In this paper, we present a real-time Human-Robot Interaction (HRI) system for a service robot based on 3D human activity recognition and human-mimicking decision mechanism. A three-layer Long-Short-Term Memory (LSTM) network is trained to recognize human activity. The input of this network is the 3D skeleton joints information captured by Kinect V1 and the output of this network is the class label of human activity. Moreover, the human-mimicking decision mechanism is also fused into the online test process of human activity recognition, which allows the robot to instinctively decide whether to interrupt the current task according to task priority. The robot can make appropriate responses based on aforementioned analytical results. The system framework is realized on the Robot Operating System (ROS). The real-life activity interaction between our service robot and the user was conducted to demonstrate the effectiveness of developed HRI system. Copyright © 2018, The Authors. All rights reserved.

With the rapid development of cryptocurrency and its underlying blockchain technologies, platforms such as Ethereum and Hyperledger began to support various types of smart contracts. Smart contracts are computer protocols intended to digitally facilitate, verify, or enforce the negotiation or performance of a contract. Smart contracts have broad range of applications, such as financial services, prediction markets and Internet of Things (IoT), etc. However, there are still many challenges such as security issues and privacy disclosure that await future research. In this paper, we present a comprehensive overview on blockchain powered smart contracts. First, we give a systematic introduction for smart contracts, including the basic framework, operating mechanisms, platforms and programming languages. Second, application scenarios and existing challenges are discussed. Finally, we describe the recent advances of smart contract and present its future development trends, e.g., parallel blockchain. This paper is aimed at providing helpful guidance and reference for future research efforts. © 2018 IEEE.

Prediction markets are markets where participants trade contracts whose payoffs are tied to a future event, thereby yielding prices that can be interpreted as market aggregated forecasts. Past studies have shown that the prediction markets can provide accurate forecasts, sometimes better than sophisticated statistical tools. Due to their advantages, prediction markets have been widely used in the prediction of elections, project management, product quality, and impact of events. However, prediction markets also have some limitations, e.g., poor anonymity and limited market liquidity. In this paper, we propose to apply blockchain powered smart contracts to the prediction markets. First, we give a comprehensive overview on the prediction markets, including their theoretical basis, classification and applications. Second, we present how to design prediction markets based on smart contracts. Then, the algorithm of contracts implementation is proposed. Finally, in order to verify the effectiveness of the algorithm, an intra-enterprise prediction market is built based on a private blockchain. The experimental results show that the market can make accurate prediction for a particular event. In addition, the autonomy, self-sufficiency, and decentralization characteristics of blockchain make the prediction markets more efficient and robust.

New intelligent era calls for new learners and thus urgently needs a series of artificial intelligence. As a good educational platform for teaching artificial intelligence, smart cars have aroused concern and practices of all parties. However, at present, most courses and training pay more attention to basic knowledge and technology of smart cars, seldom to training based on artificial intelligence curriculum system and comprehensive competency integrating science, technology, art and management. Therefore, based on concept of iSTREAM (intelligence for Science, Technology, Robotics, Engineering, Art, and management) and Raspberry intelligent vehicle teaching platform, this paper introduced a smart car-themed artificial intelligence courses including basic courses, specialized courses, specialized technical courses and elective courses. This course can guide learners to develop smart cars based on visual cognition, in-depth learning, VR and 3D printing integrated artistic creativity. It combines disciplines such as science, technology, art, games and management to upgrade a single knowledge and technology course into a comprehensive competency course that integrates knowledge, skills, emotion and management. Practice in Beijing NO.13 and NO.101 High School shows that this course allows students to experience scientific research process, learn artificial intelligence related knowledge and skills, understand scientific way of thinking and scientific research methods, stimulate learners' responsibility and scientific passion, and cultivate leadership skills through self-learning and partly project management. © 2018 IEEE.

In this modern era, technology has advanced to such an extent to make our daily life more proficient and convenient. This paper presents the design and implementation of vending machine (VM) for students, which operates on radio frequency identification technology (RFID). Hence, it turns the VM into smart shopping booth (SSB). The SSB gives the access only through RFID card and vend different products according to the desire of student. The SSB is equipped with RFID reader and student identity card that holds the RFID tag. When the student identity card is scanned for verification and then after selecting the required products, will be dispensed off if a student has available balance in his/her identity card and SMS will be sent to students about remaining balance in their cards by GSM technology. The programming for controller is done by using proton IDE language. The SSB is the customized idea of vending machine and it attempts to resolve various issues that appeared in coin/note based VM. The student identity card RFID based technology is a breakthrough towards a paperless and cashless environment. Moreover, it is very beneficial in saving the precious time of students due to fast paced life and also user friendly. RFID based SSB also improved the communication and sensing capabilities of VM. Hence, our suggested approach outperforms in all aspects.

