Mechanical properties of fabric materials for draping simulation

Most of the cloth simulation and modelling tech.iques rely on the energy function of the system. The geometric deformation is related to the energy function by the fabric material characteristics, which are usually difficult to measure directly. This paper discusses how the fabric material properties are related to the measurable mechanical properties of the fabric such as tensile modulus, Poisson's ratio etc. These properties are incorporated into a cloth simulator to produce draping results. The simulated image and real object are then compared to show the realism.

A survey aimed at examining the various aspects of biotech.ology education in Iran is presented. In Iran, biotech.ology education is carried out only at graduate levels , which makes it difficult to achieve the targets in biotech.ology human resources of the national 5-year plan. The main reasons for underdeveloped biotech.ology education is a lack of skilled specialists and teachers in the K-12 educational systems, lack of educational materials, and prohibitive rules. Greater number of students in high sch.ols, higher efficiency in education through the Ministry of Education system, and the need to create persons of different skill levels in biotech.ology is necessary for Iran to fulfill the human resources goals.

Robots should listen to and recognize speeches with their own ears under noisy environments and simultaneous speeches to attain smooth communications with people in a real world. This paper presents three simultaneous speech recognition based on active audition which integrates audition with motion. Our robot audition system consists of three modules - a real-time human tracking system, an active direction-pass filter (ADPF) and a speech recognition system using multiple acoustic models. The real-time human tracking system realizes robust and accurate sound source localization and tracking by audio-visual integration. The performance of localization shows that the resolution of the center of the robot is much higher than that of the peripheral. We call this phenomena "auditory fovea" because it is similar to visual fovea (high resolution in the center of human eye). Active motions such as being directed at the sound source improve localization because of making the best use of the auditory fovea. The ADPF realizes accurate and fast sound separation by using a pair of microphones. The ADPF separates sounds originating from the specified direction obtained by the real-time human tracking system. Because the performance of separation depends on the accuracy of localization, the extraction of sound from the front direction is more accurate than that of sound from the periphery. This means that the pass range of the ADPF should be narrower in the front direction than in the periphery. In other words, such active pass range control improves sound separation. The separated speech is recognized by the speech recognition using multiple acoustic models that integrates multiple results to output the result with the maximum likelihood. Two dicyanopyrazine derivatives (2,3,7,8-tetracyano-5,10-dimethyl-5,10-dihydrodipyrazino[2,3-b:2′, 3′-e]pyrazine (DM-dicyanopyrazine) and 2,3,7,8-tetracyano-5,10-di(n-dodecyl)-5,10-dihydrodipyrazino[2,3-b:2′, 3′-e]pyrazine (DD- dicyanopyrazine)) were synthesized by intermolecular cyclization of 2-alkylamino-3-chloro-5,6-dicyanopyrazines in the presence of triethyl amine. The crystal structures of DM- and DD-dicyanopyrazine were monoclinic, space group P21/c with dimensions of α = 1.10 nm, b = 0.97 nm, c = 1.32 nm and β = 100.17°, and space group P2 1/α with dimensions of α =1.36 nm, b = 0.84 nm, 1.60 nm and β = 88.9°, respectively. DM- and DD-dicyanopyrazine grew epitaxially on a friction-transferred FTFE layer from vapor phase. Dicyanopyrazine molecules adsorbed their side chain almost perpendicular to the substrate surface. The anisotropic features of the DM-dicyanopyrazine/ PTFE and DD-dicyanopyrazine/PTFE double layers in optical properties were discussed based on the molecular orientation.

Dynamic Power Management or DPM refers to the problem of judicious application of various low power tech.iques based on runtime conditions in an embedded system to minimize the total energy consumption. To be effective, often such decisions take into account the operating conditions and the system-level design goals. DPM has been a subject of intense research in the past decade driven by the need for low power in modern embedded devices. We present an overview of the formal methods that have been explored in solving the system-level DPM problem. We show how formal reasoning frameworks can potentially unify apparently disparate DPM tech.iques.

