A biopsy is the only diagnostic procedure for accurate histological confirmation of breast cancer. When sonographic placement is not feasible, a Magnetic Resonance Imaging(MRI)-guided biopsy is often preferred. The lack of real-time imaging information and the deformations of the breast make it challenging to bring the needle precisely towards the tumour detected in pre-interventional Magnetic Resonance (MR) images. The current manual MRI-guided biopsy workflow is inaccurate and would benefit from a technique that allows real-time tracking and localisation of the tumour lesion during needle insertion. This paper proposes a robotic setup and software architecture to assist the radiologist in targeting MR-detected suspicious tumours. The approach benefits from image fusion of preoperative images with intraoperative optical tracking of markers attached to the patient's skin. A hand-mounted biopsy device has been constructed with an actuated needle base to drive the tip toward the desired direction. The steering commands may be provided both by user input and by computer guidance. The workflow is validated through phantom experiments. On average, the suspicious breast lesion is targeted with a radius down to 2.3 mm. The results suggest that robotic systems taking into account breast deformations have the potentials to tackle this clinical challenge. Copyright © 2021, The Authors. All rights reserved.

During the preceding decades, human gait analysis has been the center of attention for the scientific community, while the association between gait analysis and overall health monitoring has been extensively reported. Technological advances further assisted in this alignment, resulting in access to inexpensive and remote healthcare services. Various assessment tools, such as software platforms and mobile applications, have been proposed by the scientific community and the market that employ sensors to monitor human gait for various purposes ranging from biomechanics to the progression of functional recovery. The framework presented herein offers a valuable digital biomarker for diagnosing and monitoring Parkinson’s disease that can help clinical experts in the decision-making process leading to corrective planning or patient-specific treatment. More accurate and reliable decisions can be provided through a wide variety of integrated Artificial Intelligence algorithms and straightforward visualization techniques, including, but not limited to, heatmaps and bar plots. The framework consists of three core components: the insole pair, the mobile application, and the cloud-based platform. The insole pair deploys 16 plantar pressure sensors, an accelerometer, and a gyroscope to acquire gait data. The mobile application formulates the data for the cloud platform, which orchestrates the component interaction through the web application. Utilizing open communication protocols enables the straightforward replacement of one of the core components with a relative one (e.g., a different model of insoles), transparently from the end user, without affecting the overall architecture, resulting in a framework with the flexibility to adjust its modularity. © 2022, CC BY.

The reconstruction of surface mesh from point cloud is compute-intensive but also very important step in the remanufacturing and personalization industries. With more 3D scanners providing lower cost and higher resolution, further detailed point clouds can be gathered without so much effort as before. In manufacturing, there are databases which contain the origin 3D design models of the products. How to utilize the design model data for swift production of related products remains a problem for remanufacturing and customization. In order to develop a knowledge-based way of handling this problem, editing or deforming an existing mesh to match the target is an effective way of easing the workload. In this paper, we introduce a divide-and -conquer process which segments the depth scan data and then find the best match in the database as its source of deformation. The segmentation is performed on 3D point level using global features extracted by 3D CNN. After that we find best match to our knowledge with the same features to acquire a fast meshing of the target object by deforming the existing parts from the match. The deformation of parts are being done sequentially. For further performance improvement, we present a deformation training method employing transfer learning on segment editing process. © 2020 IEEE.

Efficient State Abstraction using Object-centered Predicates for Manipulation Planning

The definition of symbolic descriptions that consistently represent relevant geometrical aspects in manipulation tasks is a challenging problem that has received little attention in the robotic community. This definition is usually done from an observer perspective of a finite set of object relations and orientations that only satisfy geometrical constraints to execute experiments in laboratory conditions. This restricts the possible changes with manipulation actions in the object configuration space to those compatible with that particular external reference definitions, which greatly limits the spectrum of possible manipulations. To tackle these limitations we propose an object-centered representation that permits characterizing a much wider set of possible changes in configuration spaces than the traditional observer perspective counterpart. Based on this representation, we define universal planning operators for picking and placing actions that permits generating plans with geometric and force consistency in manipulation tasks. This object-centered description is directly obtained from the poses and bounding boxes of objects using a novel learning mechanisms that permits generating signal-symbols relations without the need of handcrafting these relations for each particular scenario. The wireless visual sensor network(WVSN)as a new emerged intelligent visual system,has been applied in many video monitoring ***,there is still great challenge because of the limited wireless network *** resolve the problem,we propose a real-time dynamic texture approach which can detect and reduce the temporal redundancy during many successive image ***,an adaptively learning background model is improved to discover successive similar image frames from the inputting video ***,the dynamic texture model based on the singular value decomposition is adopted to distinguish foreground and background element ***,a background discarding strategy based on visual motion coherence is proposed to determine whether each image frame is streamed or *** evaluate the trade-off performance of the proposed method,it is tested on the CDW-2014 dataset,which can accurately detect the first foreground frame when the moving objects of interest appear in the field of view in the most tested dynamic scenes,and the misdetection rate of the undetected foreground frames is near to *** to the original stream,it can reduce the occupied bandwidth a lot and its computational cost is relatively lower than the state-of-the-art methods.

