Connections Between Integral Quadratic Constraints and Dissipativity

We show that a recent dissipativity approach to feedback stability analysis of potentially open-loop unstable systems, which encompasses the classical soft integral quadratic constraint (IQC) theorem, may be recovered by hard IQC theory. The latter is known to be subsumable by the more general soft IQC theory endowed with homotopies that are continuous in the gap topology. In addition, we demonstrate how the aforementioned classical soft IQC theorem, initially introduced for the analysis of a feedback interconnection of a nonlinear component and a linear system, may be recast to analyze the stability of a feedback interconnection of two nonlinear systems. This generates a frequency-dependent (Q(ω), S(ω), R(ω))-dissipativity result. © 1963-2012 IEEE.

DC-DC converter-based multi-bus DC microgrids(MGs) in series have received much attention, where the conflict between voltage recovery and current balancing has been a hot topic. The lack of models that accurately portray the electrical characteristics of actual MGs while is controller design-friendly has kept the issue active. To this end, this paper establishes a large-signal model containing the comprehensive dynamical behavior of the DC MGs based on the theory of high-order fully actuated systems, and proposes distributed optimal control based on this. The proposed secondary control method can achieve the two goals of voltage recovery and current sharing for multi-bus DC MGs. Additionally, the simple structure of the proposed approach is similar to one based on droop control, which allows this control technique to be easily implemented in a variety of modern microgrids with different configurations. In contrast to existing studies, the process of controller design in this paper is closely tied to the actual dynamics of the MGs. It is a prominent feature that enables engineers to customize the performance metrics of the system. In addition, the analysis of the stability of the closed-loop DC microgrid system, as well as the optimality and consensus of current sharing are given. Finally, a scaled-down solar and battery-based microgrid prototype with maximum power point tracking controller is developed in the laboratory to experimentally test the efficacy of the proposed control method.

The rapid urban development has caused serious problems such as high energy consumption and carbon emissions,especially under the context of climate *** are particularly energy-intensive,generating about one third of global energyrelated carbon *** with active solutions(like mechanical systems),passive solutions offer the potential to balance energy consumption,thermal comfort,and ecological *** potential solution is the integration of green glass space(GGS)into passive building *** is a transitional building space with glass curtain walls that exhibit excellent insulation performance during ***,GGS is susceptible to overheating during summer,which limits its ***,this work proposes a strategy of integrating vertical greenery into GGS,leveraging the nature-based solution of greenery(i.e.,flourishes in summer and withers in winter)to address this seasonal challenge of *** results demonstrated that the strategic application of vertical greenery can effectively mitigate the overheating in GGS and improve comprehensive *** using full coverage of vertical greenery in a linear layout,the air temperature of GGS and cooling energy consumption were largely reduced by 8.02℃and 12.2%,respectively,while the carbon abatement was enhanced by up to 101.11 *** on a comprehensive evaluation of energy,economy,and environmental benefits,it is recommended to use a greenery configuration with 50%coverage in a vertical linear layout for *** integration of greenery into building design can mitigate adverse environmental impacts,reduce energy consumption,and contribute to the sustainable development of low-carbon cities.

As the high-speed railway business in China develops rapidly, the safety and reliability requirements for high-speed railways are becoming higher and higher. For a high-speed railway system with a high degree of complexity, it is crucial to ensure the safe operation of the system from a risk management perspective by identifying potential accident hazards based on the collected risk source information and taking preventive measures in advance. This requires analysis of on-site incident and maintenance data to uncover correlations between sources of risk. Most of this data is recorded as textual data, in which there are many omissions, under-recording and multiple meanings of words. Although many relevant standard documents have been issued for different systems, there is a lack of a standardization management system for text data to achieve integrated management of risk source information for high-speed railway systems. This paper provides an overview of the key technologies that need to be applied in the standardization management of high-speed railway text data, and proposes a risk information management framework based on text information mining. © 2024, Beijing Paike Culture Commu. Simultaneous multi-material embedded printing for 3D heterogeneous structures

