The Internet of Things (IoTs) have become ubiquitous in all aspects of public needs today. The application of IoT technology is crucial for promoting energy-saving behavior. This paper presents a control system used for smart home devices based on hand gesture control and Android applications. The hardware design uses the ESP32 microcontroller, which has an in-chip Wi-Fi module, making it very suitable for creating IoT application systems. The software was designed using the Arduino IDE, and the application display design was developed using Kodular Creator, which is used to control the lamps and switches. The experiment results show that the electrical equipment can be activated using the Android application with gesture sensors by waving down, up, left, and right. © 2023 IEEE.

The sugar industry is facing challenges in increasing productivity to meet consumer demand. One opportunity for productivity improvement lies in ensuring sugar content. This study proposes a hybrid model to predict sugar content by considering uncertainty factors. A hybrid model combining fuzzy subtractive clustering, and a fuzzy inference system is proposed to predict sugar content. The clustering results using silhouette and fuzzy subtractive clustering successfully identified 6 cluster centres from 2225 datasets collected in a sugar industry in East Java Province. The hybrid inference engine model is designed with fuzzy rules derived from the clustered data. Two inference models are developed: triangular and Gaussian fuzzy numbers. The testing results indicate that the hybrid model with triangular fuzzy numbers shows the smallest error with an R2 value of 0.95. This model is possible to applied in the sugar industry for decision makers in improving productivity with taking attention into uncertain factors influencing sugar content. © 2024 The Authors.

The effect of the cyclic curricular design of modelling-based instruction with virtual labs

One issue facing teachers who implement model-based instruction within the school system is the tight curricular schedule. The ‘lesson objective tension’ calls for investigations to address instructional issues such as how to organise modelling-based instruction at the curriculum level which is across multiple units. We investigated the effect of the cyclic curricular design spacing out three modelling-based instruction units with virtual labs over three semesters, each involving 73, 181, and 150 junior high school students, respectively. Results indicate that, overall, the approach of modelling with virtual labs better promoted students’ scientific literacy than the traditional instruction did. Specifically, students with low and moderate school science achievements benefitted more as shown in their scientific literacy scores than did the high achievement students. Furthermore, this study found that receiving one unit of modelling-based instruction may not be sufficient to promote students’ scientific literacy, whereas the cyclic approach that suggests students receive two or more units of modelling-based instruction with virtual labs spaced over consecutive semesters had significant effects on promoting students’ scientific literacy. The results provide insights into when and how modelling-based learning with virtual labs can promote scientific literacy at a curricular level. © 2023 Informa UK Limited, trading as Taylor & Francis Group.

I have studied how artificial intelligence (AI) or machine learning (ML) is applied in a sustainable system called "Eugenie"for my work, project, and thesis. In this project, I get to discuss Eugenie's role in ensuring the sustainability of large environmental business organizations. I also get to discuss how it aids operation managers in making predictions about when their machines will break down days, weeks, and months in advance, allowing them to schedule maintenance cycles more effectively. In other words, Eugenie provides plant operators with data so they can prioritize repairs. Eugenie executes this process by utilizing real-time data from numerous sensors attached to large machinery and equipment in the process industry, metals and mining, oil and gas, and smart cities industries. Two products make up this program;the first is named RAY-FINN and the second is called PAPILLON. Eugenie assists businesses in a variety of ways, including:•Aids in the attainment of operational excellence by process organizations•Always raise overall profitability.•Contributes to a greener and safer future. © 2023 IEEE.

