Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) may allow for the state of equipment to be monitored and defects to be detected before they become serious, helping smart factories keep up with the rising demands for safety and efficiency brought on by worldwide competition. In the case of Cloud Computing, data-driven approaches implemented in the cloud are used to first train the model using a vast quantity of raw data, and then end-machines send their real-time readings for processing at the cloud data centre. It is possible, however, that this will impose a significant delay and a high computational cost. In this study, we take into account a hierarchical structure in which edge-PLCs are used to collect sensed data locally and lessen the burden on long-distance connections. Due to the fact that a single responsibility may be associated with multiple swaying topographies, we aim to first reduce the sum of features required to identify a fault, and then identify the smallest possible set of edge-PLCs that still accounts for all of the most important ones, all while keeping deployment costs to a minimum. To address this, we present an Enhanced Harris Hawkins Optimization (EHHO) approach to tackling the features selection issue, followed by the assortment of edge-PLCs through the set coverage problematic. The model named Residual Attention Neural Network (RANN) is proposed the in this study to forecast the fault detection procedure. Residual Neural Network (ResNet) is used by RANN to help diagnose problems, alongside the knowledge of experts. We evaluate the performance of our technique in comparison to existing AI-based approaches, such as the lregression model and its expansions, by simulating on a real data trail. The findings confirm competence and presentation of the suggested approach, which meets or even surpasses the correctness of approaches employing the entire collection of data.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) seems to be a disruptive technology that defines and reshapes the economy, more efficient industrial processes, new business models, and the service sector, becoming the development of different practices than before. The literature shows that it will be included in all fields and people's lives, as is the case in the digital economy. Artificial Intelligence for Digital Economy has not been studied significantly. This study uses bibliometric analysis to graphically map scientific publications and research trends in the Artificial Intelligence for Digital Economy sector around the world in the last ten years. The Scopus database was used to collect metadata information for this study, and VOSViewer was used to demonstrate bibliometric network mapping. We use an article selection procedure starting with the searched keywords and year constraints and then exporting the database to a RIS file format. Over the last ten years, we retrieved 540 scientific publications published between 2012 and 2021 from the Scopus database. From the data obtained, researchers at the Russian Federation have the most published papers indexed by Scopus among the most productive countries (N=131), the most productive authors are Petrenko, S.A. (N=4), and the most subject area is computer science (N=246). We also use VOSViewer to map the Network Theme. This study recommends incorporating research subjects Artificial Intelligence for Digital Economy: Thing, Education, Platform, Global Economy, abbreviated as TEPGE research theme. © 2022 IEEE.

This article proposes a novel strategy for detecting humans in harsh Sub-terranean (SubT) environments, with a thermal camera mounted on an aerial platform, based on the AlexNet Convolutional Neural Network (CNN). A transfer learning framework will be utilized for detecting the humans, where the aerial thermal images are fed to the trained network, which binary classifies them image content into two categories: a) human, and b) no human. Moreover, the AlexNet based framework is compared with two related popular CNN approaches as the GoogleNet and the Inception3Net. The efficacy of the proposed scheme has been experimentally evaluated through multiple data-sets, collected from a FLIR thermal camera during flights on an underground mining environment, fully demonstrating the performance and merits of the proposed module. © 2021 IEEE.

This paper introduces for the first time the design, modelling, and control of a novel morphing multirotor Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) that we call the OmniMorph. The morphing ability allows the selection of the configuration that optimizes energy consumption while ensuring the needed maneuverability for the required task. The most energy-efficient uni-directional thrust (UDT) configuration can be used, e.g., during standard point-to-point displacements. Fully-actuated (FA) and omnidirectional (OD) configurations can be instead used for full pose tracking, such as, e.g., constant attitude horizontal motions and full rotations on the spot, and for full wrench 6D interaction control and 6D disturbance rejection. Morphing is obtained using a single servomotor, allowing possible minimization of weight, costs, and maintenance complexity. The actuation properties are studied, and an optimal controller that compromises between performance and control effort is proposed and validated in realistic simulations. Searching for symbolic models plays an important role in a wide range of domains such as neural architecture search and automatic program synthesis. Genetic programming is a promising stochastic method for searching effective symbolic models within an acceptable time. The genetic programming performance is closely related to the hardness of the fitness landscape. A better fitness landscape with less local optima normally implies that it is easier to search for better solutions. In recent years, there have been many studies enhancing genetic programming performance by forming better fitness landscapes. However, the better design of the fitness landscape highly relies on specific domain knowledge and consumes a lot of expert effort. This paper proposes a fitness landscape optimization method to automatically design better fitness landscapes for genetic programming search than the manually designed ones. We optimize the landscapes by optimizing the neighborhood structures of symbolic solutions. We verify the effectiveness of the proposed method in both supervised learning and combinatorial optimization problems. The results show that the proposed method significantly reduces the hardness of fitness landscapes. By simply searching against the automatically optimized fitness landscapes, a genetic programming method can have a very competitive performance with state-of-the-art methods. © 1997-2012 IEEE.

