Global Navigation satellite systems (GNSS) can provide real-time positioning information for outdoor users, but cannot for indoor scenarios or heavily occluded outdoor scenarios. Strap-down Inertial Navigation System (SINS) are widely used to locate people in complex interior or heavily occluded outdoor scenarios due to its light weight and low power consumption. However, IMU of SINS are noisy, and the sampling data error is large, which is a divergence of the error with time. Therefore, it will generate a positioning accumulation error, which affects the final positioning accuracy. The problem of cumulative IMU errors is usually dealt with by Zero-Velocity Update (ZUPT). The zero-velocity detection part of basic ZUPT method usually uses a single threshold to determine the gait of pedestrian, which often has the problem of gait misjudgment and omission. To address these problems, this paper proposes a composite conditional detection method to solve the problem of misjudgment in the zero-velocity interval. In addition, we redesign the zero-velocity update algorithm and uses the Cubature Kalman filter (CKF) for pedestrian positioning error correction. The experimental results demonstrate that the proposed ZUPT method based on dual-threshold detection can better detect the interval between pedestrian motion and stationery than ones with single threshold. The zero-velocity update algorithm based on CKF has higher performance than conventional EKF and UKF methods, which constrains the cumulative error of SINS to about 0.2% of the whole walking distance.

Accurate localization of robots in a specific environment often requires the cooperation of multiple sensors, and how to establish a more general data fusion model is always a difficult problem. For the localization of robot fish in an indoor pool environment, this paper proposes an adaptive fusional algorithm based on fuzzy inference of dynamic weights. This paper firstly constructs a confidence probability table of sensors' signals based on the calibration data sets of BLE and UWB nodes at different distances, as the basis for updating the weights of the BLE or UWB nodes;secondly, the data obtained by each node in a single sampling period in the robot fish movement is vectorized to form a judgment matrix, and then the estimated distance is obtained by fuzzy inference together with the sensor weight;finally, the coordinates are calculated by the four-point positioning method. In this paper, more than 40 sets of experiments have been carried out with a simplified carangidae-like robot fish. The results show that the average positioning error is about 0.189m, which is 88.3% and 31.8% lower than that of using BLE only and using UWB only. In this paper, the fusional positioning method based on statistics combines the advantages of different sensors to reduce the data scale and achieve data denoising while fusing sensor data, which provides a reference for indoor positioning of robot fish and multi-sensor data fusion. © 2021 IEEE

In this paper, a new constrained cost value iteration (CCVI) adaptive dynamic programming (ADP) algorithm is developed to solve optimal control problems with constrained cost function. The CCVI algorithm is initialized by a feasible control law, and the cost function of this initial feasible control constitutes the constraint condition in the policy update step. The convergence and optimality of the CCVI are analyzed. Furthermore, the feasibility of any iterative control law and the on-line evolving control law are proven. It is emphasized that the feasibility of any iterative control law and the on-line evolving control law guarantee that the CCVI algorithm can be used in situations where the cost function constraint is extremely important. Finally, a simulation example is given to verify the effect of the developed algorithm. © 2021 IEEE

Machine learning in fine art paintings is attracting increasing attention recently. Image captioning of paintings is of great importance for painting analysis, but it is rarely studied. The paintings have abstract expressions and lack annotated datasets, leading to the data-hungry problem in painting captioning. Thus, painting captioning has more significant challenges than photographic image captioning. This paper makes a novel attempt at generating content descriptions of paintings. We generate virtual paintings using the style transfer technique to deal with the data-hungry problem, then train the painting captioning model via a two-step manner. We evaluate our method on an annotated small-scale painting captioning dataset and demonstrate our improvements. © 2021 IEEE.

In recent years, numerous technological advancements in Artificial Generative Intelligences (AGIs) have demonstrated significant potential to transform the intelligence acquisition mechanisms in connected autonomous vehicles (CAVs). Integrating technologies like ChatGPT into CAVs can enhance human-machine interactions. However, the emergence of such new traffic entities may introduce unforeseen hallucinations and complex risks that surpass our current understanding. To address these challenges, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) and prompt engineering technologies are being explored to enhance the reliability and safety of autonomous driving systems. RAG retrieves relevant contextual information, such as driving experiences and real-time road network status, from external databases to ensure that foundation models have access to accurate and timely data for informed decision-making. Prompt engineering optimizes the performance of large language models in autonomous driving systems by designing and refining prompts that guide the models’ responses, thereby improving their relevance and accuracy in various driving scenarios. Together, these technologies enhance the robustness and trustworthiness of autonomous driving systems. This paper proposes DriveRP, a framework that integrates RAG and prompt engineering within the Descriptive-Predictive-Prescriptive Intelligence framework of Parallel Driving theory. DriveRP aims to enhance the safety and interpretability of autonomous vehicle trajectory planning, decision-making, and motion control, ultimately achieving the "6S" goals. Grounded in Digital Twins and Metaverse-embodied parallel driving theory, DriveRP provides the infrastructure and foundational intelligence for parallel driving with Multi-modal Large Lange Models(MLLMs). Additionally, the paper discusses future trends and potential research directions, focusing on the "6S" goals of parallel driving: Smart, Safe, Secure, Sensitive, Sustainable, and Serviceable.