Modern organizations face rising levels of cyber risks, making cybersecurity a top priority for safeguarding sensitive data and maintaining operational continuity. Recent studies find human factors as the most critical contributors to cyber risks. These human-related risks include user misuse, user mistakes, and user malice. A large proportion of cyber risks arise when hackers use social engineering or phishing techniques to manipulate employees into disclosing confidential information. While some employees knowingly engage in these actions, some incidents occur accidentally due to a lack of awareness about cybersecurity protocols. As a result, governments around the world are enacting data protection legislation aimed at enhancing employees' cyber risk. This study explores the perception of US employees on the effectiveness of data protection legislation in countering cyber threats. It surveyed 30 randomly selected employees from various industries. The results showed that employees perceive data protection legislation as effective in mitigating employeerelated cyber risks. © 2024 IEEE.

Supplier evaluation has a crucial role in maintaining efficiency in the food industry supply chain. Machine learning approaches can be employed to formulate models aimed at analyzing and evaluating supplier performance. Previous research has successfully designed decision tree and neural network models for assessing suppliers in the food industry with accuracies of 84.2% and 92.8% separately. Recognizing the opportunity to improve the model's performance, this study aims to advancing the machine learning models accuracy for analyzing and evaluating suppliers in the food industry. Two main models are proposed to enhance model accuracy: ensemble methods and support vector machine. This research has successfully designed a supplier evaluation model and demonstrated that the ensemble method - gradient boosting model outperforms other ensemble methods and support vector machine which is achieved a accuracy of 93.6% on a cross-validation dataset. The development of a dashboard is required to implement the supplier evaluation model using machine learning, facilitating decision-makers in evaluating and controlling supplier performance. © 2023 The Authors. Stemming, an essential procedure in natural language processing (NLP), diminishes words to their base forms, facilitating tasks such as information retrieval and sentiment analysis. Although stemming techniques for highresource languages are well-developed, numerous low-resource languages, including dialect of Tulang Bawang, suffer from inadequate solutions owing to a scarcity of linguistic data and resources. Existing systems, including rule-based stemmers, have demonstrated efficacy in processing low-resource languages such as Indonesian and Javanese by utilizing established morphological rules. Nonetheless, these methods encounter considerable obstacles, such as restricted adaptability, inability to accommodate unusual root structures, and excessive dependence on fixed rules that might result in over- or understemming. Rule-based methodologies frequently misidentify roots when faced with intricate affixes or unconventional word forms. We introduce an improved rule-based Tulang Bawang Stemmer aimed at overcoming these constraints by enhancing current linguistic rules and integrating new patterns specific to the language's morphology. Assessed on 500 test samples and 200 independent test samples, our improved stemmer attained gold standard evaluation metrics of 96.2% and 94%, respectively, surpassing prior implementations in both precision and generalization. The findings demonstrate the potential of enhanced rule-based techniques to improving NLP for lowresource languages. Improved stemming performance enables better downstream applications, promotes more efficient text analysis, and advances research in underrepresented languages. © 2025 IEEE.

Globally, 210 nations have been affected by the 2019 Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19), which has been classified as a pandemic. The modern health system, as well as the economic, educational, and social sides of society, have all been severely impacted. While the rate of transmission keeps increasing, several cooperative strategies between stakeholders to create cutting-edge methods of screening and detecting COVID-19 instances among people at a comparable rate have been noticed. Also, the importance of computational models connected to the technologies of the fourth industrial revolution in accomplishing the desired feat has been emphasized. Unfortunately, there is a gap in the precision of COVID-19 case detection, prediction, and contact tracking. For patients with COVID-19 in isolation units, teleultrasound (TUS), particularly with the support of fifth generation (5G) wireless transmission technology, can offer rapid monitoring, quick clinical progress assessment, and assistance with guiding interventional procedures. Also, it helps conserve medical resources like equipment and supplies while lowering the risk of infection among medical personnel. The review of computer models presented in this work can be used to improve the effectiveness of COVID-19 pandemic case detection and prediction. We concentrate on adoptable big data, AI, and nature-inspired computing solutions for the current pandemic. According to the review, models inspired by nature have shown strong performance in feature selection for medical problems. In pandemic-related cases like COVID-19, contact tracing using big data analytics should also be investigated. © 2023 IEEE.
