Errors in data transmission cannot be known directly when the data transmission process is fulfilled, but error is often prevalent in data transmission. Faulty or missing frames or bits are standard errors and to control or check errors requires a unique method, in this case, the Stop-and-wait method, Go-Back-N and Selective Reject are methods that can be used to do so, comparison of time of error checking process with Stop-and-wait method, Go-Back-N and Selective Reject is very important to get the right method to check the ignorance, from testing performed that the method of Go-Back-N is much faster than the other methods. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

The origin of Galactic Cosmic rays (GCRs), whose spectrum extends to PeV energies, is one of the longest-standing problems in astroparticle physics. One of the main sources of GCRs are regarded to be Supernova remnants (SNRs). While SNRs are known to accelerate protons, so far there is no evidence that SNRs can accelerate CRs to PeV energies. Providing that 10% of the parent Cosmic ray energy is converted to gamma rays, the gamma-ray spectrum extending up to 100 TeV would be a signature of a so-called Galactic PeVatron, an object responsible for the production of protons up to the knee of the Cosmic ray spectrum. The current multi-wavelength data indicate that HESS J1809-193 is one of the most promising Galactic PeVatron candidates. So far, no firm identification on the source nature has been established as there are several possible counterparts at lower energies;one of them being SNR G11.00.0. We report here the results of an observational campaign performed by the MAGIC telescopes on HESS J1809-193 since 2019 in the very-high-energy gamma-ray domain (E>100 GeV). The data were obtained with the Very Large Zenith Angle (VLZA) technique, which increased the collection area significantly to about one square kilometer. We used 60 hours of collected VLZA data to explore the spectrum and the morphology of the source at energies above several TeV. © 2022 Sissa Medialab Srl. All rights reserved.

Nowadays, messaging technology in digital data form more often used and not less messages that confidentially wanted. Then it should be modified so that can be understood only by the sender and the intended recipients. All of this system can be realization by using cryptography. LUC algorithms are introduced by Smith and Lennon in 1993. LUC algorithm is an algorithm that based on the use of Lucas sequence (specific arithmetic operations derived from Lucas row) that rarely used to enhance the security of the messages. In this research, LUC algorithm is combined with visual cryptography to process the encryption and the description of a colored image. Four different images were used in the trial here. The performance of the system is assessed using Structural similarity (SSIM) which has an assessment similar to human eye. If the image quality is the same as the original image, then the SSIM value is one. Whereas if the quality of decryption image is very different from the original image then the value of SSIM is zero. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Self-repairing graphite protective layer has been discovered as a suitable protective layer in blast furnace (BF) hearth in recent years. In the current study, actual samples of self-repairing graphite protective layer taken from a commercial BF were analyzed in detail. The results revealed that the hot face of graphite protective layer exhibits a distinct white graphite luster, with large areas of graphite adhering to the surface. Along the direction of its formation, the sample displays a striped pattern with alternating layers. The graphite is strip-shaped, it is relatively coarse and unevenly distributed. The coarse graphite runs in the same direction, unlike graphite in molten iron which has no fixed direction in a chaotic state. The formation process of selfrepairing graphite protective layer can be concluded, graphite precipitates at the interface through heterogeneous nucleation. Crystal nuclei often preferentially adhere to the surface of these impurities to form, owing to the fact that the nucleation energy of heterogeneous nucleation is lower than that of homogeneous nucleation. Titanium is discovered during the observation of microscopic morphology of graphite protective layer, graphite protective layer is more robust due to the strengthening effect of titanium. Titanium strengthening mechanism of self-repairing graphite protective layer is summarized, the strengthening mechanism can be divided into four steps. TiC particles are dispersed around graphite, which reduces the difficulty of the orientation of flake graphite growth. The presence of TiC increases the growth rate of crystals. The four steps are cyclically performed, so the self-repairing graphite protective layer can precipitate layer by layer through titanium strengthening mechanism, which serves to protect the carbon brick in BF hearth. © EDP Sciences, 2025.

Kidney dysfunction is a major cause of mortality, but its genetic architecture remains elusive. In this study, we conducted a multiancestry genome-wide association study in 2.2 million individuals and identified 1026 (97 previously unknown) independent loci. Ancestry-specific analysis indicated an attenuation of newly identified signals on common variants in European ancestry populations and the power of population diversity for further discoveries. We defined genotype effects on allele-specific gene expression and regulatory circuitries in more than 700 human kidneys and 237,000 cells. We found 1363 coding variants disrupting 782 genes, with 601 genes also targeted by regulatory variants and convergence in 161 genes. Integrating 32 types of genetic information, we present the "Kidney Disease Genetic Scorecard" for prioritizing potentially causal genes, cell types, and druggable targets for kidney disease.