Social engineering (SE) attacks remain a significant threat to both individuals and organizations. The advancement of Artificial Intelligence (AI), including diffusion models and large language models (LLMs), has potentially intensified these threats by enabling more personalized and convincing attacks. This survey paper categorizes SE attack mechanisms, analyzes their evolution, and explores methods for measuring these threats. It highlights the challenges in raising awareness about the risks of AI-enhanced SE attacks and offers insights into developing proactive and adaptable defense strategies. Additionally, we introduce a categorization of the evolving nature of AI-powered social engineering attacks into"3E phases": Enlarging, wherein the magnitude of attacks expands through the leverage of digital media;Enriching, introducing novel attack vectors and techniques;and Emerging, signifying the advent of novel threats and methods. Moreover, we emphasize the necessity for a robust framework to assess the risk of AI-powered SE attacks. By identifying and addressing gaps in existing research, we aim to guide future studies and encourage the development of more effective defenses against the growing threat of AI-powered social engineering. VistaScenario: Interaction Scenario Engineering for Vehicles with Intelligent systems for Transport Automation

Intelligent vehicles and autonomous driving systems rely on scenario engineering for intelligence and index (I&I), calibration and certification (C&C), and verification and validation (V&V). To extract and index scenarios, various vehicle interactions are worthy of much attention, and deserve refined descriptions and labels. However, existing methods cannot cope well with the problem of scenario classification and labeling with vehicle interactions as the core. In this paper, we propose VistaScenario framework to conduct interaction scenario engineering for vehicles with intelligent systems for transport automation. Based on the summarized basic types of vehicle interactions, we slice scenario data stream into a series of segments via spatiotemporal scenario evolution tree. We also propose the scenario metric Graph-DTW based on Graph Computation Tree and Dynamic Time Warping to conduct refined scenario comparison and labeling. The extreme interaction scenarios and corner cases can be efficiently filtered and extracted. Moreover, with naturalistic scenario datasets, testing examples on trajectory prediction model demonstrate the effectiveness and advantages of our framework. VistaScenario can provide solid support for the usage and indexing of scenario data, further promote the development of intelligent vehicles and transport automation. Copyright © 2024, The Authors. FIT: Frequency-based Image Translation for Domain Adaptive Object Detection

Domain adaptive object detection (DAOD) aims to adapt the detector from a labelled source domain to an unlabelled target domain. In recent years, DAOD has attracted massive attention since it can alleviate performance degradation due to the large shift of data distributions in the wild. To align distributions between domains, adversarial learning is widely used in existing DAOD methods. However, the decision boundary for the adversarial domain discriminator may be inaccurate, causing the model biased towards the source domain. To alleviate this bias, we propose a novel Frequency-based Image Translation (FIT) framework for DAOD. First, by keeping domain-invariant frequency components and swapping domain-specific ones, we conduct image translation to reduce domain shift at the input level. Second, hierarchical adversarial feature learning is utilized to further mitigate the domain gap at the feature level. Finally, we design a joint loss to train the entire network in an end-to-end manner without extra training to obtain translated images. Extensive experiments on three challenging DAOD benchmarks demonstrate the effectiveness of our method. Copyright © 2023, The Authors. All rights reserved.

In the case of scarce communication resources, the importance of different vehicle communication levels is self-evident. They not only affect the efficiency of information exchange between vehicles and driving safety, but also directly affect the rational allocation and utilization of communication resources. Therefore, this paper proposes a signal detection method based on vehicle social relationship strength (SRS) in vehicular ad-hoc networks (VANETs) scenario, and integrates the SRS information into the data to be transmitted. In this method, minimum mean square error (MMSE) signal detection algorithm is selected for simulation, and Rayleigh channel and Rician channel are selected for simulation scenarios. This method makes full use of the intensity of social relationship between vehicles, and realizes the efficient transmission of data and the accurate transmission of communication level. Experimental verification shows that the method performs well in the VANETs scenario, and provides a new communication method for intelligent transportation, social network and other applications, which is expected to promote the technical progress and application development in related fields.