The Design of Experiment approach (DoE) and an electromagnetic full-wave solver are combined in a single algorithm in order to produce parametric model of planar microwave and millimeter wave components. The DoE is a tech.ique normally used to improve a process or a system and is here applied for conducting an electromagnetic analysis in which parameter levels, as geometrical dimensions, are made vary and the corresponding changes on the output are recorded. The results are then statistically processed by the Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) for determining which parameters or their combination is more significant. The electromagnetic analysis performed in time-domain by means of a Transmission Line Matrix (TLM) method provides a very broadband characterization. The given structure is simulated for each of the possible combination obtained from changing each parameter between two levels while keeping all the others constant. Once the parameters have been identified multiple linear regression (MLR) approach is applied to develop the model. This algorithm is here tested on two different test structures, as a microstrip patch antenna on teflon substrate and a coplanar waveguide bend on silicon substrate. The accuracy analysis complete the algorithm description by giving an estimation of the model error.

Recently, there has been an increasing interest in the research of push-based information systems that deliver data using broadcast in both wired and wireless environments. In push-based systems, since a server can meet all requests for broadcast data pending in a system with one broadcast, a larger throughput can be expected when there exists a large number of clients. In this paper to reduce the response time of data access, we propose a new sch.duling strategy of broadcast program considering an environment where clients issue requests for multiple data items consecutively with think-time. The proposed strategy reduces the average response time by broadcasting the optimal data item at present according to clients' access characteristics such as access frequencies, correlations among data items, and think-time.

This paper investigate the feasibility of electromagnetic field reduction by optimisation of phase relationship in 3-phase systems. Various transmission line phase positions are presented, which features minimum electromagnetic effect on surface level. Numerical optimisation using recurrent Finite Difference Method (FDM) simulation is a promising direction in selecting safe design. In this respect the present paper introduces a rigorous application of FDM for calculation and studying purposes. Different transmission line structure designs have been investigated in order to select the maximum phaser cancellation in 3-phase systems. Results are compared with the Pinjar-Northern Terminal Design in Western Australia for demonstration and verification purposes. A deeper insight to the effects of changing the transmission line design has been presented, giving more understanding to the electromagnetic field reduction within the existing right-of-way. All designs have been taken based on existing tower configuration and associated parameters, a knowledge base or design rules, main tower dimensions, subconductor radii, bundle configuration and relative cost. Measurements were performed and the successful large reduction of electric and magnetic fields could be clearly identified. Examples of existing power lines and projects show practical applications.

The paper objectives are to undertake a sch.me based on the Finite Difference Method for the calculation and analysis of the electromagnetic fields established by currents in power transmission lines, particularly by those in single-phase-to-earth fault condition. This paper introduces a physical example for evaluation of the electromagnetic field coupling between a power transmission line and a pipeline buried in the body of the earth. These results are based on practical measurements for the electric and magnetic field on the pipeline. The original motivations of this research are to analyze the electromagnetic interference effects of transmission line upon nearby pipelines and describe comprehensive solutions together with its software implementation that can investigate these effects. The research results of the project will have immediate and have practical applications to the pipeline and power industries.

The DiffServ architecture provides a scalable mechanism for QoS introduction in a TCP/IP network. The idea of DiffServ is based on the aggregation of traffic flows at an ingress (or egress) point of a network and the IP packet marking for different priority flows, according to several classification criteria. Two approaches exist in the DiffServ architecture: the absolute and the relative. In absolute DiffServ, an admission control sch.me is used to provide QoS guarantees as absolute bounds of specific QoS parameters. The relative DiffServ model provides QoS guarantees per class expressed with reference to guarantees given to the other classes defined. Our study targets at providing relative proportional delay differentiation service based on class based queue (CBQ) sch.duler. The main idea is to frequently adjust the service rates allocated to classes of a CBQ sch.duler in order to achieve relative delay spacing among classes. The simulation experiments conducted show that our model can attain relative delay, provided that the required delay differentiation parameters (DDPs) are feasible.