Inter-comparison of multiple Global Climate Model (GCM) data based on spatial pattern of rainfall over Indonesia

The Coupled Model Inter-comparison Project Phase 5 (CMIP5) is the output of many coupled atmosphere-ocean of global climate models (GCMs) and widely used for climate research, especially for driving regional climate model. There are more than 40 CMIP5 GCMs data available, but no single model can be considered as the best for every region. The use of CMIP5 GCMs data for rainfall projection in Indonesia is important to improve the accuracy of the monthly and seasonal rainfall forecast. Then, this study evaluates the capability of the CMIP5 GCMs data for Indonesia region by quantitatively comparing the spatial pattern of the precipitation mean and standard deviation of the CMIP5 data against GPCP, GPCC, and CRU data in the period 1980-2005. Furthermore, the composite analysis is conducted to observe the model performance in reproducing the precipitation characteristic over some areas in Indonesia. In conclusion, the models NorESM1-M, NorESM1-ME, GFDL-ESM2M, CSIRO-MK3-6-0 perform the rainfall mean better than others, while the standard deviation of the rainfall show that the models NorESM1-M, BNU-ESM, CMCC-CMS are superior in which NorESM1-M gives the best performance. The annual precipitation pattern of the model NorESM1-M over various areas in Indonesia is also highly correlated with the observations. Thus, the most suitable model for Indonesia region is NorESM1-M.

Prior studies suggested that the use of androgen deprivation therapy （ADT） in patients with prostate cancer （PC） might cause the impairment of cognitive function which is one of the common symptoms of dementia; however, the association between ADT and cognitive impairment still remains controversial. This retrospective cohort study aimed to investigate the relationship between ADT and subsequent risk of dementia using a population-based dataset, Data for this study were taken from the Taiwan （China） Longitudinal Health Insurance Database 2005. We included 755 PC patients who received ADT in the study cohort and 559 PC patients who did not receive ADT in the comparison cohort. Each patient was individually tracked for a 5-year period to define those who subsequently received a diagnosis of dementia. Results show that the incidence rates of dementia per 100 person-years were 2.35 （95% confidence interval [95% CI]： 1.82-2.98） and 1.85 （95% Ch 1.35-2.48） for PC patients who received ADT and those who did not receive ADT, respectively. The adjusted hazard ratio （HR） for dementia for PC patients who received ADT was 1.21 （95% Ch 0.82-1.78, P = 0,333） compared to those who did not receive ADT. In addition, the adjusted HRs for dementia for PC patients receiving ADT with gonadotropin-releasing hormone （GnRH） agonists and without GnRH agonists were 1.39 （95% Ch 0.80-2.40, P = 0.240） and 1.13 （95% CI： 0.75-1.71, P = 0.564）, respectively, compared to PC patients not receiving ADT. We concluded that there was no difference in the risk of subsequent dementia between PC patients who did and those who did not receive ADT.

The emergence of SARS-CoV in 2002 and SARS-CoV-2 in 2019 led to increased sampling of sarbecoviruses circulating in horseshoe bats. Employing phylogenetic inference while accounting for recombination of bat sarbecoviruses, we find that the closest-inferred bat virus ancestors of SARS-CoV and SARS-CoV-2 existed less than a decade prior to their emergence in humans. Phylogeographic analyses show bat sarbecoviruses traveled at rates approximating their horseshoe bat hosts and circulated in Asia for millennia. We find that the direct ancestors of SARS-CoV and SARS-CoV-2 are unlikely to have reached their respective sites of emergence via dispersal in the bat reservoir alone, supporting interactions with intermediate hosts through wildlife trade playing a role in zoonotic spillover. These results can guide future sampling efforts and demonstrate that viral genomic regions extremely closely related to SARS-CoV and SARS-CoV-2 were circulating in horseshoe bats, confirming their importance as the reservoir species for SARS viruses. © 2025 The Authors

The supernova remnant (SNR) G106.3+2.7 associated with a 100 TeV gamma-ray source reported by HAWC, Tibet ASγ, and LHAASO Collaborations is one of the promising PeVatron candidates. Because the SNR contains an energetic pulsar wind nebula (PWN) dubbed Boomerang powered by the pulsar PSR J2229+6114, it is unclear whether the gamma-ray emission originates from the SNR or PWN complex and whether it is caused by hadronic or leptonic processes. We observed gamma rays above 200 GeV in the vicinity of the SNR G106.3+2.7 using the MAGIC telescopes for total ∼ 120 hours between May 2017 and August 2019 with an angular resolution of 0.07-0.10 degrees, achieving an unprecedented exposure for this object at these energies. An extended gamma-ray emission spatially correlated with the radio continuum emission at the head and tail of SNR G106.3+2.7 was detected using the MAGIC telescopes. We found a significant gamma-ray emission above 5.65 TeV only from the SNR tail region, while no significant emission in the same band is found at the SNR head region containing the Boomerang PWN. Therefore, the gamma rays above 10 TeV detected with the air shower experiments are, likely, mainly emitted from the SNR tail region.
