Optimizing process conditions in anaerobic digestion could enhance the utilization of organic matter for renewable energy generation. Thus, initial upset substrates with elevated volatile fatty acids were investigated under agitation and non-agitation conditions for optimal bioreactor performance. There were two continuous agitation scenarios for the liquid-state (40 and 100 rpm) with a non-agitated scenario. Similarly, a non-agitated and 40 rpm scenario for the solid-state. The result indicated that the non-agitated liquid-state reactor had the highest methane yield (193 L/kgVS) and lowest retention (51 days) despite delayed microbial adaptation. Of the prominent microbes, the relative abundance of Firmicutes and Archaea_unclassified negatively correlated with VFA at 100 rpm. Contrarily at 40 rpm, Firmicutes correlated positively with VFA, an indication that Firmicutes could withstand acid production at agitation speed ≤40 rpm suggesting that agitation associated with VFA might reduce microbial diversity in an initial upset liquid-state bioreactor. Thus, upset influent could be utilized for energy generation with a non-agitated liquid-state bioreactor. © 2024

The Internet of Things (IoT) has altered many fields because it combines so entirety. But likely that these instruments are so smooth to hack, it has still created plenty safety worries. To hold Wi-Fi IoT networks cautious, Intrusion Detection and Prevention Systems (IDPS) are very main. They look for and fix safety dents. This research focuses on Machine Learning (ML) systems and looks at the various types of IDPS for Wi-Fi IoT networks. There is plenty research on intrusion detection systems (IDS) over the internet of things (IoT) that is look at in this place study. It displays by virtue of what well differing algorithms, containing neural networks, decision trees, random forests, and Support Vector Machines (SVM), act. It further checks machine learning-based IoT safety models, like Support Vector Clustering (SVC) in addition to convolutional neural networks (CNNs), in consideration of label and stop hacking risks in IoT backgrounds. Reviewing secondary evidence and secondary data is part of the study process. These are used to find the basic IDPS for Wireless IoT Networks styles and questions. This research explains that intrusion detection systems (IDS) are essential for consistency the Internet of Things cautious, what plans established machine learning can help find and stop threats more effectively. This study has plenty useful information for scientists and experts that can help them devise better IDPS remedies for Wireless IoT Networks. © 2024 IEEE.

The paper addresses process and tool development in support of qualification assessments of performance models. Details are provided regarding developing enablers in the fields of data science, uncertainty quantification, and machine learning. Performance models are delivered for assessment in all different shapes, for different purposes, with different pedigrees. All or parts of these models may be proprietary. Some models are delivered without documentation and pedigree, referred to as black box models. Traditionally these gaps in information, if possible, are filled by time-consuming, resource-intensive work of subject matter experts (SMEs). New processes and tools are proposed for reducing this burden and providing direction for SME efforts. The new approach is exercised for validation of an AH-64 performance model. Efforts contrast new applications of high-powered computational tools with the long-accepted SME-driven methods to establish value and increase capabilities. Results indicate that emerging methodologies can provide valuable guidance without SME involvement. © 2021 Vertical Flight Society.

This study presents the design and implementation of a sensor-based system for detecting rodent activity. The proposed system utilizes infrared (IR) receivers for detecting rodent presence and can incorporate IP cameras to capture intruder images. Data collected by sensor nodes are transmitted to a database via Wi-Fi for web access. The system employs a reflective-type IR sensor comprising an emitter and a receiver aligned in the same direction to discern approaching or receding objects. Power-efficient operation is ensured through the use of the Heltec Wireless Stick Lite MCU and LoRa transceivers for data transmission. Results demonstrate the system's effectiveness in monitoring rodent behavior, with power consumption averaging 67.4mA to 69.5mA, supported by two 18650 batteries for up to 4 days of continuous operation. During the 18-day experiment duration, a total of 1,453 instances were recorded.

The application of fashion technology systems and Artificial Intelligence (AI) implanted in Industrial Automation (IA), and Artificial Intelligence consciousness is a huge registration field for modern retail industrial application. In this way, this insightful innovation and embedded system item scheme demonstrates the state of progress of development product art design innovation and talks about the application examples of Artificial Intelligence consciousness innovation in embedded systems. On this basis, research techniques in item configuration of embedded systems are centered inside and outside, with the idea of Artificial Intelligence logic limits as the center. Artificial Intelligence (AI) logic innovation has been applied to the modern item scheme, which now provides electronic assistance to various works to create things based on the human experience. Sub-lethal pesticide exposure interferes with honey bee memory of learnt colours

Neonicotinoid pesticide use has increased around the world despite accumulating evidence of their potential detrimental sub-lethal effects on the behaviour and physiology of bees, and its contribution to the global decline in bee health. Whilst flower colour is considered as one of the most important signals for foraging honey bees (Apis mellifera), the effects of pesticides on colour vision and memory retention in a natural setting remain unknown. We trained free flying honey bee foragers by presenting artificial yellow flower feeder, to an unscented artificial flower patch with 6 different flower colours to investigate if sub-lethal levels of imidacloprid would disrupt the acquired association made between the yellow flower colour from the feeder and food reward. We found that for doses higher than 4 % of LD50 value, the foraging honey bees no longer preferentially visited the yellow flowers within the flower patch and instead, we suspect, reverted back to baseline foraging preferences, with a complete loss of the yellow preference. Our honey bee colour vision modelling indicates that discriminating the yellow colour from the rest should have been easy cognitive task. Pesticide exposure also resulted in a significant increase in Lop1, UVop, and Blop, and a decrease in CaMKII and CREB gene expression. Our results suggest that memory loss is the most plausible mechanism to explain the alteration of bee foraging colour preference. Across bees, colour vision is highly conserved and is essential for efficient pollination services. Therefore, our findings have important implications for ecosystem health and agricultural services world-wide. © 2025

