The Intrusion Detection System architecture commonly used in commercial and research systems have a number of problems that limit their configurability, scalability or efficiency. In this paper, two machine-learning paradigms, Artificial Neural Networks and Fuzzy Inference System, are used to design an Intrusion Detection System. SNORT is used to perform real time traffic analysis and packet logging on IP network during the training phase of the system. Then a signature pattern database is constructed using protocol analysis and Neuro-Fuzzy learning method. Using 1998 DARPA Intrusion Detection Evaluation Data and TCP dump raw data, the experiments are deployed and discussed.

The Sydney water scare shares with numerous contemporary policy issues a complex intermeshing of 'fact' and 'value'. An examination of the institutional reforms that resolved this matter shows the 'appeals to the facts' that dominated contemporary commentary to be both misleading and counterproductive. The emphasis on process that emerges reflects recent approaches to science in policy which, in acknowledging a key role for values, privilege decision processes over tech.ical analyses, highlight community involvement, and stress discursive procedures and fora over more conventional rational choice models of decision making. Ultimately we need to reconceive the fact/value distinction and how it frames science in politics.

Most of the cloth simulation and modelling tech.iques rely on the energy function of the system. The geometric deformation is related to the energy function by the fabric material characteristics, which are usually difficult to measure directly. This paper discusses how the fabric material properties are related to the measurable mechanical properties of the fabric such as tensile modulus, Poisson's ratio etc. These properties are incorporated into a cloth simulator to produce draping results. The simulated image and real object are then compared to show the realism.

When condition matching used for color representation based on standard observer, metamer exists inherently which lowers the accuracy of color production and color communication. A new multispectral space is developed in this paper by means of hybrid algorithm, i.e., cluster analysis with principal component analysis for color representation. Results show that the multispectral space not only keeping the structure of the original space but eliminating zero-crosses as well its accuracy of color representation is higher.