This article presents a 7-bit wideband passive attenuator with low insertion loss (IL) and high attenuation accuracy in 55-nm CMOS technology. The $\pi $ -type and bridge-T-type attenuation units utilize an effective capacitive compensation technique, whose bandwidth extension mechanism is detailed in a single-unit pole-zero analysis. The matching-induced performance deterioration is investigated to minimize amplitude and phase errors at the chip level. The fabricated attenuator demonstrates a 32.4-dB attenuation range with a 0.255-dB resolution and a 3.5-8.4-dB IL from dc to 32 GHz. The measured root-mean-square (rms) amplitude and phase errors are below 0.32 dB and 5.33°, respectively. The attenuator occupies a 0.054-mm2 core area and consumes negligible power. © 1963-2012 IEEE.

This study presents a novel, integrated modeling framework that combines machine learning (ML) techniques with physics-based approaches to forecast both CO 2 emissions and global temperature anomalies. Unlike prior research that typically addresses these components in isolation, this work concurrently applies and compares five advanced ML models—Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM), Extreme Gradient Boosting (XGBoost), Convolutional Neural Network (CNN), Facebook Prophet, and a hybrid CNN-LSTM—alongside two physics-based models: a zero-dimensional Energy Balance Model (EBM) and a simplified General Circulation Model (GCM) adapted from NASA's GISS *** monthly global datasets from January 2000 to April 2024, obtained from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and the Scripps Institution of Oceanography, the models are evaluated based on predictive accuracy (RMSE, MSE, MAE, R 2 ), scalability, and interpretability. Prophet demonstrated the highest accuracy for CO 2 emission forecasting (RMSE = 0.035), while LSTM achieved the best performance in temperature anomaly prediction (RMSE = 0.086). Physics-based models provided interpretable and computationally efficient long-term projections but lacked short-term *** facilitate reproducibility and practical application, we developed ClimateChange-ML, an open-source software package that implements all proposed models, includes trained weights, and provides full documentation and visualization *** novelty of this work lies in its dual-modeling strategy and comprehensive comparative evaluation, highlighting the complementary strengths of data-driven and physically grounded methods. This integrated approach offers a more holistic framework for climate forecasting across multiple temporal scales, providing valuable insights for both scientific understanding and climate policy planning.

Diabetes poses a considerable global health challenge,with varying levels of diabetes knowledge among healthcare professionals,highlighting the importance of diabetes *** Language Models(LLMs)provide new insights into diabetes training,but their performance in diabetes-related queries remains uncertain,especially outside the English language like *** first evaluated the performance of ten LLMs:ChatGPT-3.5,ChatGPT-4.0,Google Bard,LlaMA-7B,LlaMA2-7B,Baidu ERNIE Bot,Ali Tongyi Qianwen,MedGPT,HuatuoGPT,and Chinese LlaMA2-7B on diabetes-related queries,based on the Chinese National Certificate Examination for Primary Diabetes Care in China(NCE-CPDC)and the English Specialty Certificate Examination in Endocrinology and Diabetes of Membership of the Royal College of Physicians of the United ***,we assessed the training of primary care physicians(PCPs)without and with the assistance of ChatGPT-4.0 in the NCE-CPDC examination to ascertain the reliability of LLMs as medical *** found that ChatGPT-4.0 outperformed other LLMs in the English examination,achieving a passing accuracy of 62.50%,which was significantly higher than that of Google Bard,LlaMA-7B,and *** the NCE-CPFC examination,ChatGPT-4.0,Ali Tongyi Qianwen,Baidu ERNIE Bot,Google Bard,MedGPT,and ChatGPT-3.5 successfully passed,whereas LlaMA2-7B,HuatuoGPT,Chinese LLaMA2-7B,and LlaMA-7B ***-4.0(84.82%)surpassed all PCPs and assisted most PCPs in the NCE-CPDC examination(improving by 1%–6.13%).In summary,LLMs demonstrated outstanding competence for diabetes-related questions in both the Chinese and English language,and hold great potential to assist future diabetes training for physicians globally.

although online education has improved efficiency of learners' access to high-quality educational resources, realtime interaction between instructors and learners have not yet been achieved in online personalized learning. intelligent Tutoring systems (ITS) provides a feasible way to realize realtime personalized learning guidance and resource recommendations by applying AI to capture and analyze online learners' characteristics and behaviors. In this paper, reviews and trends of ITS are discussed and three challenges of ITS research development are pointed out: learner model, guidance mechanism and human-computer interaction mechanism. In order to address these issues, parallel intelligence theory is introduced and a parallel intelligence education based ITS framework is proposed. © 2020 IEEE.

Nowadays, AI education from Kindergarten to 9th grade(K-9) is in full swing in China, but many challenges exist, such as fragmented AI curricula, ineffective teaching tools, and uneven educational resources in urban and rural areas, etc. So this paper presents an in-depth study of the current status of K-9 AI education in Qingdao area through questionnaires, expert discussions, and field visits to sort out existing problems and then put forward corresponding advice and suggestions. Collected data is then analyzed from the perspectives of government, schools, teachers, students and parents, respectively. Results show that AI-related educational activities have been carried out in Qingdao area to improve students' AI literacy. But efforts are still needed to make such education more systematic, standardized, and personalized. Finally the paper made a list of recommendations corresponding to these needed efforts. © 2020 IEEE.
