The development of artificial general intelligence (AGI) and metaverse technologies hold great potential to enhance the effectiveness of smart cities and societies. we present a cyberphysical-social approach to integrating AGI into metaverse-based smart cities and societies, with a specific focus on parallel intelligence. The proposed approach considers the interplay between the physical environment, digital systems, social dynamics, and emerging forms of parallel intelligence, as well as swarm intelligence and collective intelligence. By leveraging these forms of parallel intelligence, the integration of AGI can create more responsive and proactive infrastructure, personalized and efficient services, and foster greater community engagement. The metaverse acts as a platform for simulating real-world scenarios and testing and refining AGI models before deployment in the physical world, while also facilitating the development and coordination of parallel intelligence. However, ethical considerations must be taken into account to ensure responsible deployment and avoid exacerbating existing societal inequalities or infringing upon individual privacy rights. This report provides a comprehensive framework for the integration of AGI and parallel intelligence into metaverse-based digital and smart organizations, while emphasizing the importance of human ethics, social responsibility, and ecological sustainability.

In this paper, two blockchain-based consensus mechanisms are proposed for distributed control systems, those are the proof-of-work-based (PoW-based) and proof-of-stake-based (PoS-based) consensus mechanisms. The basic idea and process of these blockchain-based consensus mechanisms are introduced, giving rise to the dynamic, impartial and efficient consensus compared with the consensus protocol achieved by traditional control theories. © 2021 IEEE.

Environment perception is one of the most crucial modules in a self-driving system. In an open subway environment, pedestrians, equipment boxes and other unknown obstacles often appear. The perception module is required to quickly and accurately recognize the obstacle and measures the corresponding distance data. This paper proposes a detection and ranging fusion method based on one Lidar and two different focal length cameras, which be applied in the subway system, to alert drivers to possible obstacles and assist brake. First, the relative transformation between Lidar and camera is calibrated to find the intrinsic and extrinsic matrices. Modified SSD network is trained on the self-built dataset to detect the potential obstacle and produces the final detection bounding box. Then, rail track segmentation network RailNet is applied to obtain rail shape features, which offers a region of interest (ROI) for sensing systems in point cloud clustering algorithms. Further, the fusion information is utilized to estimate the distance of objects detected by the SSD detector. The proposed method can realize real-time pedestrian detection and range on the onboard embedded platform Jetson Xavier, which satisfies the subway environment's perception requirements. © 2021 IEEE.

A novel parallel output regulation method is presented in this paper. The framework of the parallel output regulation problem is first introduced. Then, the existence of parallel controller is analyzed detailly in the situation that only the measurable information is obtained. Finally, the simulation example is given to show the performance of the presented method.

With the increasing number of earth observation satellites and observation demands, satellite mission planning is facing huge challenges. For traditional satellite mission planning methods, there are problems such as difficulty in modeling, high computational complexity, and low scalability. This paper proposes a satellite mission planning method based on Deep Q-Learning. Firstly, a hybrid satellite mission planning model is established that combines the constraint-satisfaction model, the 0-1 knapsack model and the Markov decision model. Then, the decision algorithm based on Deep Q-Learning is used to solve the problem, so that the satellite can make full use of the past mission planning experience to learn the optimal planning strategy. Finally, several traditional satellite mission planning methods-branch and bound algorithm, genetic algorithm, simulated annealing algorithm are compared, and various performances of the algorithms are tested and analyzed through simulation experiments. The superiority of this method is verified. © 2021 IEEE.

Aiming at limited communication and energy re-sources in wireless sensor networks (WSN s), this paper proposes an energy management scheme of WSNs via adaptive dynamic programming (ADP) based on event-triggered mecha-nism (ETM). The optimal control strategy obtained by iteration can schedule the sensor nodes and make the nodes switch between working and sleeping situations, thus improving the energy utilization and extending the service life of the energy-constrained WSNs. Firstly, the mathematical model of WSNs is established, and the state is estimated by extended Kalman filter (EKF) algorithm to improve the measurement accuracy. Then, ADP solves the designed value function to achieve the scheduling plan. On the premise of system stability, ETM is applied to activate the controller on demand, which can reduce communication burden and save WSNs energy consumption. Finally, the simulation experiment reveals that the proposed algorithm can reduce the unnecessary triggering times of the controller effectively while ensuring the requirements, and avoid data congestion and interaction resource waste.

