Since the advent of Internet technology, the computing environment in many applications has been changed drastically. Especially, the e-Logistics is the virtual logistics business activity and service architecture among the companies based on the Internet technology. To construct effectively the e-Logistics framework, several advanced technologies such as GPS, GIS, ITS with moving objects technique are required. Although these advanced technologies have a lot of characteristics that enable support of new services as well as reduce the cost of transportation of logistics, they also have common things that must be resolved in terms of efficiency and effectiveness of moving objects management. The weakness of these techniques is that they always consider only the information that is valid at the current time, and hard to manage the past and future information. To overcome this problem, the researches on moving objects management system (MOMS) have been started from a few years ago. In this paper, we propose the model and system design of moving objects management system for e-Logistics applications. The MOMS architecture in e-Logistics are suggested and the detailed explain of sub-systems of MOMS are described.

The results of investigations on indoor propagation of ultra-wide bandwidth (UWB) waves in an urban environment are presented. As such, measured data is compared with simulated results obtained using a combination of ray tracing and the finite difference time domain methods. Thus, the analysis and results could be used further to develop a complete simulation for an indoor UWB system.

This paper presents a new neuro-computing approach to the problem of state estimation. The neuro-estimator is established by a hybrid combination of a Hopfield network and a feedforward multilayer neural net. The former is very useful for optimization and the latter is well known for function approximation. This neuro-estimator is very appropriate for real-time implementation of nonlinear state estimators especially when modeling uncertainty is included.

This paper introduces a MLP-based neuro-controller with a learning algorithm that guarantees the stability of a class of closed loop neural network control systems. The underlying control system represents a special class of non-linear systems. The neuro-controller indeed represents a direct adaptive controller and assumes that all the sates are measurable. In the design, no additional controllers or robustifying terms are needed. Neural network weight matrices are adapted online with no initial offline training.

The framework of wireless multiprotocol label switching (WMPLS) technology in applications of ad hoc networking and mobile ad hoc networking (MANET) are presented in this paper. WMPLS has been designed to be a homogeneous protocol to MPLS, GMPLS, and MPLambdaS, which are the strongest candidates for the next generation WAN technologies. This paper provides the framework of WMPLS and the signaling/control protocols to establish connection-oriented and connectionless label switched paths (LSPs) in mobile communication networks and ad hoc networks, and also provides a performance analysis compared to other wireless technologies.

A methodology to systematically study hot carrier and soft breakdown effects on RF circuits is proposed, and verified with a 2.45GHz low noise amplifier (LNA) and a 1GHz voltage controlled oscillator (VCO). MOSFETs of 0.16 μm technology are stressed, and DC and RF parameters are extracted and used for BERT and SpectreRF simulations to give RF circuit performance degradations due to HC and SBD effects with respect to operation time. Design guidelines for more reliable RF circuits are given after simulation and analysis.

In this paper we propose an individualized 3D facial model constructed from the anatomical perspective for realistic facial expression synthesis. Our model incorporates a physically-based approximation to facial skin tissue, a set of anatomically-motivated facial muscle actuators and underlying skull structure. The skin is modeled as a multi-layer mass-spring lattice by taking into account the nonlinear stress-strain relationship of the real skin. The 3D face model incorporates a skull structure which extends the scope of facial motion and facilitates facial muscle definition. The automatic facial muscle construction is achieved by using an efficient muscle mapping approach that ensures different muscles to be located at the anatomically correct positions between the skin and skull layers. For computational efficiency, we devise a semi-implicit integration method to numerically solve the governing dynamics. The dynamic facial animation algorithm runs at an interactive rate with realistic facial expressions to be synthesized.

Impact is inevitable when an object contacts with environment. In robot control problem dealing with impact, research focus is on minimizing the ill performance due to impact. On the other hand, in some applications interacting with dynamic environment the amount of impact has to be controlled in a desired fashion. This is the case specially when playing with a ball. At the instant of impact, both the external impulse exerted on the ball and the internal impulse experienced at the joints of the human body must be important properties. A modeling procedure of impulses, impulse geometry, and impulse measure will be briefly introduced and a new impulse measure for analysis of internal impulse is proposed. Based on these analytical tools, we initially analyze the external and internal impulses through a simple 3-linked planar robot, and extend to applications interacting with dynamic environment such as in landing on the ground, volleyball, and tennis. It is shown through simulation that the trend of the impulses calculated by the analytical model is coincident to the human experiences.

This paper investigates the handover procedures for WMPLS and provides the performance results of WMPLS compared to WATM. The throughput comparison between WMPLS and WATM with GoBackN and SREJ ARQ packet/cell error recovery has been studied. With the adaptability of the packet size, WMPLS shows a much higher throughput efficiency compared to WATM for varying channel conditions. The priority classes of 1 through 5 of the WMPLS system performs better than WATM in respect of average queueing time. Also, the priority class of 1 of the WMPLS performs significantly better than WATM in the inter-arrival jitter analysis.