In this paper, we address the problem of person re-identification and action recognition for service robots,which undergoes lack of training dataset for model learning, reduction of feature set discriminative power in changing scenarios, and high complexity of the algorithm computation. An online context-based person re-identification algorithm is proposed, which learns the person model online without pre-collect dataset and adjusts the weight of features according to the context information. An online biometric-based action recognition algorithm is proposed, actions are recognized by simply matching the skeleton vectors extracted from five linkage mechanisms of human body. The proposed algorithms are evaluated on a service robot system, extensive experimental results show that they performs efficiently and effectively in various real-life scenarios.

This paper presents a detection method of insulator stings for aerial inspection based on *** local sub-images of insulator strings are firstly collected from aerial videos and tagged to establish a training *** fusion feature is then composed by the histogram of oriented gradients（HOG） feature and local binary pattern（LBP） feature after the principal component analysis（PCA） dimension reduction separately.A training model is developed by SVM algorithm with the fusion *** the detection phase,threshold segmentation and morphological operation are adopted to preprocess the *** sliding window method is then used to search the candidate region and the non-maximum suppression（NMS） method is adopted to fuse the candidate ***,the position of the insulator strings can be calculated by linear *** the efficiency and the effectiveness of the proposed method are verified through experiments on locating the multi-angle insulator strings under complex backgrounds.

In this paper, we propose a data-driven adaptive dynamic programming approach to solve the Hamilton-Jacobi(HJ) equations for the two-player nonzero-sum(NZS) game with completely unknown dynamics. First, the model-based policy iteration(PI) algorithm is given, where the knowledge of system dynamics is required. To relax this requirement,a data-driven adaptive dynamic programming(ADP) is proposed in this paper to solve the unknown nonlinear NZS game with only online data. Neural network approximators are constructed to approach the solution of the HJ equations. The online data is collected under the two initial admissible control policies. Then, the NN weights are updated based on the least-squares method using the collected online data repeatedly, which is a kind of the off-policy learning ***, a simulation example is provided to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed control scheme.

This paper addresses astronomical trajectory planning algorithms for tracking and basket-weaving for Five-hundred-meter Aperture Spherical Radio Telescope(FAST).In order to achieve stable operation at feed receiver of FAST and to ease difficulties of trajectory planning in 3-D space,the observed trajectories were planned in celestial coordinate ***,the characteristics of tracking and basket-weaving were analyzed,and the involved parameters for tracking and basket-weaving were ***,the constraint conditions for planning parameters corresponding to the practical motion were obtained;besides trajectory planning algorithms based on double S velocity profile for tracking and basket-weaving were ***,the numerical results indicated that the planned trajectories are guaranteed to be continuous in position,velocity and acceleration,as well as respect the given motion constraint *** the proposed algorithm cost less planning time than the algorithm plans in 3-D space.

3D display has become increasingly popular in many fields. It can provide incredible immersion compared with 2D display. There are many researches referring to the change of user about no matter subjective experience or objective physiology signal while watching 3D content. Similarly, in this paper, we study the variation of user’s EEG when the user watched 3D content. However, we only focus on parallax cue and avoid other cues of 3D content by using Random Dot Stereogram(RDS) as visual stimulus. We designed an experiment which asked the subject to watch RDS with nine kinds of parallaxes(0,±0.5,±1.1,±1.3,±1.7). The users watched one RDS for 1 minute and then closed eyes and rest for 1 minute every time. During watching, EEG signal with 30-channel was recorded. The result suggests that significant variation of the user’s EEG data occurred in the Alpha(8-13Hz) and Beta(14-30Hz) frequency band by different parallax’s comparison. And we found not only parallax but also electrode position can impact the user’s EEG data significantly. Accurately, the EEG data has a significant change in six electrodes position in both frequency bands including CZ 、 PZ 、 OZ 、 O2 in international 10-20 system. It means those electrode positions we detect can be regarded as typical positions where we record EEG signal. It will simplify the process of EEG signal acquisition when we need to study the relationship between parallax cue of 3D display and the user further. © 2018 SID.