Improved Interpolation with Sub-Pixel Relocation Method for Strong Barrel Distortion

In this paper, we propose an improved interpolation method with sub-pixel relocation method to correct fisheye images with strong barrel distortion. The proposed method takes as inputs the fisheye image and the projection model, and outputs the corrected perspective image. In the method, we project the fisheye image pixels to perspective image plane using the backward projection. The projected pixels are treated as scatter data and their location is refined by the sub-pixel relocation method. The method is designed to aim at the subpixel bias phenomenon of the projected *** sub-pixel relocation method relocates the projected pixel centers to the centers of the projected pixels. Then the relocated points are meshed by the Voronoi diagram method to select the neighbors of the interpolation points. The weights of the neighbors are calculated using the inverse distance method. The index of the neighbor and their weights are stored in a look-up-table structure for reutilization. For each fisheye image, the proposed method can quickly find the neighbors of the interpolation points and the weight of each neighbor through the look-up-table. Test results illustrate that the proposed method achieves the best accuracy among the tested method for fisheye images with strong barrel distortion. © 2022, The Authors. All rights reserved.

It is a key issue to reasonably represent human travel and social contact in epidemic models. Various measures were applied to develop the models of human mobility and contact in a long range or a short range, such as Brown movement, random walks, spatial networks, gravity models, contact networks. We proposed a method of representing human daily movement and social contact by using multi-layer networks with temporal edge weights. We combined bipartite networks with social networks to describe human daily trip and social contact, respectively. Temporal edge weights of multi-layer networks were employed to denote the propensity of individual movement and contact. We also verified our models and parameters by incorporating human daily travel and contact regularities, as well as comparing experimental results with human behavior statistical laws. At last, we applied a Chinese university campus as a case study to investigate students' daily travel and social contact, and studied the transmission and control strategies of COVID-19 virus. We found stricter control strategies are needed to mitigate the transmission of COVID-19 virus in a university. Once a patient case emerges in a university, it is better to close the campus and quarantine all students. Partial control strategies such as quarantining a part of students and buildings cannot achieve a great effect of mitigating the transmission of COVID-19 virus. Our works are beneficial for the practitioners in the field of computational epidemiology. © 2021 IEEE.

Novel sliding-mode disturbance observer-based tracking control with applications to robot manipulators

This paper proposes a sliding-mode disturbance observer(SMDOB)-based tracking controller for a class of nonlinear systems with modeling uncertainties and external disturbances. The SMDOB is constructed using an extended state observer embedded by a filtered sliding mode term. The chattering caused by the sliding mode is compressed by the frequency bandwidths of both the extended state observer and the control system. The novelties of the proposed controller are as follows:(1) The semiglobal asymptotical stability of the combined controller-observer system is guaranteed without the boundedness assumption of the time derivatives of modeling uncertainties;(2) the SMDOB can be implemented with a low complexity because of only three parameters to be tuned. Applications to robot manipulators illustrate the effectiveness of the SMDOB-based tracking control strategy.

In the traffic simulation system, the data quality and inference speed of traffic flow generation have a direct impact on the correlation between analysis results and actual traffic conditions, as well as the efficiency of utilization. Existing traffic flow generation methods often rely on abundant sensor data and involve time-consuming generation processes. To reduce time costs, in this paper, we propose an efficient Multi-Route Traffic Flow Generator (MTFG). The generation process is divided into two parts: multi-route generation and route quantity search. In the multi-route generation, we employ a Multi-Route Generator (MRG) methodology leveraging topological road network data to generate distinct traffic routes for identical origin-destination pairs. This ensures the attainment of diversified vehicle trajectories even within a sparsely equipped detector network. Subsequently, in the route quantity search, we employ an improved simulated annealing algorithm to systematically explore the traffic route quantity based on the generated multiple routes, thereby significantly amplifying the algorithm's efficacy in route generation. We validate the effectiveness of MTFG using the Malaga open dataset on the SUMO simulation platform. Compared to the strong baseline Flow Generator Algorithm (FGA) with a training time exceeding 2.5h, MTFG achieves the target metric in just 1h under the same conditions, saving over 55% of training time.
