received the Engineer degree in solid state electronics from the Moscow Energetics Institute in 1961 the Candidate of Sciences degree in microelectronics from the Moscow Institute of Electronic Machinery in 1971 and the Doctor of Sciences degree in microelectronics from the MIEM in 1985. He is now a Full Professor in the MIEM. His research work has been focused for about thirty years on microelectronics technology especially on the physics and technology of the thermal oxidation of silicon. Natalya A. Leontjeva was born in Russia in 1968. She received the Engineer degree in automatized control systems from the Moscow Institute of Electronic Machinery in 1991. She is at present a postgraduate student in the MIEM. Her research work is in the area of silicon thermal oxidation modelling. She is currently working towards the Candidate of Sciences degree.

He has made major contributions to the analysis and architecture of data communication ISDN and BISDN via satellite. Dr. Chitre directs and participates in the international and national standards activities in ISDN BISDN and data communication as they apply to satellite communication. He was Chairman of the Working Group on Protocols and Network Timing Function of the CCIR/CCITT Joint Ad Hoc Group on ISDN/Satellite Matters during 1990–1992. He is a mechanical engineer in the power systems directorate of the Annapolis Detachment Carde-rock Division Naval Surface Warfare Center (formerly David Taylor Research Center) and has been with the Department of the Navy since 1981. Mr. Pettersen worked for the Naval Sea Systems Command from May 1981 until June 1985. He has been employed with NSWC Annapolis Detachment since June 1985. Charles L. Bielitz:is a mechanical engineer in the mechanical transmissions branch of Annapolis Detachment Carderock Division Naval Surface Warfare Center where he has worked for the past six years. He received his BSME from Virginia Polytechnic Institute in 1981. Prior to joining NSWC Annapolis he was employed by the General Electric Company in the medium steam turbine department. John Cianci:received his ASME from Tufts University in 1958 and his BSME from Tufts University in 1962. Mr. Cianci joined General Electric in 1954. He has thirty-seven years of experience in design manufacturing testing installation and customer support of high speed high power industrial marine and Navy gearing bearings couplings and lube systems. His experience includes positions of both engineer and manager in the areas of gear design gear products quality control and gear manufacturing engineering he is currently technical leader Gear Development Programs. He received the B. Eng. degree in electrical engineering from Concordia University Montreal Canada in 1989. He is at present completing the M.A.Sc. degree in electrical engineering at Concordia University. (S'75–S'79–M'79–SM'86) received the Ph.D. degree from Southern Methodist University Dallas TX in 1979. He spent the next two years working as a Visiting Professor in Egypt after which he moved to Ottawa Canada in 1982. He assumed teaching and research positions in Carleton and Manitoba Univerities and later moved to Concordia University Montreal Canada in 1983 where he is now a Professor in the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department. He has published numerous papers in IEEE and international journals in the areas of spread spectrum and networking. He is a well-known expert in these areas and serves as a consultant to many companies. His current research interests include wide-band metropolitan networks switching architectures and performance of on-board multibeam satellites acquisitionless CDMA networks code distribution and orthogonalization of CDMA signals responsive congestion control for ATM-based networks ARQ techniques and investigation of the novel SUGAR CDMA systems in fading channels. Dr. Elhakeem is a Senior Member of the Canadian Electrical Engineering Society and Armed Forces Association. He has chaired numerous technical sessions in IEEE Conferences was the Technical Program Chairman for IEEE Montech 1986 Montreal Canada.
