As one kind of Event-Related Potentials (ERPs), P300 plays an important role in studying neural activities and cognitive processes, and lays the foundation for P300 speller – the Brain Computer Interface (BCI) working by detecting P300. However, due to P300’s high subject variability and low Signal Noise Ratio (SNR), it’s always a challenge to do P300 detection. Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) have been widely recognized as effective methods for P300 detection, leading to the development of increasingly complex CNN architectures for P300 detection in recent years. However, this paper takes a different approach by proposing the bantamweight CNN (BCNN), the simplest and fast-training CNN for P300 detection. BCNN comprises only one convolutional filter and a total of 141 parameters. Surprisingly, it achieves state-of-the-art performance after just 2 epochs of training, making it an exceptionally lightweight and fast CNN for P300 detection. BCNN not only provides new ideas for CNN design, but also effectively address resource and time constrained situations.

Let Zps be the residue class ring of integers modulo ps, where p is a prime number and s is a positive integer. We study subspaces and Grassmann graphs for Zpsn. A Grassmann graph for Zpsn, denoted by Gd(n,m,ps) (Gd for short), has all m-subspaces of Zpsn as its vertices, and two distinct vertices are adjacent if their intersection is of dimension >m−d, where md, etc. By these results, we obtain the Erdős–Ko–Rado theorem for Zpsn and some bounds of the independence number of Gd. We also show that an optimal Grassmannian code for Zpsn is a largest independent set of Gd. A ps-Kneser graph over Zps, denoted by ZpsKn:m where n≥2m≥4, is the complement of Gm(n,m,ps). Finally, we prove that ZpsKn:m is a core when n>2m≥4, and give some estimations for the chromatic number and clique number of ZpsKn:m.

The paper presents a versatile library of analytic and quasi-analytic complex-valued wavelet packets (WPs) which originate from discrete splines of arbitrary orders. The real parts of quasi-analytic WPs are the regular spline-based orthonormal WPs designed in [1]. The imaginary parts are the so-called complementary orthonormal WPs, which, unlike the symmetric regular WPs, are antisymmetric. Tensor products of 1D quasi-analytic WPs provide a diversity of 2D WPs oriented in multiple directions. For example, the set of fourth-level WPs comprise 62 different directions. The designed computational sch.me enables extremely fast and easy implementation of the WP transforms.