In this paper, we introduce an approach for recognizing and classifying gestures that accompany mathematical terms, in a new collection we name the "GAMT" dataset. Our method uses language as a means of providing context to classify gestures. Specifically, we use a CLIP-style framework to construct a shared embedding space for gestures and language, experimenting with various methods for encoding gestures within this space. We evaluate our method on our new dataset containing a wide array of gestures associated with mathematical terms. The shared embedding space leads to a substantial improvement in gesture classification. Furthermore, we identify an efficient model that excelled at classifying gestures from our unique dataset, thus contributing to the further development of gesture recognition in diverse interaction scenarios.

In this study, a series of Al complexes bearing amidates, thioamidates, ureidates, and thioureidates were synthesized and their catalytic activity for ϵ-caprolactone (CL) polymerization was evaluated. SPr-Al exhibited a higher catalytic activity than OPr-Al (3.2 times as high for CL polymerization;[CL] : [SPr-Al] : [BnOH] = 100 : 0.5 : 2;[SPr-Al] = 10 mM, conv. = 93% after 14 min at 25 °C), and USCl-Al exhibited a higher catalytic activity than UCl-Al (4.6 times as high for CL polymerization;[CL] : [USCl-Al] : [BnOH] = 100 : 0.5 : 2;[USCl-Al] = 10 mM, conv. = 90% after 15 min at 25 °C). Regardless of whether aluminum amidates or ureidates were present, thioligands improved the polymerization rate of aluminum catalysts. Density functional theory calculations revealed that the eight-membered ring [SPr-AlOMe2]2 decomposed into the four-membered ring SPr-AlOMe2. However, [OPr-AlOMe2]2 did not decompose because of its strong bridging Al-O bond. The overall activation energy required for CL polymerization was lower when using [SPr-AlOMe2]2 (18.1 kcal mol−1) as a catalyst than when using [OPr-AlOMe2]2 (23.9 kcal mol−1). This is because the TS2a transition state of SPr-AlOMe2 had a more open coordination geometry with a small N-Al-S angle (72.91°) than did TS3c of [OPr-AlOMe2]2, the crowded highest-energy transition state of [OPr-AlOMe2]2 with a larger N-Al-O angle (99.63°). © 2023 The Royal Society of Chemistry.

He is an assistant professor of Science & Technology Studies and the associate director of the Games & Simulation Arts & Sciences Program at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy NY. His work examines game engines and design through a feminist technoscience studies lens. is a co-guest editor for this special issue Critical Game Design and an associate professor in the Department of Media and Information at Michigan State University. His research examines the creative collaborative work of (video)game design and development. This research examines the cultural and collaborative dynamics that occur in both professional “AAA” organizations and formal and informal “independent” game development communities. His book Developer's Dilemma was published by MIT Press (2014).

This special issue addresses the epistemological, institutional, and political challenges of integrating critical games scholarship with game development practices and pedagogy. The featured essays help form a foundation for Critical Game Design and draw from intellectual traditions and debates not only from both game studies and game design, but from the classical design disciplines as well. We aim to build more connective tissue and collaboration between game design and the broader design disciplines, allowing space for research, scholarship, and creative work that drives the underlying epistemological core of the many spaces in which all designers find themselves educated and employed.

Niobium-doped tin oxide (NTO) particles with a macroporous structure have been developed as catalyst supports for enhancing the durability and performance of polymer electrolyte fuel cells (PEFCs). This macroporous architecture improves the mass transport properties of the electrode. However, their weak mechanical strength can cause structural collapse, thereby limiting single-cell performance at high current densities. In this study, we employed ruthenium oxide (RuO₂) as a binder to integrate with macroporous NTO particles (denoted as NTO/RuO₂). This approach simultaneously enhanced the electrical conductivity and mechanical strength of the catalyst supports, improving the performance of PEFCs. Incorporating RuO₂ binders effectively stabilized the macroporous structure, and the NTO/RuO₂ particles with 50 wt% RuO₂ loading maintained their structural integrity under high compression pressures of up to 40 MPa. The aggregated NTO/RuO₂ particles containing 50 wt% RuO₂ binder also exhibited higher conductivity than the NTO aggregates without RuO₂ binder, which was attributed to the conductive network formed by RuO₂. Importantly, the membrane electrode assembly (MEA) fabricated with macroporous NTO/RuO₂ particles containing 20 wt% RuO₂ binder achieved a maximum current density of 2.16 A cm⁻² at 60 °C and 100% relative humidity (RH), outperforming the MEA utilizing Carbon Vulcan as the support (2.06 A cm⁻²). Furthermore, the enhanced hydrophilic properties of the RuO₂ binder improved water retention at the catalyst layer/membrane interface, thus promoting membrane hydration and overall cell performance at a high temperature of 80 °C and a low RH of 30%. © 2025 RSC.