In order to mimic the natural heterogeneity of native tissue and provide a better microenvironment for cell culturing,multi-material bioprinting has become a common solution to construct tissue models in *** the embedded printing method,complex 3D structure can be printed using soft biomaterials with reasonable shape ***,the current sequential multi-material embedded printing method faces a major challenge,which is the inevitable trade-off between the printed structural integrity and printing ***,we propose a simultaneous multi-material embedded printing *** this method,we can easily print firmly attached and high-precision multilayer *** multiple individually controlled nozzles,different biomaterials can be precisely deposited into a single crevasse,minimizing uncontrolled squeezing and guarantees no contamination of embedding medium within the *** analyse the dynamics of the extruded bioink in the embedding medium both analytically and experimentally,and quantitatively evaluate the effects of printing parameters including printing speed and rheology of embedding medium,on the 3D morphology of the printed *** demonstrate the printing of double-layer thin-walled structures,each layer less than 200μm,as well as intestine and liver models with 5%gelatin methacryloyl that are crosslinked and extracted from the embedding medium without significant impairment or *** peeling test further proves that the proposed method offers better structural integrity than conventional sequential printing *** proposed simultaneous multi-material embedded printing method can serve as a powerful tool to support the complex heterogeneous structure fabrication and open unique prospects for personalized medicine.

The task to estimate all the parameters of an unknown quantum state, also called quantum state tomography, is essential for characterizing and controlling quantum systems. In this paper, we utilize observable time traces to identify the initial quantum state of a closed quantum system, based on the state space approach in the control theory. In the informationally complete scenario, we show that with a linear regression estimation (LRE), the mean squared error (MSE) scales as , where N is the resource number. In the informationally incomplete scenario, we introduce regularization LRE to perform the state tomography task. We employ PBH test to demonstrate that closed quantum systems with only one observable are informationally incomplete and propose using observables, where d is the dimension of the quantum state, for informational completeness. Numerical examples demonstrate the effectiveness of our method.

Implementing a Battery Management System (BMS) in Electric Vehicles (EVs) offers several benefits that enhance the efficiency, security, and durability of the vehicle's battery system. The BMS oversees and controls the performance of each cell in the battery pack, guaranteeing that they function within predetermined voltage and temperature thresholds to maintain safety. In this paper, an intelligent BMS for an EV model powered by a solar PV array was proposed using a fuzzy logic (FL) controller. The proposed method was applied to EVs consisting of four Lithium-ion batteries. The simulation results are achieved using MATLAB/Simulink software. The estimation of the state of charge (SOC) for each battery was used as input to the FL which controls the discharging/ charging mode for each battery via power semiconductor switches. Three different scenarios are used to verify the suggested method. A full control FL operation was obtained, and the batteries were protected successfully against overcharging and over-discharging. © 2024 IEEE.

With the development of train control systems towards autonomous and unmanned direction, drivers no longer control trains. But safety and efficiency have always been a key concern of the railway industry. To balance safety and efficiency, the concept of "fail-operational" has been proposed. From the perspective of whether the train itself can continue to operate, based on the advantages of STPA method in risk identification, Active STPA is proposed to analyze and judge the "fail-operational" of the train. This paper selects a case of emergency braking failure caused by secondary slipping during the entry process of the Yanfang Line, and uses the Active STPA method for safety analysis. The results indicate that relevant constraints SC need to be supplemented: In the event of a malfunction, the interaction between the dispatch center and the site should be strengthened. Meanwhile, during the data collection process, through communication with on-site experts, it was indicated that during the current operation of the Yanfang Line, small-scale slip faults do not lead to direct emergency braking, presenting a "fail-operational" trend. It demonstrates the completeness as well as the depth of the active STPA approach to analysing accident cases. © 2024, Beijing Paike Culture Commu. Co., Ltd.
