In secret image sharing schemes, all legal participants provide legitimate shared images and then they can extract the correct secret message. Recently, Wu et al. proposed a high quality data hiding secret sharing scheme with authentication ability. The major contribution of this scheme maintains good stego image quality while being able to verify secret message integrity. However, to ensure the process can work, the secret image’s pixel values larger than 250 must be changed to 250 for Wu’s scheme. Otherwise, extracting the secret image may fail. In other words, for a secret image, a few errors do not make the big difference but it could be distorted severely for some sensitive secrets. In order to improve this shortcoming, a secret image sharing scheme based on General Multi-Exploiting Modification Direction (GMEMD) data hiding technology will be proposed in this paper. According to simulation results and analysis, we can show that the stego image quality in Wu et al.’s scheme or our proposed scheme is larger than 43dB. We also demonstrate the authentication capability to find unauthorized participants. Furthermore, if all participants are legitimate, then the proposed scheme can extract the secret completely without any distortion. © Springer International Publishing Switzerland 2016.

The goal of this study is to achieve automatic extrinsic calibration of a camera-LiDAR system that does not require calibration targets. Calibration through maximization of statistical dependence using mutual information (MI) is a promising approach. However, we observed that existing methods perform poorly on outdoor data sets. Because of their susceptibility to noise, objective functions of previous methods tend to be non-smooth, and gradient-based searches fail in local optima. To overcome these issues, we introduce a novel dependence estimator called bagged least-squares mutual information (BLSMI). BLSMI is a combination of methods composed of a kernel-based dependence estimator and noise reduction by bootstrap aggregating (bagging), which can handle richer features and robustly estimate dependence. We compared ours with previous methods using indoor and outdoor data sets, and observed that our method performed best in terms of calibration accuracy. While previous methods showed degraded performance on outdoor data sets because of the local optima problem, our method exhibited high calibration accuracy both on indoor and outdoor data sets. © 2016 IEEE.

A fully homomorphic encryption system hides data from unauthorized parties, while still allowing them to perform computations on the encrypted data. Aside from the straightforward benefit of allowing users to delegate computations to a more powerful server without revealing their inputs, a fully homomorphic cryptosystem can be used as a building block in the construction of a number of cryptographic functionalities. Designing such a scheme remained an open problem until 2009, decades after the idea was first conceived, and the past few years have seen the generalization of this functionality to the world of quantum machines. Quantum schemes prior to the one implemented here were able to replicate some features in particular use-cases often associated with homomor-phic encryption but lacked other crucial properties, for example, relying on continual interaction to perform a computation or leaking information about the encrypted data. We present the first experimental realisation of a quantum fully homomorphic encryption scheme. We further present a toy two-party secure computation task enabled by our scheme. Finally, as part of our implemen-tation, we also demonstrate a post-selective two-qubit linear optical controlled-phase gate with a much higher post-selection success probability (1/2) when compared to alternate implementations, e.g. with post-selective controlled-Z or controlled-X gates (1/9). The development of information and communication technology at this time has touched all sides of life. Almost no side of human life is not touched by this information technology, which is more synonymous with the world of computerization. No exception also with the computerization that is popular in the corporate environment and government agencies. If in ancient times everything was still done manually. However, at this time all leaders and management have realized the importance of this information technology products that can facilitate them in carrying out the day-to-day corporate functions. Decision Making System of goods purchasing is one of the determinants of the accumulation of goods. If the decision is taken right then stockpiling of goods can be avoided. In this thesis the authors designed a web-based system that helps Management in making the decision of the purchase amount of goods. the system was developed by using Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 and using SQL Server database processing applications. The end result of system design is expected to help minimize the accumulation of goods.

We present an efficient anytime motion planner for mobile robots that considers both other dynamic obstacles and uncertainty caused by various sensors and low-level controllers. Our planning algorithm, which is an anytime extension of the Rapidly-exploring Random Belief Tree (RRBT), maintains the best possible path throughout the robot execution, and the generated path gets closer to the optimal one as more computation resources are allocated. We propose a branch-and-bound method to cull out unpromising areas by considering path lengths and uncertainty. We also propose an uncertainty-aware velocity obstacle as a simple local analysis to avoid dynamic obstacles efficiently by finding a collision-free velocity. We have tested our method with three benchmarks that have non-linear measurement regions or potential collisions with dynamic obstacles. By using the proposed methods, we achieve up to five times faster performance given a fixed path cost.

This research paper examined the connectedness of STEM faculty to others both within and across academic departments who might be potential resources for diffusion of Learner-centered practices, and the impact of participants' social networks on their Learner-centered beliefs and practices. The research question under investigation was: To what extent is the degree of social connectedness among faculty within and among STEM departments related to the degree of implementation of Learner-centered practices? Participants were recruited from Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics departments, and from departments in the College of engineering. The sample began with 21 randomly-selected faculty from each department engaged in the STEM instruction of first and second year engineering students. The second level consisted of the colleagues identified by the first level as people they utilize as resources for improving their instruction. The connectedness of faculty in the network was examined using network analysis, focusing on both number of connections, and depth of connections. Attitude and Observation Protocol measures were used as outcomes. Results show that faculty classified as Learner-Centered had deeper and more extensive social networks. Results are discussed in terms of the need for intra- and inter-departmental faculty professional development experiences that both introduce and encourage faculty to trial new tools and techniques, but that also run for the longterm, supporting collaborative organizations of faculty working together to transform early engineering experiences. © American Society for engineering Education, 2016.

We consider the problem of sequentially making decisions that are rewarded by "successes" and "failures" which can be predicted through an unknown relationship that depends on a partially controllable vector of attributes for each instance. The learner takes an active role in selecting samples from the instance pool. The goal is to maximize the probability of success, either after the offline training phase or minimizing regret in online learning. Our problem is motivated by real-world applications where observations are time consuming and/or expensive. With the adaptation of an online Bayesian linear classifier, we develop a knowledge-gradient type policy to guide the experiment by maximizing the expected value of information of labeling each alternative, in order to reduce the number of expensive physical experiments. We provide a finite-time analysis of the estimated error and demonstrate the performance of the proposed algorithm on both synthetic problems and benchmark UCI datasets.

In spite of Anderson’s theorem1, disorder is known to affect superconductivity in conventional s-wave superconductors2–11. In most superconductors, the degree of disorder is fixed during sample preparation. Here we report measurements of the superconducting properties of the two-dimensional gas that forms at the interface between LaAlO3 (LAO) and SrTiO3 (STO) in the (111) crystal orientation, a system that permits in situ tuning of carrier density and disorder by means of a back gate voltage Vg. Like the (001) oriented LAO/STO interface12–15, superconductivity at the (111) LAO/STO interface can be tuned by Vg. In contrast to the (001) interface, superconductivity in these (111) samples is anisotropic, being different along different interface crystal directions, consistent with the strong anisotropy already observed other transport properties at the (111) LAO/STO interface16,17. In addition, we find that the (111) interface samples "remember" the backgate voltage VF at which they are cooled at temperatures near the superconducting transition temperature Tc, even if Vg is subsequently changed at lower temperatures.