Communication-efficient Vertical Federated Learning via Compressed Error Feedback

Communication overhead is a known bottleneck in federated learning (FL). To address this, lossy compression is commonly used on the information communicated between the server and clients during training. In horizontal FL, where each client holds a subset of the samples, such communication-compressed training methods have recently seen significant progress. However, in their vertical FL counterparts, where each client holds a subset of the features, our understanding remains limited. To address this, we propose an error feedback compressed vertical federated learning (EF-VFL) method to train split neural networks. In contrast to previous communication-compressed methods for vertical FL, EF-VFL does not require a vanishing compression error for the gradient norm to converge to zero for smooth nonconvex problems. By leveraging error feedback, our method can achieve a O(1/T) convergence rate for a sufficiently large batch size, improving over the state-of-the-art O(1/√T) rate under O(1/√T) compression error, and matching the rate of uncompressed methods. Further, when the objective function satisfies the Polyak-Lojasiewicz inequality, our method converges linearly. In addition to improving convergence, our method also supports the use of private labels. Numerical experiments show that EF-VFL significantly improves over the prior art, confirming our theoretical results. Exams are an important component of any educational program, including online education. In any test, there is a possibility of cheating, so its detection and prevention is important. This study aims to conduct an in-depth study of the online exam monitoring model approach based on facial recognition used to detect cheating. Based on the inclusion and exclusion criteria designed, 13 selected studies were obtained. From these studies, we conducted further analysis regarding the Face Detection Method, Face Recognition Method, Initial Feature, Behavior Analysis and Evaluation Metrics used in each study so as to provide answers to research questions. the most frequently used Face detection method was Viola-Jones with a presentation of 20%, then CNN and MTCNN with a total presentation of 21%. The most widely used face recognition method in selected studies is CNN and metrics Accuracy is one of the most frequently used evaluations with a percentage of 33%. While the features that are usually used to detect cheating during online exams include facial motion and head pose which occupies the first position. The second is eye movement, then multiple faces gaze estimation and facial expression is in third place. Other features that also play a role in analyzing cheating behavior are mouth detection, facial vector, landmark location, gesture and posture.

Industrial Control systems (ICS) automate industrial processes but also introduces cybersecurity threats. Intrusion Detection System (IDS) are crucial for detecting cyber-attacks on ICS, yet zero-day attacks are often inefficiently detecting with supervised learning. This study employs semi-supervised learning using one-class SVM, isolation forest, and Local Outlier Factor (LOF), to train IDS models. Utilizing dataset collected from a self-build virtual ICS environment, the study demonstrates the feasibility of these models in detecting common attack like Injection, ARP, and Man-in-the-Middle.

This paper describes additions and enhancements we made to the standard RRT-Connect motion planning algorithm to suit the unique needs of operating the robotic arm on the Perseverance Mars Rover. One constraint we have is to maintain a minimum distance between the terrain and any part of the arm hardware. Another goal specific to rover planning is to minimize the number of viapoints in our motion plans. These algorithms should also run efficiently so that rover planners can generate arm motion sequences in time for uplink windows. We applied the RRT-Connect algorithm to the rover’s robotic arm and tested its performance, and we found that it could be used successfully for rover planning with a few changes. First, we implemented the terrain clearance requirement using a software tool called Proximeter. Second, we simplify the paths computed by RRT-Connect to minimize the number of viapoints in a motion plan. Third, we leverage Proximeter to reduce the number of expensive terrain collision checks done by the algorithm, speeding up motion planning.

Cobalt titanate, CoTiO3, is a honeycomb antiferromagnet recently confirmed experimentally to host Dirac magnons, topological spin-orbit excitons, and chiral phonons. Here, we investigate a magnon gap at the zone center which calls for a refined spin Hamiltonian. We propose a microscopic model for the magnon gap and attribute it to a lattice-distortion (phonon)-induced higher-order spin interaction. Strong magnetoelastic coupling in CoTiO3 is also evident in Raman spectra, in which the magnetic order exerts a stronger influence on phonons corresponding to in-plane ionic motions than those with out-of-plane motions. We further examine the evolution of the zone-center magnons in a high magnetic field up to 18.5 T via THz absorption spectroscopy measurements. Based on this field dependence, we propose a spin Hamiltonian that not only agrees with magnon dispersion measured by inelastic neutron scattering but also includes fewer exchange constants and a realistic anisotropy term. Our work highlights the broad implications of magnetoelastic coupling in the study of topologically protected bosonic excitations.
