Millions of people of all ages have been diagnosed with epilepsy all over the world. Electroencephalography (EEG), a quantitative component, is vital in identifying and analyzing epileptic seizures. Manual EEG detection takes a long time and has serious consequences. To prevent this circumstance, the world needs alternative detection technologies. For more than a decade, several strategies and procedures have been used to assist medical doctors in detecting technological improvement. Numerous automated seizure identification frameworks that use machine learning approaches have recently been presented to replace traditional methodologies. However, because multichannel EEG data is unpredictable, selecting optimal channels as well as characteristics and classifying them remain unsolved issues. During automatic signaling, the gadget also emits a noisy signal, making detection and prediction challenging. In this paper, we have tested various entropy features and selected the best features to classify seizure patients. First, we preprocessed the data using IMF of the raw signal, and then entropy features were extracted to classify the epileptic patients. The proposed channel selection method, SVM-GA, works well with our framework and successfully removes redundant channels from the data. © 2022 IEEE.

This paper presents a robust, stereo audio signal watermarking algorithm. The inter-channel redundancy of stereo audio signal is exploited by calculating average and difference signals from the LR channels of stereo audio. Discrete Wavelet Transform (DWT) followed by Discrete Cosine Transform (DCT) are applied to both average and difference signals. Few selected transform domain coefficients of average signal are used for embedding a robust watermark along with synchronization codes. A semi-fragile watermark is embedded for integrity check in a few of the transform domain coefficients of difference signal. Quantization technique is used for embedding. As both average and difference signals are used for embedding, the watermark will spread evenly in both LR channels without interfering each other. As more signal energy is concentrated in average signal compared to difference signal, larger quantization step size can be used for embedding watermark in average signal. As both the channels are used for embedding, high data payload is achieved. The proposed scheme is blind where both the watermarks are extracted independently without using the original audio. Extensive experimental results assure that the proposed watermarking scheme provides high SNR and is highly robust to common attacks like, MP3 compression, cropping, time shifting, filtering, re-sampling and re-quantization.

The development of self-powered, flexible, and multi-function sensors is highly anticipated in wearable electronics, however, it remains a daunting challenge to identify different signals based on a single device with singular sensing material without algorithmic support. Here, a smart adaptable hydrogel is developed by co-introducing two ions with vastly different hydrophilicity for the construction of an electrochemically self-powered, flexible, and reversibly switchable difunctional chemosensor with a metal-air battery structure. The prepared hydrogel can readily switch between water-rich and water-deficient states for crosstalk-free detection of oxygen and humidity respectively, since O2 gas and water molecules can directly participate in the oxygen reduction reaction in the device and act alone as limiting reactants and catalysts to affect the reaction rate under different hydrogel states. The resulting sensor demonstrates breakthrough O2 and humidity sensing performance with sensitivities as high as 4170.5%/% and 380.2%/% RH in water-rich and water-deficient states, respectively, and ultrawide detection ranges. Thanks to these, the devices can be applied for real-time and remote monitoring of ambient oxygen, transcutaneous oxygen pressure changes, respiration, and skin moisture by combining with wireless communication technology, and therefore have important application prospects in the fields of safety, health management, and non-contact human-machine interaction. © 2025 Wiley-VCH GmbH.

An FEM (Finite Element Method) model, called SteelSim, was developed in order to study the influence of casting parameters and roll alignment on the local deformation of a slab during continuous casting of steel. The model is applied to study Liquid Core Reduction in a thin slab caster. The results presented here show that the model is capable in determining the local distribution of stresses, influenced by roll alignment, which affect the deformation of the narrow face of the slab. Eventually, the model can be utilized for determining the optimal roll configuration and casting conditions (such as: casting speed, cooling, etc.) for a given steel, in order to avoid the formation of casting defects, such as: excessive bulging, segregation, cracking etc., which may lead to bad product quality or even to a catastrophic event such as a breakout.

TiN/ZrO2/TiN capacitors were characterized using XRD, STEM, EDX, and monoenergetic positron beams. For an as-deposited ZrO2 layer, an interlayer was formed in the layer. After post-deposition annealing at 550°C, the width of the interlayer expanded. The major vacancy-type defects in the ZrO2 layer were determined to be a Zr-vacancy coupled with oxygen vacancies by the positron annihilation technique. After annealing, the size of these vacancies increased. The presence of the cation vacancies and their complexes in the ZrO2 layer suggests that not only oxygen vacancies but also such defects play a role in the defect formation of the ZrO2 layer and affect its electrical properties. © 2022 IEEE.

In thiswork,the perovskite LaZnO_(3) was synthesized via sol-gel method and applied for photocatalytic treatment of sulfamethizole(SMZ)antibiotics under visible light *** was almost completely degraded(99.2%±0.3%)within 4 hr by photocatalyst LaZnO_(3) at the optimal dosage of 1.1 g/L,with amineralization proportion of 58.7%±0.4%.The efficient performance of LaZnO_(3) can be attributed to itswide-range light absorption and the appropriate energy band edge levels,which facilitate the formation of active agents such as·O_(2)^(−),h^(+),and·*** integration of RP-HPLC/Q-TOF-MS and DFT-based computational techniques revealed three degradation pathways of SMZ,which were initiated by the deamination reaction at the aniline ring,the breakdown of the sulfonamidemoieties,and a process known as Smile-type rearrangement and SO2 *** toxicity of SMZ and the intermediateswere analyzed by quantitative structure activity relationship(QSAR),indicating the effectiveness of LaZnO_(3)-based photocatalysis in preventing secondary pollution of the intermediates to the ecosystem during the degradation *** visible-light-activated photocatalyst LaZnO_(3) exhibited efficient performance in the occurrence of inorganic anions and maintained high durability across multiple recycling tests,making it a promising candidate for practical antibiotic treatment.

Several theories and program codes were developed for large-scale atomistic simulations with fully quantum mechanical description of electron systems. The fundamental concepts are generalized Wannier state and Krylov subspace. Test calculations were carried out with upto 106 atoms using a standard workstation. How electronic state is described in large-scale calculation was demonstrated on Si(001)-(2×1) surface. As a practical application, cleavage fracture of silicon was simulated with 10-nm-scale samples for investigating its nanoscale mechanical behavior. Discussions are focused on the unstable (001) cleavage mode and the stable (experimentally observed) (111)-(2×1) cleavage mode. As well as elementary surface reconstruction, step formation and bending in cleavage path were observed. These results were compared with experiments, such as scanning tunneling microscope (STM).
